Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

Hello all!
As per - sorry I'm so behind AGAIN! Shazz your Downton catch-ups and crochet sessions sound lovely. I wish I was more creative. Buzzy I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and LOL re the having the bambino for the midwife comment! Gin if you fancy an inter-family fart-off I reckon we'd be able to give you a run for your money. Is it wrong that I get thoroughly amused by the baby jumping in response to her mum doing a loud trump? Makes me giggle every time. Dildals maybe we can co-ordinate clocks and meet in Sainsbos at an unholy hour and bring our mutual friends too (Who am I kidding - their babies sleep through the night!). Keep hurrah for mat leave and an engaging sproglet! It was my first day of mat leave today too. I've just been googling batch cooking recipes :)
Waves and love to onion, motorcycle crisps sweetie fairy and anyone else I've missed.
First day of mat leave was lovely. Met a friend and her 10 month old daughter for brunch, then came home and pottered, then visited a nursery which I actually liked and which is likely to have a place for me next year if I want it (punches air), napped, ironed, and have now got the tea on. I reckon I could get used to this lark. Imagine mat leave will feel a WEE bit different when Missy HY is here. Got a John Lewis order being delivered tomorrow which includes a berry coloured, fur trimmed snowsuit which I eyeballed on the website months ago and still get gooey every time I think of it/ see it. Just having a vision now of MrHY walking round Dulwich Park with her in her snowsuit and tucked into the sling. In this vision I'm tripping after them at my pre-pregnancy weight (or smaller) but in reality I'll probably be at home surrounded by laundry and leaking milk everywhere. Oh well! xx

shazza that is extremely bad advice from your MW. The baby is NOT safe between you and DP, it's safest between you and the cot. Men don't always have the instinct not to roll on the baby, mothers have the instinct and especially breast feeders. My DH definitely doesn't! We sleep DH, me, Ringlet then her (empty) cot.

It's also not a good idea to lie a baby on a duvet as it's too soft and you or DH moving could roll the baby face down. The baby is safest in their own sleeping bag on a stretched flat bottom sheet and keep your duvet well away from them. I have the duvet up to my waist and I wear a couple of long sleeved tops to keep warm. No pillows near the baby either.

Sorry for lecture but if you bed share it's so so important to do it safely! Google UNICEF safe bedsharing for proper guidelines and I would tell the MW she's giving people dangerous advice. In fact I'm angry she's giving people wrong advice.

Blanket sounds lovely. I hope you finish it!

keep gulp at your whopper!

I've kind of given up on ringlets sleep / feeding for now. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and then try and move her to her own room and see what happens. Her room has a sofa bed in it too so I will make that up and this can sleep in there if necessary.

Ha ha at pre pregnancy weight or smaller mrsHY. I cannot shift these last few pounds because I can't bloody well stop eating! Pate on toast for lunch... Gorgeous though.

My jeans went through at the knee today as I knelt down to clean the toilet floor. That's all the glamour of my mat leave life right there!

Evening from a very snotty Norks Towers. Some selfish half-witted fuckface has been spreading germs in the office and I have now got them. He was sitting near my filing cabinet and put his fucking skanky snot rags on top of it, so now I have a cold. I am quite cross about this, as you can probably tell. I have two weeks left at work and an absolute shed load of stuff to do - If I have to take any time off and postpone my maternity leave, I shall personally see to it that he is tortured to death.

Anyway, I need to leave work because I am surrounded by stupid people. Not people in my team, but others. Why is it when you're preggers, people feel like they have carte blanche to comment on your appearance ? I had the shouty mental woman from the team next to mine come up to me last week and say 'you want to stop eating all those pies'. Oh, DO fuck off. I had another, quite frankly, daft exchange with someone I vaguely know last week too. Her:oh congratulations. Me: thank you very much. Her: when is it due ? Me: towards the end of the year. Her: wow, you are tiny (for the record, I am not tiny). Me: oh am I ? I'm due on 28th December. Her: what...this December ? Confused no! next fecking December. I decided to have the longest gestation period known to mankind. Now move away from me you idiot, just in case the dose of stupid you clearly have is catching. Fecking Jesus, they're out there, the standing army of dim wits! and they are coming for us all. Angry

Oh, and a tip for those want a nappy sanitiser thingy (what you put dirty nappies in and they're kept securely until you have a few of them and can throw them out) but haven't got one yet, they're selling them for a tenner in Babies r Us. Bargain. They're made by Tommee Tippee, whoever the frig he was/is.

One of my mother-in-laws knitted me some of the most gorgeous little hats and cardigans and sent them down this weekend. They are tiny. I had a real moment when I opened the parcel - I am going to be a mummy in a few weeks. Wow. A snot ridden, sweary mummy, but a mummy, just the same. T'is amazing.

