Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

shazz I think it's best to wake her as you've done. If she's still tired she'll feed and then go back off to sleep again. Sounds like good sleeping though. Also I have been told that even though you might feel totally empty your breasts still make milk on demand so as long as the baby is suckling they'll be getting something.

Me and Ringlet slept for 12 hours last night - with two bottle breaks of course but even so. I have perfected a bottle making technique that means I don't have to get out of bed which makes things easier.

Christmas tree is going up today. I'm also taking dd1 Christmas shopping and also getting her to choose a present for a child her age that we will wrap and take to the church as they have a collection every year. Trying to explain this to her has proved beyond me, she has no concept of poverty.

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/12/2013 11:04

Thanks onion. She didn't go back down and since 6 this morning we've had another 2 feeds and about a half hour kip. So I don't think I'll leave her so long tonight if it happens again. She is obviously like her dad when it comes to sleeping Smile

12 hours sounds blissful. After all this time you deserve it. I'm intrigued about the bottle making that means you don't even have to get out of bed. Do you have the bottle equivalent of a teasmaid?

Dildals · 14/12/2013 11:04

Hey shazz better to have woken her I think, but it's hard waking a sleeping baby!

onion good going!

We had a bit of a shocker last night at chez Dildals. I was pretty tired after coming home late from Somerset the night before and ready to go to bed. I ventured up only to find that Bella had projectile vomited all over my side of the bed. Unfortunately the duvet was turned down on my side so it required a full change of sheets. The monitor was on but I didn't see her doing the chunder, must have been quite a sight!
At this point of course missy is fast asleep and as I said hard to wake a sleeping baby! So I let her sleep to her next feed, me sitting there aaarghhh I want to go to sleep! Then when she woke up I fed her, then I had to change her sleepsuit because it was covered, plus change a full nappy. At which point she was upset with me changing her so much she wanted to feed again! So, lights finally out, I am giving her a hug ... then the tell tale sign of a baby bum erupting in wet poo splatters! Another nappy change! Anyway. We kept eachother entertained for 2 hrs until Mother was finally allowed to rest her head on pillow. Then, it gets even better. DH is out on the lash, Friday night and all. We had pre-agreed that he would sleep in the guest bedroom because his snoring doesn't exactly get any better after a drink. So I thought nothing of it when I didn't hear him come home. I did check my phone (I turn mine off, but turn it on for feeds) but no messages. So this morning I do hear some annoying DIY noise type banging but think nothing of it. It is not a baby crying so why should I wake up? Then at 9.30 I hear the door knocker and I think it might be a delivery. Turns out I open the door to DH, in my leopard print dressing gown, with the entire street watching, because the poor man (baby no 2, or no1 as he put it) has been knocking the door down all last night and this morning. He lost his keys, and his coat, and his wallet ... He slept at the downstairs flat last night, he woke them up last night with his banging. Did I mention that he lost his keys last weekend as well? Luckily he came home during a Bella feed that time, so I let him in!

Have you seen those cuddly toys that you can attach to dummies and that clip on to prams or clothes so that babies don't lose them? I may have to get him one for his firkin keys!

It's official. I married a numptie.

OnionRing · 14/12/2013 12:28

Oh dear god dildals I would be furious! But secretly amused. I hope he is mortified. I'm secretly glad DH isn't going on his department night out as the last train home is at 10pm and he'd inevitably miss it and then go missing for 24 hours.

Bad luck on the vomit / poo / bed interface too. It's infuriating when you have a perfect storm like that. I have often tried to prepare for that by having spare sleepsuits, sleeping bags etc to hand but there's always something you don't have and once you've got up and had to put lights on it's game over. Although I remember going into DD1 one morning and she'd silently puked in the night and just rolled over and gone back to sleep in it. I was horrified.

shazz it might be that more regular feeds keep her asleep longer if you know what I mean as she won't get too hungry / agitated. You'll suss her out (and then she'll instantly change her ways!)

Not a teasmade but as she's over six months I've started adding cold tap water to feeds to cool them down quicker. I take 3 sterilised bottles, a flask of boiling water, a sterilised bottle of cold tap water and pre measured containers of formula to bed. All just about fit on the bedside table. When she wants a feed I add 60mls boiling water to a bottle, add the powder, shake it up for a minute to kill any bacteria and then add 90mls cold water which brings it down to the exact temp she likes instantly. I made this method up based on the electric Tommee Tippee Nespresso style bottle maker upper, but I can't think of why it would be problematic for an older baby as she drinks tap water already from any old cup. The important thing seems to be making sure the powder is steeped in boiling water for a while to kill any bacteria.

