Pregnant and Angry Women

I think I must be going mad ... has anyone felt like this during their pregnancy ?? Instead of either having serene and sedately thoughts, or even getting teary and emotional, my emotions are completely the opposite. I tend to get very angry and annoyed with everything, getting riled easily and being argumentive. For example, last week for no real reason I wanted to jab my work colleague sitting next to me with some chopsticks. This is very very unlike me. I hope these feelings won't dictate the baby's personality.

Tell me am I going a bit nutty here?

The following things send me absolutely mental at the moment:

DH - eating crisps loudly, coughing, clearing throat, sneezing, peeing loudly with door open. Trying to get frisky (poor man, so deprived at the mo!) GGGRRRRRRRRRRRR

He keeps telling me I am such an old bag. And I am!

piglit · 14/07/2004 18:02

Some bloke rushed past me and knocked into me whilst I was standing in a queue the other day. I said "Excuse me" in my most sarcastic tone and he apologised saying he was very late to meet his dw (and he did look very harrassed). Instead of just letting it go I said (well, shouted) "be sure to tell her you practically knocked over a pg woman in your rush to meet up with her".

Angeliz · 14/07/2004 20:26

OOH i am only 7 weeks but have had a few moments already.

Crap service at a cafe in town, i wrote to head office and all staff were 'spoken to' and i got voucher!!

Old (SOME old people-bot all) people in supermarket being downright bloody rude (i called a woman an old ba.t!!

Dp doing ANYTHING at the moment, can empathise with the crunching being annoying!!

beansprout · 14/07/2004 20:29

Lol Piglit - I will remember that one!

Twinkie · 17/07/2004 14:56

OOoohhhhh I must be going mad but at the moment Ihave this thing against the people who own the Car/Van/Crusty Hire place near Mottingham station - there is a 2 lane road downm to the station and they think it is there right to park opposite their yard and so block one lane of the road making it dangerous and very busy when turning in or out - it is consuming my life - I have phoned Greenwich Council every day to ask why someone has not gone down their and ticketed them as they are parked on double yellow lines and they said they have but there has never been any of their cars vans or crusty mobiles parked on the double yellow lines - well there is everyday when I drive down there no matter what time it is - AM I going mad, does anyone else get sooo cross about things that its all they can think abuot and do you think me videoing the cars, vans and trucks and crusty mobiles everyday with my watch and a copy of that days current paper is taking it too far!!!

boudicca · 17/07/2004 15:05

not going too far at all Twinkieyou go girl!I could come and pose with my chariot if you like

SoupDragon · 17/07/2004 15:05

LOL!

Take photos of them in obvious daylight and send them to the traffic warden, together with the time you took them. It could well be that they move them during the day so they're not there when the wardens come round.

Maybe they watch for you to go past and then move them once they're sure they've annoyed you

Twinkie · 17/07/2004 15:08

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - I leave work at midday sometimes and there is always at least a couple there - it is taking over my life -I actually feel myself getting all cross when I see one of these vans giong along the road now and god help them if they try and leave their piddly little yard whn I am queuing up to get out of the station - I would rather crash into them (good at that lately) than let them out - just going to ring the council again!!

SoupDragon · 17/07/2004 15:12

Clearly someone at your work tips them off when you leave!

Is this a pregnancy induced obsession or did it annoy you before? I get these too sometimes and I don't have the pregnancy excuse.

Twinkie · 17/07/2004 15:16

Well it annoyed me before but at the moent I am obsessibe about it - I would shoot Mr Bloody Car Rental in the Head if I could!!

scruff · 17/07/2004 18:31

yes Twinkie I was the same about my neighbours grass. Everytime I saw it I went into an angry rage so I know what you mean. Is this normal???

Twinkie · 17/07/2004 18:34

What was wrong with their grass?? - One side of us is Mr & Mrs No kids and tidiest house and garden intghe street with really annoys DP and one side is empty cause the lady died but I am now worried about squatters - her grass is really high!!

