Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, 1st to early 2nd trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

I think mil has a pushchair for us, which I hope is going to be man enough for our dog walking. the one thing I really want to buy new is a car seat.

Feeling so ungrateful but am seriously fed up of being sick and feeling rubbish. Bleeuuuhhh

kitty good luck for your scan tomorrow!

Quodlibet · 05/11/2013 23:24

Congrats Mr Brod! How exciting.

We have also gone the Baby Jogger route - wanted something light but robust that collapses easily in one part as we don't have much space in our flat to store it. We went for the BJCM GT. It's worth shopping around as we got ours for £260 rather than £329 at JL.

PuppyMummy · 06/11/2013 07:11

in this mornings news I can only just to the button up on my work trousers and not the other metal fixing bit so hiding it under my jumper!! ha ha Grin
Guess ill have to get an new pair in next size up.

PuppyMummy · 06/11/2013 07:11

do not to!!

Tallyra · 06/11/2013 07:16

question foody, are you keeping hydrated? if you want some advice for what to try, pop over to the hyperemesis thread. if it'd getting really bad you could ask your doctor for anti sickness meds. they do work a bit, but not totally. if you suspect dehydration you can get kesostix from the chemist to check. if you have 3+ or more you need to see a hospital.

Lady try not to worry too much, sure those numbers will be doubling as I write this
Foody - didn't realise you were getting so ill. Is it all day long? Is there anything you can do to hold the sickness at bay (eg eating)? Hugs

1.5 hours to our scan. I stupidly read the leaflet saying all of the things they're checking for and am panicking something will be wrong. Have fingers crossed so hard that she's ok

FeatherFeather11 · 06/11/2013 07:41

merk fx crossed for you! All will be fine. Deep breaths.

foody I'm wondering when this sickness is going to hit me. Hope you feel better very soon. How many weeks are you now?

qazxc · 06/11/2013 07:50

merk fx for you. I know it's hard not to worry but try and relax says the paranoid one.
foody maybe talk to your doc, don't suffer in silence when there might be a solution.
feather it varies from person to person, you might not feel queasy at all or just a little. my nausea started around week 6. with most people it goes by week 14.

Boomgoestheweasel · 06/11/2013 07:50

merk, kitty, good luck with your scans today, I'm sure everything will be fine xxx

foody poor you. Tally gives excellent advice x

feather you might be one of the lucky ones yet! although then you'll just spend the next 8 weeks worrying about not being sick, every silver lining has a cloud!

Too late lady, I believe the non-gt version is already on order on the 3-4-2 deal from boots!

qazxc · 06/11/2013 07:54

Kitty good luck on your scan!

Thanks Kat. I knew somebody hadn't got their notes until 16 weeks. Sounds as though there is a challenger for your worst midwife in the world!

Angelina77 · 06/11/2013 09:05

Oh dear, I hope not. She did have a cold and the appointment wasn't as long as I'd expected so maybe that's why? Didn't look like all the paperwork was finished when I left. I'll ring her on Friday with the scan results anyway, I said I would let her know.

Noob question - why do I need my notes anyway? In case I need to go to EPU so they know my history etc? If that's the case it is shoddy considering my history (2 MCs).

FeatherFeather11 · 06/11/2013 09:13

So when do you get a midwife? All I've done is call the FC to tell them and they booked me in for a seven week scan. Should I tell my gp or anything? Oh, god, I know NOTHING!

BelissimaLol · 06/11/2013 09:15

Angel you need your notes - and will be asked to carry it with you in the last few weeks of pg - as they have no info on computer so the book is all they have about your pg.
I got quite attached to mine in the end and was not happy to give it back to hospital after baby was born Grin.
Merk waiting for news on your baby girl. And for scan pics in fb!!!

