Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

Ladies I've just realised that my first post this morning didn't post. That must have made my post to dildals abit odd!

Just to say that still no baby here but I managed to sleep last night propped up on a ton of pillows so today I feel much more resourceful and able to cope should labour spark up tonight. We have been on a long walk and had a nice lunch out. At home now to have a nap and clary sage bath.

Sweets up until now I've just put it in a burner. Apparently I need to add a couple of drops to milk to disperse it in the bath.

Beetle in my post I wrote that I'm thinking of you and your boys.

Onion so glad that you are reaping rewards for your efforts with ringlet.

Keep reading your beautiful post has spurred me on on my labour marathon. Fingers crossed tonight's the night.

We also have a sweep booked for the morning although I can change my mind if I want to

Hello to everyone else. Hope you are all ok and enjoying your days. Time for me to have a nap now. Smile

Buzzybee123 · 21/11/2013 17:27

beetle thinking of you and your boys

onion yay to getting some sleep

shazza hope tonight is the night

fairy I have some baby clipper set, not used them yet obviously Hmm not sure about biting

crisp I hear you on 'being over' pregnancy, I doubt its something I will miss

dildals i'm a messy dirty person so minibee will most likely be manky like me Hmm

I have just got some Raspberry leaf tea, plan to drink it right now :)

MotorcycleMama · 22/11/2013 08:47

I'm looking forward to catching up with you all at the weekend. I have had such a hectic week of in-laws and last night a trip to a gig in London, so I am drained.

I'm just waiting and hoping for news from beetle and shazza - love to you both. X

Dildals · 22/11/2013 09:26

crisps I remember loving having my ears cleaned when I was little! It's so satisfying getting the dirt out. I cant help fiddling with her ears when she's feeding, getting the milk out. I also love getting bogeys out of her nose.

MrsHY1 · 22/11/2013 09:42

Morning all
Dildals I think I will also want to pick bogeys, wax and milky residue out of my daughter, it sounds very cathartic. Bella looked totally adorable in her tutu the other day! Was so tempted to order one when I got home but DH has put me on a blanket ban on purchasing any new clothes!

Onion hope the hours of sleep are still racking up for you :)

shazz am thinking of you - good luck if you decide to go ahead with the supermarket sweep as I like to think of it - bet you that on examination though you won't need one and you'll be well on your way. Glad you're managing to nap between showtimes. We missed you the other day!

Keep I'm so pleased to hear you're loving it and that kip is feeding well :)

beetle I'm thinking of you and your boys.

buzzy did you go for the raspberry leaf tea bags or loose leaf? I'm now on the stronger stuff (loose leaf) and I have to say I much prefer the flavour too.

Waves to sweetie, Fairy, mama and anyone else I've missed.

Well, I'm pleased to report my yoni is no longer itchy or swollen! It seemed to get a little bit better by itself on Wednesday evening but then I saw the GP yesterday and she prescribed Canestan pessary and cream - the relief is palpable! So I suppose it was thrush - having never had it before I wasn't sure - but there you go! Crisps might be worth giving it a go? My GP was happy to treat it as thrush to see if it helped rather than taking any swabs or cultures first. Also had a lovely morning out yesterday at the local cinema's baby screening of Philomena - I went along with the two other mums I did hypnobirthing with (who both now have adorable daughters) and took it in turns to cuddle their babies while mine jiggled around inside :)

Today I'm going to make a batch of pea and ham soup for the freezer, go on a nice walk, buy some Christmas cards and then have an early birthday dinner with friends tonight. Oh, and nap. Again. More napping. Lovely. x

Ginestas · 22/11/2013 11:09

mrshy I too now really want a tutu, as Bella's was so cute, but am also not allowed to buy any more clothes ( apart from the knitted faux uggs I bought yesterday, classy eh?). I thought I may 'show' the tutus to my mum... A girls gotta have her party outfit right?

dildals it was lovely to meet you and Bella the other day (and to see everyone else of course!). You seem so at home with this motherhood lark. I'm sure I'll be a faffing mess.

beetle my thoughts are still with you. I really hope that things are going a bit better. I can't imagine how hard it must be x

shazz hope that you are pushing shazzlet out right now! We did miss you the other day. Hope you aren't too knackered.

onion pleased the CC seems to be working! How was last night?