Tree still not up. Dd1 has pulled her coat hooks off the wall. I am half way through cleaning the bathroom and the washing machine won't start. Ringlet is asleep on me (of course) so I'm trapped upstairs. I've had no breakfast and am desperate for a bacon butty. Grrrr.

fairypangolin · 14/12/2013 12:57

You must have an enormous bedside table onion!

In the car so quick post only but shazza Pangolina sometimes goes for a long time between feeds (record was from 6:30pm until 3:30am- im not bragging!)and I have woken her up to feed her because I just start leaking everywhere. Don't worry she'll even out.

dildals sounds like quite the night! :-)

OnionRing · 14/12/2013 18:39

Actually, I often took leaking as a cue to wake her. It's presumably natures way of reminding you.

It all fits onto one smallish round tray fairy. It does sound a lot though.

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 00:35

Oh dildals that is a brilliant story. Grin Poor mrD. And poor you and bella with the vomit and poo.

Onion I'm so impressed with the bottle making science. What would you do if ringlet was less than 6 months? Are you not allowed to use cold water? Does if have to cool on its own? Thank goodness I'm Breastfeeding. If be rubbish with a bottle m. I'm sure I'd forget something vital. Did you get your tree up in the end? I feel out of the Christmas prep. No decorations in this house band no pressies bought either.

Fairy that is a mammoth sleep. How old was pangolina when she did that?

Well we have had a challenging evening. Shazlett finally asleep after 4-5 hrs of crying on and off. Alarm is set to wake her up for next feed. I'm shagged out now. (Sadly not literally. Them were the days Wink)

OnionRing · 15/12/2013 00:56

Them were the days indeed. She sounds a bit colicky? It's very challenging but they do grow out of it around 12 weeks. That'll seem like an age off at the moment though. Hope you get some sleep before the alarm goes off.

I'm up too as Ringlet was vomiting all evening. I starved her for three hours and have just let her have a bottle so am waiting for her to puke it back up. Bed is covered in towels at the ready. My other fear is that DD1 will start so I'm listening out for her too, I'll not sleep a wink. DH is snoring away of course.

Babies under six months aren't allowed tap water so that's why you couldn't add it to a bottle. I'm not sure whether you could use cooled boiled water in the same way but it would probably have to be kept refrigerated and not on the bedside table.

Tree is up and is garishly lovely. Other decs are up too and even a few presents wrapped. I think you definitely get let off all that this year, shazz.

Ginestas · 15/12/2013 04:18

Just to let you know my waters went quite spectacularly tonight! I'm not in labour so they are inducing me due to the GBS. Had gas and air for the pessary which was ace. Watch this space...

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 04:54

Gin that is so exciting! I hope you had your bed pads on GrinGrin. Good luck honey. Can't wait to meet Ginster. Gosh I'm really excited now.

Onion poor ringlet. I hope you got some sleep. I'm wracked with guilt. Set an alarm then turned it off and went back to sleep. Shazlett ended up sleeping for over 4 hours so that's 5 hrs without food. Not as bad as yesterday's 7 hrs but longer than I intended. Anyway she is feeding now. Fingers crossed she goes back down. She has terrible wind and digestion bless her. We had 12 poos yesterday. She cries and cries, farts, poos, stops crying for abit then starts again.

DP also snoring. Clearly the novelty of waking up, mAking me 4 o'clocksies and sitting up in bed with me admiring our beautiful baby has worn off. It's only been3 weeks. Oh well it was nice to have his company in the wee hours while it lasted.

Nokkie73 · 15/12/2013 06:52

Oh squeeee gin. I hope everything is going well with you and that you are ripped to the tits on gas and air. I shall be thinking of you today.

I have bad preggo insomnia. I have decided not to fight it any more and get up. Bah humbug.

So I believe sweetie is up next then ? I do find it hilarious that they talk about 'evicting' the twins, like they are some kind of terrible defaulting tenants. Or big brother contestants. 'Day 259 in the Sweetie Womble and DT1 is in the diary room complaining about the lack of space' etc. I could go on (please don't. Ed).

dildals you are saintly for putting up with DH's pissed-up antics. One question...how did he get hold of your leopard print dressing gown ? Hmm

motor sorry you have been having a bad time of it. I hope things have settled down a bit for you now.