The sickness thing is a bastard either way in my opinion! You either feel crap, and if you don't (like I didn't) you then spend your whole time worrying something is wrong. Hopefully you will feel better after 12 week scan. It's the toughest time, these early weeks but it does get better I promise Smile

BelissimaLol · 06/11/2013 09:18

Feather I had to call my gp and had a quick app where I told her I was pg. she then sent my details somewhere and I got a letter inviting me for booking in app with mw. Don't panic. Nobody knows anything that early! I still feel like that 14 weeks after I had the baby

Boomgoestheweasel · 06/11/2013 09:19

Angel sorry for being slow, but was this just your first contact appointment? In which case you should have another proper booking in appointment at 10-12 weeks, where she should fill in all the paperwork and blood forms for your scans, take your booking bloods etc. If this wasn't done at the first appointment and you don't have another mw appointment until 16wks, it's possible that either your scan appointment will also incorporate your booking appointment, or that she's made a cock-up! I didn't get my paperwork until the official 'booking in' appointment at nearly 11wks.

Actually, your notes aren't much use to you early on, once they have your blood results/scan results and records of any tests/investigations in them they are more important if you're admitted in an emergency or at a different hospital to the one which has your details on record. TBH EPU would rarely read your notes as usually you don't have them that early, they tend to go on the history you give them, which I presume would include your two previous mcs. In a perfect world they would look up your medical history before seeing you, but alas that very rarely happens even at a consultant appt (my consultant didn't know why he was seeing me and had no idea I was having twins Shock)

Sorry, went off on a mad rant there!

Kat I yoga-ed last night. I LOVE it!

Sorry for the buggy question, but quod did you also get the carrycot for newborns?

Angelina77 · 06/11/2013 09:27

Hi boom it was my booking in appt, she took bloods etc and filled in a big green form. It was early (6+4) because I rang the GP at 4 wks and this was her first available slot so I took it. They said it didn't matter if it was early (most people have it from 8 wks I believe?)

I'm not going to get precious about the notes if I don't need them, I don't want to start out by irritating her this early on (I'm sure I will later on knowing what a massive, panicking wuss I can be Grin).

CatsCantFlyFast · 06/11/2013 09:32

Feather your scan and appointment with the FC is a 'bonus'. You still need to contact your GP to get a booking in appointment with your midwife, and you can do that now.

I've been chucked out of my scan for baby being in an awkward position! We've tried me lying in different positions, going to the loo, jumping up and down...

CatsCantFlyFast · 06/11/2013 09:33

...posted too soon. So having to wait half an hour and go back in

Boomgoestheweasel · 06/11/2013 09:33

Hmm well then it sounds like she is indeed just crap! I don't think you'd annoy her by phoning to ask, it's her fault for not explaining what would happen properly anyway..

Foodylicious · 06/11/2013 09:37

Thanks guys, tally think i am staying just hydratated enough (i.e not voming up everything) but its getting more erratic now. Eating used to help really well but its a bit hit and miss now. I have some multistixs, may do one later. Just being a bit pathetic when everything seems like such an effort. I was really pleased last eve that I had managed to drink a pint of squash (over a couple of hours), then up it came with half my tea too. was so annoyed I could have cried. managed to eat some fruit after though trying to have foods with water in them.
On a positive note I have actually slept and not been ill during the night. had some pretty horrific dreams (its a good thing they fade!) but have managed to make a coffee and have a bit of breakfast in bed without being ill first. Winner.
feather I am 8 weeks, you never know the sickness might not catch you!
belissima I still spend the whole time worrying everything is wrong.
Here's to today being a better day, am going to get an appt with my doc tomorrow or friday. I went in to work yesterday to talk to my boss about why I was off and for him to refer me to occy health, hoping I could go back next week. If the last 2 days are anything to go by I have no chance, but we will see.

Kitty & Merk fx for today! thinking of you both!
feather ring your Drs surgery and ask for a booking appt with midwife, they will ask you how many weeks you are and book you in! Usually no need to see your GP unless you have medical issues or are on meds that you want to discuss. www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/antenatal-midwife-care-pregnant.aspx is a page I go back to to remind me what should be going on re appts etc.

Boomgoestheweasel · 06/11/2013 09:43

Oh foody sounds crap, you poor thing. I feel for you with the dreams too, I had an awful one last night which scared me even though I really don't believe in dreams and I had to get the doppler out immediately when I woke up to check it hadn't been true!

CatsCantFlyFast · 06/11/2013 10:11

Am back, all ok, will put (funny) pic up soon.
If I'm reading my notes right her head circumference is 17cm ShockShockShockShock
That sounds very big (I know its bang on average but still)