Ha ha at the stories of picking gunge off babies. We had our 2nd and final NHS antenatal class in Weds, which was really good. They had a real live newborn and showed us how to bathe her. It made me feel all excited about things seeing such a cute baby, and also having met the gorgeous Bella that day.

We had our scan this morning and the ginster has made her mummy very happy by being head down! Hurrah! They booked my induction for 41 weeks due to the uterine blood flow issues I had earlier on, so that's on 21 Dec... We may just be out for Xmas! Suspect I'll be trying every trick in the book to get her out before then. When are you meant to start the raspberry leaf tea?!

keepitgoing · 22/11/2013 11:33

Brilliant gin!! Didn't you feel her turn?! Mist places say start at 35 weeks, upping dose as you go. What are you now?

Back over birth weight yesterday :)

Go shaz!! Sounds really tough and drawn out x

SweetieTime · 22/11/2013 11:54

Beetle hope you are ok and getting the RL care you need

Crisps dates are super foods and often used by doullas. There is research been undertaken to the effectiveness of dates in fertility treatment for both male & female factors. I have never found they have had a laxative effect on me.

Shazza did you go for a sweep in the end? Since you have been having the surges do you find that Shazlette is moving more or less than normal?

Buzzy I doubt I will miss feeling pregnant or the kicking & squirming in my tummy. People keep saying you will miss your bump etc but I really cannot think I will. I cannot complain as I have had a great pregnancy but am ready for my babies to be here now. Although I haven't dared to take any of my raspberry leaf capsules yet, I might wait until the weekend. Gin My reflexologist said she would advise to start taking raspberry leaf 3 weeks before due date in normal circumstances.

Gin great news on miniGin being head down, just goes to show they can still turn around very late on. How many days recovery have they told you before you will be released. That is very close to Christmas but at least you shouldn't have any unexpected visitors.

I have been batch cooking all week so we have about 20 little silver boxes of food in the freezer to see us through. I might make some more next week if I get chance.

I might go to the local twins club this afternoon, I am a bit scared it will be bedlam and it terrifies me of what I have to come. It is at our local Mothercare so can lurk and suss it out before committing to actually going.

ceara · 22/11/2013 14:06

beetle just to say like the others that I'm thinking of you all, I can't imagine how difficult it must be and I hope you are getting loads of support from the hospital and from people around you.

shazz you are an inspiration in remaining calm and collected. I'm glad you got some sleep last night and that the rest has helped rebuild your resources. Hoping that today's the day for you.

onion yaay to more sleep for you as well, dare I ask if the good run continued last night...?

keep it's lovely to hear things are going well with kip and how happy you all are.

What you say about a part of you missing pregnancy makes sense, though. I've got a feeling I am going to feel the same (even though I am going to worry until I have him here safely) but then I know I have been lucky so far to have got off lightly on the pregnancy-related physical aches and pains.

gin yaay to your baby co-operating (finally) and to you hopefully being back on track for the birth you wanted now. And who knows, now she's playing nice, the ginster may come in her own time before you have to be induced?