We're due a deluge of bambinos on here very soon. It will be great to have some to keep Ringlet, Pangolina and Bella company.

Waves a snotty tissue in the directions of everyone on here Grin

shaz i play her baby mozart on youtube, it relaxes the both of us! Did you say earlier you wanted to meet up? Am happy to venture into your bit of town.

keep i have very fond memories of pethidine.... :) it was lovely. As well as the oramorf afters. I think I am quite into painkillers ;). Love how the MW is trying to tell you labour is easier with a big 'un. Have visions of kip breaking himself out!

I am with onion on the bedsharing. DH doesnt have the same sixth sense.

Re weight gain. I am telling myself that my body is holding on to a couple of extra kgs for BFing which will shift automatically when I stop BFing.

Hi, just checking in as awake! Went for early scan today (anxiety got the better of me) and all is good 8+1 which is just right. Was a really clear scan and she zoomed in and out so we could see really well, could even see what will be umbilical cord. So feeling a bit better. Fed up of voming and insomnia though, had almost no sleep sun night and could not nap yesterday, yet here I am awake by 2.30. Grrrrrr. Go ahead bars are ace though.
Lovely to read all your news, jealous of crocheting, smiling at thought of pethadine being pushed, really? Stupid mws. Its fine to have I am sure but sounds like they want to make it easier on them! Try to get back to sleep now before I feel sick again.

foody!! I've been wondering where you were. I'm so pleased you had a good scan - am sure you know how good your chances are now. Congratulations!!

noks I honestly think people just don't know what to say, and many think its better to say you're small than that you're huge. I wish you'd told the lady you're carrying a baby elephant, I think they have a 22 month pregnancy... If you don't finish at work just fuck it, and go anyway!! They'll cope. Oh and our nct lady did actually say babies can push up with their feet on the way out oh god

Hello all,

Apologies for being missing in action. have been jn a bit of a bubble lately. Will read back and do a prope post later as am on phone at work. Scan tomorrow so trying to quell the panic. still no sickness or major symptoms which fuels way too much stressing. I am not bleeding, I have no cramps, chances are things will be fine. this is my mantra.
Waves to all - very excited about imminent arrivals :-)

shazz gin & mrsHY I got given some baby boy newborn stuff. Do you want me to hold on to it for you? I also have a few tiny baby vests and sleepsuits. Are you harbouring bruisers? Bit hard to know whether you will give birth to a mini baby. It's nothing fancy by the way. Otherwise it is going to go on the East Dulwich forum and no doubt to a good home. I have already given away 3 pairs of maternity jeans and donated lots back to the neonatal ward. With Bella's baby stuff I am half inclined to keep it, to show her later how dinky she was!

Report
keepitgoing · 05/11/2013 14:49

dildals i'd keep a couple of Bella's teeny outfits to show her. How big is she now? Is she putting on weight nicely? Do you have to express or bottlefeed her at all, or is BF enough for her?

Report
OnionRing · 05/11/2013 14:50

Keep some dildals! We have some dolls and teddies dressed in new born stuff.

noks how very modern. Wait until you have to explain it all to the nokita. I have recently failed to explain why DH doesn't have a dad that we know and also what a half sister is.

Good luck madness

I always thought, inasmuch as I thought about it, that Tommee Tippee was a bear. It's a ridiculous brand name but I googled it and the original logo was a dog. A dog called Tommee. Bloody Yanks. It sounds like a rap name to me.

gin I've always enjoyed pethidine when I've had it but I wouldn't want it during labour, it would make me feel too spaced out. I suppose MW may like it because it's easy to administer and temporary, unlike an epidural. It can make the baby sleepy though, which is why I think a lot of drs/MW are against it.

mrs sounds like an ace start to your mat leave!

noks if you're a seahorse your DH will be carrying the baby (www.bio.davidson.edu/Courses/anphys/2000/Cook/Reproduction.htm). You'd have no excuse for being either too huge or too small. Grin

shazza I always keep Pangolina between me and the bed edge as well. I don't trust DH not to roll too close to her or pull the duvet up over her. She gets her own space with no duvet or pillow anywhere near. It means I always have to sleep on one side though because I get paranoid if I roll over on the other that I'm going to accidentally pull the duvet over her. I've just been swaddling her so far but it's getting colder so I may switch to the sleeping bag soon.

foody big congrats on the positive scan. How well I remember the nausea - well, actually not very well at all! Hope it ends with the first trimester for you.