Well the in-laws have finally gone. It was lovely to see them but is equally lovely to have a bit of peace again. The nursery is finally done and I can relax a bit now. I will be seeing the midwife tomorrow. 38+1 today so this shit just got real Grin

choco yippee for your pregnancy. As Good Mother Onions said, it's lovely to have some new blood around these parts !

Hello to everyone else. Wha'a'g'wan ?

MotorcycleMama · 15/12/2013 07:53

How exciting gin - best of luck, and I can't wait for an update!

nokkie Grin at the big brother eviction for sweetie's twins. You're so close, and so organised! Are you excited? I'm feeling fine really, I just seem to swing from elated wonderment that I am pregnant to feeling low, but it is short-lived, thankfully.

Glad to hear that shazzlett is having some good sleeps shazza. How are you feeling in yourself now? Did you see your GP? I hope that having some sleep has improved things a bit for you.

Oh dear onion - I hope the vomming has stopped in your household and you have managed to get some sleep.

I am doing extensive googling research into induction vs CS, as although I am not worried about induction per se, I am concerned that if they insist on induction at 40 weeks, my body will not be ready, thus increasing the risk of failed induction, followed by emergency CS. I would like to propose that if membrane sweep and pessaries fail to kick-start me into labour, I go straight to CS, missing out the syntocinon drip. Can any of you say if this sounds like a reasonable proposition to put the the consultant and midwives?

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 09:25

Hi Noks I also did a double take when dildals said that she opened the door to DH in her dressing gown! Glad the nursery is done finally. Oh it's real alright. The nipper will be here before you know it to rascal up your household.

Motor glad you are ok. I'm not sure if there will be a choice between induction and cs. Obviously I had both and it was only cause shazlett was in a funny position that I had the cs. Although 3 weeks in I'm healing well it still is sore and its major surgery which meant that for the first few weeks I couldn't even lift the baby from certain positions or get out of bed on my own. I can't carry her in a sling which was what Id hoped to do and I can't get out and about easily yet. So I guess if you can avoid it I would but having said that I'm glad that I had the cs instead of forceps.

chocolocodowninacapulco · 15/12/2013 10:03

Thanks for the welcome everybody. It feels surreal to be joining you. Huge congratulations for all the babies on here and look forward to hearing all about the imminent arrivals.

dildals I was chocoloco1 in the old days!

keep I'm not sure if I was one of the first to get a BFP on the old thread, I was about a week behind the lovely shazza I think.

Thankfully I have lots of symptoms for now to keep me reassured. Feeling nauseous all day, sore boobs and a good bit of insomnia at around 2.30 every morning. I braved a digi today and it was 2-3 weeks, so all good. I'm going to try to wait just over a week now to do another one to hopefully see the 3+. That will be an important milestone for me as that's when things started to go wrong in March and the dreaded digi numbers started to reduce. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a different pregnancy and especially with the DE I have a much better chance. My 'early scan' will be at 8+6 by the clinic's reckonings and 9+2 by mine. Do you remember when yours were?

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 10:39

Hi choco my first scan was 7+6. It felt like an eternity to wait. You are right, this is a different pregnancy. Try to keep reminding yourself of that. Although it is entirely natural to worry. That's what we are all here for.

Today you are pregnant. Enjoy it Grin. X

keepitgoing · 15/12/2013 10:42

Ooh gin how exciting!! Good luck.

choco I had one at 7+4, saw hb and a blob. Why are your days different to the clinic? The day of ec will be 2 weeks, doesn't matter about af. Glad you've got symptoms and an obliging digi. I'm sure you know though that digi can be very dangerous and make people freak out for no reason...

shaz we had 6-9 crying last night, luckily the night wasn't too bad.

motor I'd avoid a cs I think if poss. Though I believe recovery from am elcs is much quicker. But hopefully you'll go into labour before then.

sweetie enjoy your last day ever of peace x

noks how are you finding ML?

Dildals · 15/12/2013 11:46

That read wrong, I meant to say I opened the door in my leopard print dressing gown, with the whole street watching. Not my DH. He was dressed in his M&S cashmere, sans coat.

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 12:54

Heehee dildals!

SweetieTime · 15/12/2013 13:32

Gin I cannot believe you are going to beat me to new born snuggles. Thinking of you today, hope all goes well.