sweetie I'm glad you too are now on track for the birth you wanted, that's such good news. Will you have the option of going straight to a CS if you go into labour before 38 weeks, if you decide at the time that's what you want? Interesting to hear about the health visitor appointment. I have just annoyed mine by putting her off until after I start maternity leave as I couldn't really justify taking time out of work for something administrative rather than actual clinical care (though I didn't quite say it like that!). She sounded very young and inexperienced and tick-boxy on the phone, so I'm not setting my expectations too high ;-)

buzzy how is controlled caterwauling going? I think we are going to have to man up and have a serious go at this with our kitty, to teach him to sleep in another room at night for when we have the baby in with us. He can tantrum with the best, and he also has claws and teeth and a bit of an attitude, so I'm not looking forward to it :-)

gin and noks how has the first week of leisure and daytime TV gone? Does it still feel like annual leave and you'll have school on Monday or is the reality of maternity leave sinking in now? MrsHY you seem to have this maternity leave thing cracked. I am very jealous of all the napping :-)

Waves to everyone else.

Shazzamattazzerly · 22/11/2013 16:09

Just a quick check in to see if news from beetle.

Sorry for lack of personals. Tbh things not going well chez shaz. Am on 5th day of early labour. MW comjng at 6pm for examination. I feel so disappointed re hypnobirthing but at this point after 3 out of 4 days and nights with no sleep at all I'd get this baby out any which way possible. I'm so so tired from the continuous surges not getting anywhere. Sorry to moan. I know that I'm so lucky when beetle is in hospital.

Xx

MrsHY1 · 22/11/2013 16:58

Oh Shazz, just a quick one to say that you have to roll with the punches on this one, you couldn't possibly have done any more. The most important thing is to get you and Shazlett through it all and back home again, however that might transpire. Good luck xx

ceara · 22/11/2013 17:53

Oh shazz, I'm sorry shazlett still doesn't seem keen to come out any time soon. No wonder you are dragged down after so many days of early labour. I hope the midwife can offer some good advice and support this evening. As MrsHY says, the important thing is coming out the other side of all of this, however and wherever shazlett is born. As for the hypnobirthing, the techniques are resources and tools for you to use and I'm sure you've already been using them to get you this far, and I bet they will still help you and be a source of strength even if you and shazlett do also need to draw on more medical resources than originally planned. Good luck - thinking of you both and hoping for you that shazlett will be here soon.

fairypangolin · 22/11/2013 19:18

shazza I had a v similar experience in labour with DS. Labour was so slow and drawn out that I became too exhausted and dejected to keep on with the hypnobirthing. Also my waters had burst so I agreed to a syntocinon drip and epidural. I felt so bad about it afterward but I hope you Don't feel the same. There is only so much a person can take and what you're going through is so hard. As ceara said, hypnobirthing is only a set of tools and you've done so well to get so far. Whatever happens you're amazing.

Buzzybee123 · 22/11/2013 19:30

shazza hang on in there, you're doing a great job, hope the MW has been to check on you

mrsh I just got the teabags, when I get a bit further along I'll get the capsules, I was told from 30 weeks you could take it Hmm
I too have used caneston cream and have noticed little itching, I also used the old weed whacker too, it was so long I could have styled it Blush

ceara the CM seems to be going ok, but she is unpredictable so all could pear shaped tomorrow, thats the problem when you let the cat rule the roost Grin our sofas have been remodeled despite her having a scratch post

gin great news about the ginster :)

keep great news about kips weight

OP posts:
OnionRing · 22/11/2013 19:33

Oh shazza it must be getting very wearisome. I don't know whether this is the right thing to say but two friends of mine were in early labour for a week before their babies actually arrived. Neither had any induction and one was actually a home birth. I know it must be hard but try not to lose faith in yourself. I think there's a broad spectrum of labour lengths and keep is at one end and you're towards the other. Seconded that the hypnobirthing techniques will probably be useful regardless. I don't know whether you're trying to avoid examinations but I'd find out how many cm dilated I was, might be a pleasant surprise.

Gin that's unexpectedly brilliant news. I'm delighted for you.

Sweetie it's worth clarifying the early spontaneous labour / elective section arrangements. I was told to go in if I thought labour was starting and if I was anything under about 5cm they'd do a section there and then - but over that and the risks would outweight the benefits (presumably it becomes an emergency section then which they want to avoid).

