Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:

I need to learn all about the rules - though I have a feeling a request can be turned down as long as they show they've given it proper consideration. I am hopeful still, though, as lots of people in my dept are part time - its just that my particular role is really busy, and needs FTE hours.

DH's new job has really flexible hours though, so we might be able to get him working p/t. Not sure he'd like being a SAHD though!

To be honest I don't know what to do :(

TeaAndANatter · 27/09/2013 15:23

Call the Maternity Alliance? I think they're still up and running. They were helpful in my first pregnancy for work advice. Good luck! Alternatively put laxatives in the fuckers tea

I swear the PG stress is making me really obscenely rude these days. I do apologise Grin

kjh5 · 27/09/2013 15:23

Fod is this about the spotting? I have had spotting and bleeding throughout my pregnancy so far. The midwives keep telling me (and the one I saw today reiterated this) that spotting is normal and nothing to worry about, cramping is normal and nothing to worry about. Some women do have heavy bleeds during pregnancy and usually this is nothing to worry about. If you are bleeding heavily and cramping then go to the hospital. But they have all told me that if I am at all worried to call or go in. So if you are feeling anxious then call them up to set your mind at rest ((hugs)) xxx

GardenWorm · 27/09/2013 15:26

Fod if you are feeling that worried ring someone NOW before they close for the weekend, midwife or EPU. However please remember brown spotting is old blood and can be perfectly normal, there are lots on this thread who have had spotting/bleeding at various stages of pregnancy. Try not to panic and ring if you feel you'll kick yourself if you don't. Is it the same as you described earlier? X

GuffSmuggler · 27/09/2013 15:34

Just had the midwife and she instantly found a lovely heartbeat, was SO relieved. Just got to make it through the next couple of weeks to the 20 week scan and feel I might be able to relax slightly... (yeah right)

Fod I would ring now, once they close down for the weekend you won't get anywhere. Try not to worry though, spotting is so common in healthy pregnancies.

Glad your booking went well kjh I found that particularly hard to get through for some reason.

fod27 · 27/09/2013 15:45

The only thing stopping me is that they picked up my previous bleed on my u/s so part of me thinks that it's from that (as it's yet to exit my body) my last u/s so showed that it had stopped bleeding... It's not in my knickers and it is minuscule

ThePFJ · 27/09/2013 16:13

Fod If its only a tiny bleed you should be fine - it's your call - you know when to make that call.... hugs xxxxx

Whatwillsantabring After the long messed up and horrific birth of DS there was no way I was going through that again... but I really really want him to have a brother or sister, so when I am old and crazy, surrounded by cats and stinking of whiskey - at least he doesn't have to out up with me alone!! I have to admit there are a few people out there that I wonder about having kids... but I guess it's not my place to judge - so keep my mouth shut I will... but I get your opinions completely!! I would never see a doctor or a dentist without everything clean and sparkling!! Wink

BlackberryandNettle · 27/09/2013 16:38

At work and very worried - on my phone typing, just been to loo and seen a tiny amount of blood staining - I have an odd very yellow discharge and some tinges of blood. Also had this at 9 weeks but since had an OK scan but still worried - I am 12+2, surely implantation should have stopped? Epu will have just closed now until Monday :-(

We have a scan on Tuesday but still the weekend ahead.

BlackberryandNettle · 27/09/2013 16:40

Just reading the page quickly and seen God has spotting too - right here with you for :-(

BlackberryandNettle · 27/09/2013 16:51

Oh sorry that should say fod

Santa - have a look into all the different things you can request under flexible working. Whilst you are correct they can turn it down if there is a real business reason why not - you can put extra pressure on them to make it work by suggesting options e.g could the role be done by job share? Could you work from home? There is lots to consider and might find a good solution for you
I'm one of those hideous HR people, ( Wink )so if you have any questions when the time comes, happy to help if I can

shellsocks · 27/09/2013 17:55

Sorry you are having spotting fod and blackberry hope you can speak to someone and get some reassurance Smile

I've been having such strong Braxton Hicks today and feeling sick I panicked and have just bought out mothercare in case this baby comes early ShockGrin I feel pleased now it's all bought (£380 tho Confused) but have no idea where it's gonna go in the house, and this baby aint coming for weeks - help!