Pangolina and I had a lovely walk into town and back, including a latte at Cafe Nero with all the other mummies - and there are LOTS. She is still sleeping quite a bit at the moment so I am revelling in it. Then when she wakes up she goggles around with her eyebrows raised in the cutest expression for ages. DS used to wake up bellowing for a feed so this is quite different.

Hello ladies
No news here yet. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. CRIKEY!!! Shazlett is swinging low. I'm getting loads of twinges in the foof.

Gin good knitted haul. We are in a flat. On good terms with downstairs. They have a son who plays drums in a heavy metal band and a daughter who is in musical theatre. So I reckon it's my turn to make some noise. Also next doors kids run riot screaming late at night so again I'm not too bothered. Only a week and a half til mat leave. You'll be fine. Ill have a real live baybee we can play with soon enough. Grin

MrsH I'm very impressed with your productive 1st day of mat leave. The JL snowsuit sounds divine. Missy will look gorgeous out and about.
Onion thanks for the bed share tips. I'm surprised at our MWs. They were so brilliant in the antenatal classes. I've got the cot by the bed so shazlett will hopefully rest in there. You 'll be the first to hear if there is any news Wink

Noks poor you being ill. Hilarious conversations at work! Astoundingly stupid people ( and slightly worrying given where you work!)

Dildals we are meeting at a milk spot on Friday. I'll PM you tomorrow when I'm on a computer. I don't know if I'm harbouring a boy child but donations gratefully received if I am. Thanks

Foody hurrah for your scan. That us brilliant news. Sorry you are feeling sick but it's a positive sign.

Keep eek at the pushing with the feet to get out. You have had a lot of under the rib action already haven't you? I've avoided that luckily.

Madness good luck with your scan.

Fairy thanks also for the bed sharing tips. Your walk sounds lovely. It's nice to get out and about. I'm wondering if I will be brave enough to ever leave the flat when shazlett is here.

Well better dash. We are going dancing tonight. Not sure how much I'll be able to do but it willbe nice to see everyone.

Hello to everyone else.

B and I had an appt at the paediatrics outpatient clinic today. First time. And I keep being surprised how full King's is with the old, dirty, diseased, obese and, basically, the great unwashed. Try and not feed your child KFC every day, then perhaps you don't need to be here, you twat. Anyway. I feel for the doctors.

B got weighed and we airpunched and hi-fived when the scales came in at 3.3kg (7 pounds 4). She's doing fine. She crept up from 9th percentile to 13th. Yay. And. I am so INCREDIBLY excited about the fact that the Dr gave me a prescription for special preterm baby formula, so I can give her a bottle of formula at 11 to send her off to sleep! Also it has more calories and I am quite dedicated to fatten this child up. She gets a bottle of expressed milk at the moment at 11pm so ... and if I keep expressing that means I will have a little extra in the milk bank for growth spurts. She will get seen every 3 months there, and at 2 she will get a thorough developmental check up. Really nice that they're keeping a good eye on her. (Did I mention I am really excited about the formula?) She's also getting an ultrasound for her hips. It doesn't look like anything wrong but her wonky mum had hip issues as a baby, so it's just to check it out.

shaz at a milk spot? What are you going to do there? Enjoy your dancing! You have my mobile nr anyway. Which will be useful if there would be ANY NEWS!

madness I can come give you a (virtual) dreamfeed with my special formula so you sleep well tonight and have a fabulous scan tomorrow!

Morning all,

shazz I am so impressed at you dancing at 39 weeks. Dancing is great (though I very rarely do) and the movement will be great for shazzlett.
Hooray for Bella's growth and weight gain dildals - a tribute to your dedication and hard work.
Good luck for your scan madness - I'm looking forward to hearing the report back.

I went to my first pregnancy yoga class yesterday. Unfortunately I couldn't really get into it because I started worrying that there had been less fetal movement than the previous days so I couldn't relax. When I got home I checked for the heartbeat, which was fine, but I am still worried. Over the weekend I was delighted to be able to sit and feel lots of movement and watch the twitching in my tummy. Yesterday very little at all. I know it is moving because the position of the heart changes when I put the monitor on it. Should I worry at 21 weeks, or is that too early to feel consistently?

Report
keepitgoing · 06/11/2013 08:43

motor I think that is too early to feel regular movement, because the baby is small and can move into a position where you would feel it less. Is there a position that makes it move more? For me its lying on my back. Or a cold drink or sth sweet. For me I only felt movement for the first time at 20 weeks, but my placenta is anterior. If you are worried phone the labour ward, you could go in for monitoring, but I honestly think its too early to monitor movement before about 25 weeks.

dildals that's brilliant news! So she's about the weight of a newborn :) Glad they are keeping an eye on her, I've heard by 2yo premmies have caught up?

mad good luck x