Did you go to Twin Club? (The first rule of Twin Club is...)

MrsHY you definitely win at mat leave.

I had another 6 hours sleep last night and she didn't stir until 4.30. I'm planning on going downstairs tonight and having a glass or two of wine. I am a massive fan of controlled crying, even though it's awful!

Waves to everyone else.

SweetieTime · 22/11/2013 20:38

Shazza hang in there love, hope the MW can give you some answers when you see her this evening.

ceara the HV was an older lady who used to be a MW. She seemed ok but I think there are standard questions and boxes to tick.

For CS I have to tell them when I ring up in labour at any point now it is in my notes but as Onions says I need to check the specifics.

Onions thanks for tip, I will get clarification at my next appointment a week on Monday. I would imagine the situation would be similar but I will make sure I check.
Well done on the CC and enjoy your wine you deserve it.

Twins club was good, I expected it to be far louder with that many pre-school kids there so was pleasantly surprised by lots of children all playing together. I was talking to one of the twin Mums who turns out to live of my street!!! Talk about a small world, her b/g twins are 20 months old now so I am sure she will be a very good source of info. We have only moved in a couple of months ago which is why I might not have come across her.

ceara · 22/11/2013 21:50

buzzy scratching post usage we do have nailed. Herbal highs for kitties rock. As long as we keep the scratching post heavily laced with catnip, he scratches, dribbles and drools exclusively over that and doesn't fuss with the upholstery. Having said that, he is the first cat I've had who is in any way interested in catnip so we probably just got jammy. But I don't think drugging the cat is going to work for keeping him out of our room so we're going to have to tackle that the hard way.

Buzzybee123 · 23/11/2013 17:07

onion You cracked me up with the first rule of twin club Grin hope the wine was good last night

ceara I think we need to give our cat a catnip addiction, She wasn't happy when we swapped rooms over a few weeks back, she will be most put out when we make her bedroom the nursery and she has to sleep in the lounge

shazza and keep thinking of you both

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 23/11/2013 22:56

buzzy ceara my cat for the first time ever did a poo in the house after we came home with kip!! Now she is wary and unimpressed, esp with not being allowed to sleep on our bed...

shaz thinking of you, hope shazlett is here already.

onion am jealous of your sleep! Am finding the all night feeding and settling, with the interspersed hours of sleep vv hard. Days are a wonderful time, but nights are SO hard. I find myself thinking how I should still be snoozing my days away on ML...

OnionRing · 23/11/2013 23:10

Hmm keep, it's bloody hard isn't it and I'm no longer smug. Bit of a set back here with the cc. She was awful last night. Woke at 10pm and we didn't get her settled until 2 and that was only after I gave up and took her into our bed. Tonight she's done the same and I just don't know why she's doing it... I'm about to put her back in her cot and she's going to go mad.

Dildals · 24/11/2013 00:10

Keep - keep thinking 'it's just a phase, this won't last forever'. X

MotorcycleMama · 24/11/2013 08:45

Morning all. I love Sunday mornings, as DH sleeps in, I come downstairs and have a cup of tea and watch the movements in my bump, plan the week's meals, cuddle the cats, eat toast. Bliss.

I am finding it hard to concentrate though as am so keen to hear how shazza and beetle are getting on. You really are both in my thoughts, and I am so hoping that all is well. X

crisps sweetie mrsHY buzzy how're the preparations for labour going?

onion you have done so well with cc, so don't worry about it going off track for a couple of nights. You now know that it is difficult but it works, so you can get back on it as soon as ringlet allows.

keep that is both funny and horrible re your cat doing a poo in the house when you introduced the baby. Talk about territorial! My two have always been very well behaved, but I do wonder how they will react to being displaced somewhat.

Could I be really cheeky and ask whoever has the inclination to put up our list of where we all are please? I am getting rather lost!

Dildals · 24/11/2013 10:33
