Oh Fedup there are some situations in which there are literally no words. At least you are able to go home now, here's hoping you get some definite answers over the next few days Thanks

Over so happy for you, this is excellent news. Here's hoping you an relax a bit now, as kat pointed out you are halfway to 12weeks and its all looking great at the moment!

pixie will let you know how I get on this aftn at the physio, my pain is much more concentrated across my lower back, down into my thighs, round my hips and my coccyx so I'm hopeful they can sort it out! Although I did actually sleep last night, which was such a relief!

OhFedup I don't know what to say- what a horrible thing to happen. I hope you have someone to look after you in this dreadful time.

Ickle I'm sorry you are in limbo land, and hope you can find some way of filling your time and mind until the next scan.

Congratulations on the good scan news Over.

I am in need of a little hand holding myself, I fear. I'm 9 wks today and have another private scan on Saturday (last one at 6+4) and until a couple of days ago was feeling moderately confident. However since Sunday afternoon I have had much less boob soreness (my one and only symptom), and I am pretty sure that when pregnant with DD it went on longer than this. I've also scared myself by reading stories of people with good early scans who lost symptoms and then found they had a MMC at the next scan (and I'm on progesterone which would hold off bleeding a bit anyway). Also away at a work conference til tomorrow evening so have to put on a confident and happy face when I really don't feel like it Sad

NerdyBird · 10/12/2013 16:50

missmidden I will hold your hand. Keep thinking the same sort of thing. I was confident for a few days last week but by the weekend it was wearing off, along with most of my symptoms. I had been thinking about a private scan but I'm not sure if I could face it if it turned out something was wrong, especially this close to christmas. I'm 9 weeks on friday and my next scan is 3rd January.

Sending massive hugs to fedup xxxx

Louzul · 10/12/2013 17:27

Nerdy and Miss, I think we are In The same boat! My 12 week scan is on the 6th and my symptoms have been lessening too. However, this could be the passing from the embryonic period to the fetal period and apparently a lot of women's symptoms do die down between weeks 8-12. I'm still worrying every day but keeping this thought in my head. Remember: today we are pregnant.

icklemssunshine · 10/12/2013 17:47

nerdy, miss, lou, my friend has her 12 week scan next week and after a few sicky weeks she was symptom free by week 10. I remember with DD I felt sick up til week 9 an it passed.

fedup so sorry to hear your news. I hope you're taking time to look after yourself and have lots of love and support at home.

Trying not to get my hopes up but today I've felt sick all day. Have eaten so much since getting home to try and fight the nausea as if I don't then I feel worse. I felt like this with DD but not with the MMC so hoping that's a good sign. Won't know til next weds though.

MeDoingMyThing · 10/12/2013 18:55

Had a scan today on NHS - 12 week one but am actually 14 weeks. Well the baby is still alive despite my convincing myself yesterday that it isn't. Feel like I have reached another milestone so am pleased but still feel cautious.

Hope everyone else is okay. Going to have to get a really early night as the tiredness is still getting to me.

Missmidden · 10/12/2013 19:29

Congratulations Me!

Thanks for the sympathy Nerdy, Louzel and Ickle it is good to know I am not alone in all this. About to head down for a work Xmas do- my strategy is to pretend to drink and hope no one notices!

blueskies19 · 10/12/2013 19:55

Really hope you're getting lots of love and support in RL Fedup and do hope you're ok - sending many hugs to you

Keeping all my fingers crossed for your scan ickle - what a worrying time for you - really hope it goes well - I think Ive got my dates totally miscalculated and so I don't really know where I am - do hope the time flies by quick for you and that it brings good news

I think Im 5 + 5 today and after worrying that I have no symptoms Ive had nausea and then morning sickness today which although not pleasant was a great reassurance for me as up until now Ive hardly had any symptoms - who knew that feeling sick would be such a happy occassion :)

The one worrying symptom Im still getting and quite alot today is cramping and I wanted to ask if there anyone else around my dates or anyone further along who has had this and its all been fine?? - is it normal to have this or should I be panicked?? - Im starting to really worry as Ive had previous mcs and am desperate that this goes ok after three previous mcs

Ive got a scan but not till next week and Im petrified and just looking at getting through each hour still being pg which for me is a real achievment

any reassurance from anyone who's had cramping at 5 + 5 and gone on to a succesful pg would be most helpful - many thanks in advance

icklemssunshine · 10/12/2013 20:05

Wow blueskies we're both 5+5 and have started to experience nausea on the same day! Got to take that as a good sign. What kind of cramping are you experiencing? I had a kind of "pulling" or over stretching feeling with DD.

MeDoingMyThing · 10/12/2013 21:08

blueskies - I had cramping a lot until about 9 weeks and have a few pals who had the same so worry not! X

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/12/2013 22:14

I had cramping. Its generally just your uterus preparing and getting into shape. Smile

kjh5 · 10/12/2013 22:18

blueskies the cramping question is one that gets asked by just about everyone at the beginning of their pregnancies. It is totally normal and nothing to worry about unless it is severe and accompanied by heavy bleeding. If it makes you feel any better I'm 21 weeks and still cramping every other day or so - it's caused by your uterus muscles and ligaments stretching.

I can't quite remember who asked about the physio (think it was penguin or pixie) but for anyone second or third trimester people suffering from back pain or SPD - here's £50 worth of advice for free: get your pelvic floor exercises in twice a day and wear a maternity support belt. The physio I saw was actually lovely and did a proper assessment. All the pain is caused by the pressure of the baby shifting my pelvis out of line. She has strapped me up until I see someone on the NHS who can measure me for a mat belt (but the ones you buy online are just as good) and said strengthening the pelvic floor is vital. I'm already in less pain so the strapping is working. Now just have too see if the exercises help over the next few weeks and keep my Fx for that NHS appt!