BlackberryandNettle · 27/09/2013 18:55

I have gone to a&e. There are loads of people waiting but dh has joined me. I am worried I could have an infection, my colleague called her gynaecologist in Greece and he said very yellow discharge and spotting could be an infection. Hoping to be seen sooner rather than later, also hoping they can scan or Doppler.

BumpKitty · 27/09/2013 18:57

ooh shell what did you buy? I have been spending all my money on Christmas presents in an effort to get sorted before the baby arrives - good job it's pay day soon as I need to buy furniture and paint for DDs new room as the baby will have her current one.

I have been doing some nesting - I took a whole car full of carrier bags to the tip Blush and then cleaned my front door Hmm I also sorted out DDs play kitchen and put all the tea sets and food back in their original sets (this was particularly pointless and lasted about 15 seconds!)

BumpKitty · 27/09/2013 18:58

blackberry very yellow discharge can be normal - as its the mucous plug forming, does it smell?

pumpkinsweetie · 27/09/2013 19:22

Hope everything is well black, i'm sure it's something that can be made better x

BlackberryandNettle · 27/09/2013 20:09

Thanks pumpkin, bump and shell - on way home from a&e now, they could not do a scan or even Doppler but did examine me and the doctor says I have inflammation internally which may be due to thrush. However I have no itching, and not sure thrush would explain a very yellow discharge. Have posted on the main board and health board for advice. Bump - the discharge did not smell bad, just v odd colour and blood streaked.

Going home to sit out the weekend now.

Kat I have no energy to explain it now, but I'm also self employed and you are entitle to maternity pay a the full whack (rather than %) I'm actually better off on maternity pay Confused
If you remind me (or send a pm) I'll explain and send all the links and stuff. The important thing to remember is the government stuff is really REALLY badly worded and makes it sound like you won't get anything therefore there is no point in applying, however having done it twice already I promise you get the full entitlement (I can't remember how much exactly but I can find out that for you too)

BirdsDoIt · 27/09/2013 20:32

blackberry I had very yellow discharge too (sometimes a little bit greeny) around 10/11 weeks and others said they'd had this too. Now 12+6 and it's gone much milkier (sorry, tmi). Hope you're not worrying too much - I know it's difficult. Good you've got a scan early next week though.

fod if it's brown blood and you saw an old bleed on the u/s then it's almost certainly that. Has it got any heavier?

bumpkitty what a relief that your front door is clean now Smile That could make all the difference when baby arrives!

So I told my colleague and it went fine (i think) - had a good chat about what was going on with her too. Sod's law though that another friend of hers had told her at lunch that she was pg (after a number of mcs) too. So not great timing from that point of view! Glad it's out there now though, and will be trying not to have any baby-related conversations in her vicinity unless she initiates them (we sit next to each other at work). Yesterday we had a running commentary from a number of desks away (we're in an open plan office) on the progress of a colleague's sister's labour, which did my head in.

kat so pleased you've been able to change from nasty to nice midwife centre! And kjh that's brilliant that yours was a good 'un.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 27/09/2013 20:34

Could be thrush bump, I also get yellow discharge with thrush, it's sometimes a sign you've had it for a while

shellsocks · 27/09/2013 21:25

Sorry you had a bit of a wasted trip blackberry but sounds really hopeful its nothing to worry abt, hope you can relax over the weekend.

What didn't we buy bump Grin Car seat and base, swinging chair, Moses basket mattress, leaving hospital outfit (so hard to pick unisex!), all my bits and bobs like breast pads, nappies etc. for baby...and a little toy for DS of course Smile

fod27 · 27/09/2013 21:27

It had stopped almost as soon as it started, I had a afternoon sleep.. Our my feet up and popped a wheat bag on my tummy... So far so good.,, fx

black try to seek solace in the fact that we are now out of the woods in some respects. It's terribly scary though as the moment you feel you have surpassed one milestone something else comes along to throw you off balance again. Thinking of you xxxxx