Dildals I thought you meant DH was dressed in your leopard print dressing gown too. I was laughing my head off at the thought, but I had wondered how he had got hold of it without you realising. I would tell that tale too as it adds to the comedy value. DH was banned from his Christmas works do this year after peeing in the dogs crate last year, fortunately the dog was asleep on the bed with me so no real harm done but am going to have to keep a close watch next year in case cots look like a favourable pee stop!!!

choco congratulations on your BFP, glad you are having loads of symptoms - very reassuring.

motor I have chosen to have ELCS over induction. I was told I could be days waiting for the induction to proper kick in as it would be done at 37 weeks and the twins might be happy to stay put which we now know they obviously are. And I had to stay in the hospital all this time while it works. I would rather just get it over with and deal with the consequences post op knowing my babies are here. Also I was very anxious of the whole natural birth bit especially with twins and the high possibility of ending up with EMCS anyway. I found my GP MW supportive but hospital MW not so and wanting to send me down natural route. But I got ELCS in the end after many discussions with various different people.

Noks that is exacting how I feel about the eviction, your narrative of it made me chuckle though. They have defo outstayed their welcome now, I want my womble back!!!

Well we have had our last ever lie in, popped to shops for provisions for DH tomorrow and fitted the car seats. Hospital MW has just rung to go through details of tomorrow. I am 1 or 2 on the list at the moment so even if any EMCS occur I should be done in the morning fingers crossed

We have just had a moment of panic as we realise the microwave steriliser doesn't fit in our microwave!!! Proper schoolboy error. I have been on mat leave 5 weeks and only just tried it today. So poor DH is on a mercy mission to try to get us a plug in one.

Buzzybee123 · 15/12/2013 14:08

gin good luck

sweetie good luck for tomorrow

OP posts:
Nokkie73 · 15/12/2013 15:22

dildals I did wonder about the leopard print dressing gown. I thought that you would equip DH with one every time he goes out on the piss. 'Now then dear, have you got your keys, phone, wallet and my leopard print dressing gown for mincing up and down the street in whilst pissed out of your head ? Excellent. Have a splendid time. Love yoooooo'. I do hope he is doing some sort of punishment for such a shameful display ? Grin

motor glad to hear that you have mostly shaken off the black dog of depression. I do think that dark moments are bound to crop-up. We've all had a difficult time getting to this point so don't feel too bad when they do happen. I can't help with the ELCS/induction issue. I have a bucket of sand which I regularly stick my head in about these things. Myth can have a lend if you like.

sweetie OMG. Grin I really wish you all the very best for tomorrow. You'll be fine. We want loads of photos of DT's please demanding

keep now that the nursery is finished, I can relax and enjoy ML. It's a bit of an odd feeling not knowing quite how long I have left of pottering about. I see the midwife tomorrow so should have a but more of an idea (hopefully). How is DD ? Is she behaving ?

shazza poor DD for crying. That article dildals popped on FB about the crying thing was really interesting and very enlightening. When are you off on your travels for Christmas ? How is the recovery going ? I really hope you're not taking too much on, considering what you've been through stern

I suppose now would be an absolutely terrible time to become hooked on One Born Every Minute -daft old bint-- ?

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 16:05

Noks only now can I watch OBEM. I was way to scared before the birth. Now I'm googling cesarean on you tube cause I'm dying to know what they did! I can't believe you are so close either. You've come a long way since we first met on Good Friday Grin

Sweetie best of luck for tomorrow. So exciting to think that this time tomorrow you will have your beautiful babies in your arms. Looking forward to the pics.

Gin what's happening???

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 16:10

Oh I forgot. We are going to my parents next Thursday for xmasthen have to decide if we are going to the northern badlands for NYE. Depends how I feel. I am feeling better thanks. Both physically and emotionally. I'm abit teary today but then I'm also tired.
All 3 of us are going for an afternoon nap now. Lovely xx

eurochick · 15/12/2013 16:12

I'm a sometime lurker on this thread but I wanted to post to cheer on gin! Looking forward to the next update. What an amazing Xmas you will have this year.

Best wishes to all of you. I love reading tales of your pregnancies progressing and handling your new arrivals. x

Shazzamattazzerly · 15/12/2013 16:30

Euro! So great to hear from you. How the devil are you?

Just in case I was in danger of portraying us as the waltons, The group nap has ended already in a screaming fit and a pooey nappy Smile. Oh well.