BirdsDoIt · 11/12/2013 09:30

fedup sending sympathy and a big hug your way. You poor thing x

kjh that's interesting to hear - I've started to get lower back pain and my back clicks ominously every now and then - am 23+4 so maybe I need to be doing these pelvic floor exercises of which you speak! Can anyone point me in the direction of instructions online? I've got midwife appt next wed so will ask her too.

blueskies I have intermittent cramping still too, and period type pain in the early weeks (prob up until 12 wks or so?)

Good news on all those sicky symptoms ladies! One day at a time...over and me really pleased to hear your scans went well.

me even at almost 24 weeks I still feel cautious - more confident, but cautious. For me the 22 week scan was a big milestone, more so than the 12 week.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/12/2013 10:10

Birds you should get a belt . My hips and pelvis are shot, when I roll over in bed, my lower back goes crunch! I've got a Nexcare maternity support belt. Its a life saver.

blueskies19 · 11/12/2013 10:35

Thanks so much for your replies - that's very reassuring and Im so pleased to hear - I was starting to worry as its been around for a while - that's such a comfort to hear

Hi ickle - yes we're about the same dates :) Im not sure exactly where my dates are and haven't yet seen anyone but that's where Im dating it given my LMP
Im getting sort of a dull ache feeling and very period type of cramps - sometimes it can go on for a few hours continuously and feels like its getting stronger and then eventually goes away= phew - I also occasionally get that pulling feeling like Ive pulled a muscle and lower bad pain

Morning sickness is not as intense as yesterday by any means but Ive got a very mild "not quite sure if I want any food" feeling rather than the intense sickness as yesterday - not sure what all that means but as long as I have some mild nausea its a bit of a reassurance to me at this stage :)

thanks medoingmything - its greatly reassuring to hear yr at 9 weeks and had this too along with some friends
thanks saggy - that explains the cramping - I thought I was too early for that to happen but that makes alot of sense

thanks as well kjh5 and birds - glad Im not the only one who's asked this question - was thinking I was a bit silly but all your answers are most reassuring

just another quick question - sorry! How many scans till you have in the early stages - Im due to have my first one next week and am petrified - just wondered what others did about follow up scans?

blueskies19 · 11/12/2013 10:38

oops that meant to say back pain - silly typing is not working this morning due to me turning into an insomniac - that's one symptom I wish would not be around!

kjh5 · 11/12/2013 12:02

Saggy thanks for the nexcare tip - that looks like a good one! I might just invest in it!

birds and blue this is the best explanation I've found on how to do the exercises and what they are. It is fairly comprehensive!

NerdyBird · 11/12/2013 13:10

I have a question about paracetamol. Can I just take it? It says online to ask your doctor, but do I really? Seems like a waste of time to me. I've a headache that isn't really shifting and it looks like paracetamol is the only thing I could take.

Have a little nausea back today, but feeling less than great in general. Really hoping a cold isn't on it's way, I've two parties to go to tomorrow and friday.

kjh5 · 11/12/2013 13:18

Nerdy I've been slugging paracetamol the whole way through this pregnancy. It is perfectly safe to take in the normal dosage, just try not overdo it. I was advised to take the paracetamol-only tablets (not the 'extra' ones which might contain caffeine or asprin). Boots do a paracetamol only tablet or I take the blue panadol ones. I find taking two usually cures me of my headaches. Hope you feel better soon!

fedupofrainydays · 11/12/2013 14:10

I had paracetamol on a drip into my arm in hospital so I'm sure it's ok! But as kj says - just the plain one.

They also say to take it in labour (not that it helps much then!)

NerdyBird · 11/12/2013 14:23

Thanks ladies. Will take some if it doesn't go by the end of the day.

fedup how are you doing today?

Pentagon · 11/12/2013 15:09

fedup I'm so sorry Thanks I know TTC again seems far too scary at the moment but give yourself a break, grieve as much as you need to and you will feel ready again in due course. All the best for next time!

ickle being in limbo is horrible but there's a good chance everything is OK and it's just too early. Try to keep yourself busy until the next scan - good luck!

Congratulations on the good scan news over & me

welcome scone!

medusa great news and yay for team blue!

birds I would be equally outraged with DH! With both my MMCs I was in mourning for a good 3-4 months... DH was upset but nothing compared to how I felt. He understood and respected how I felt though and thankfully we never fought over it

christine you sound so organised!

choc, DIY, black and santa so close now, how exciting!

kjh you have your 20-week scan on Friday if I remember well? I'm out and about pretty much all day tomorrow so if I don't go online, all the best! I know you're stressed (so was I just before my scan) but I'm sure everything will be OK

hi to everyone else!

fedupofrainydays · 11/12/2013 15:51

Hi ladies. So I am definately leaving you now. EPU rang to confirm mc. Hcg down to 97. So ectopic unlikely and I should expect the pain and bleeding to kick in a week or two.
Hope you all go on to have healthy babies and than you for all the kind thoughts and support.
Not sure when I will be able to cope with ttc again but will see how we go

Xx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/12/2013 15:57

I'm so sorry FedUp. I suppose if there is one positive in this, it wasn't ectopic. It could have been far worse and you still have everything in the right place. I'm not going to say anything clichéd, we've all had MC before and we all know how shit it is. Sad Just look after yourself. xxxxx