Think mayeb it is normal - I feel up one minute and then want to punch someone's lights out the next!!

nikcola · 17/07/2004 18:36

im not pg but im allways angry

Bibiboo · 17/07/2004 18:53

I hate my best friend's husband - does this count as an irrational anger or is it perfectly normal to hate a smug, patronising, condescening, controlling, jealous, preachy, childish, know-it-all?

I hate the way he talks to her, controls her and subtly makes her feel guilty for anything she does that she's had the guts to do for herself. Of course, she thinks I like him, even though I've never worked very hard at making her think that. I seem to bethe only person who HASN'T said how horrid he is, including her parents and family, so she's taking that to mean I love him.

Anyway, the whole point of this post was, we have been planning a weekend away at the end of August, me, her and two other old housemates from Uni, styaing in our old Uni halls for a bit of a get together and catch up. She's just announced that her and DH may have to travel up a day late if he's got a football game on the Friday - and I'm like ... "SINCE WHEN WAS HE INVITED?!?!?!?" but of course, not out loud. Any tips on how to handle this one?

Twinkie · 17/07/2004 18:55

Yeah - if you are preggers you get to shout - "ER SINCE WHEN WAS HE INVITED?"

beansprout · 17/07/2004 18:57

LOL Twinkie - I think it is worth a mention, esp given as this is your last fling together before the Boo arrives? What about "oh is X coming, I thought we were having a girly weekend? Are other dhs/dps coming too?". All said in a nice, innocent voice of course!

And then, if he does come, take up Twinkie's plan and just be plain bloody vile to him!!

scruff · 17/07/2004 19:27

well I say grass but it was really tall weeds. We had just gotten around to doing something nice with ours and these two girls were dropping rubbish as they got out of their cars onto the grass!

JanZ · 17/07/2004 19:27

Why ot give her a call back (that is, if she told you on the phone) and ask, in all innocence, "I was thinking about what you said about your dh having a game of football and I'm a wee bit confused. I thought this was just a girlies' weekend? What's your dh going to be doing or is he just giving you a lift?" That gets over why you didn't mention it when she raised it. You could add that you were looking forward to just having a natter and to be able to share some of the more embarrassing things about being pregnant".

Not sure if your friends have kids, but I wouldn't have though that your friend's h would want to "share" in that!

JanZ · 17/07/2004 19:28

That should read, "Why NOT give her a call back"

Toots · 17/07/2004 22:27

LOL Piglit! You go girl.

Bibiboo · 18/07/2004 12:15

The problem with it being a 'girls' weekend is that it isn't strictly all girls. There's another man going, who is gay (which her DH has a massive problem with but won't admit it), so that excuse doesn't really work. I'm going to try the innocent "oh I hadn't realised it was partners too" tack and see what she says. The thing is, even if he knows my DH isn't coming, he's so controlling and jealous it would be impossible for him to let her out of his sight for longer than a day anyway, so he'd do what he usually does. He'll come, he'll not talk to anyone, except to grunt a few words if he's asked a questoin directly, he'll put her down or belittle her in front of us (but in that v subtle way that he could easily pass off as a minunderstanding), and she'll make excuses for him saying he's shy, he's not a good mixer etc. I feel like screaming "FFS! He's nearly 30 years old! Tell him to get a grip!!!" I know full well he just can't be bothered because he doesn't like any of us - he looks down on us because I lived in sin and got pregnant out of wedlock, the gay man commits unholy acts, the other girl isn't a "good Christian" either. AARRGGHH!!!! HE makes me SO ANGRY!!!! is it possible for us pg ladies to turn into Hulk-ettes? I could do with a bit of green monster rage - meant to be green monster...

beansprout · 22/07/2004 08:21

Check tyre pressures this morning but machine not working and end up with flat tyre instead. Man #1 does not respond to my explanation but of course, goes over to my car to try and demonstrate that I am stupid rather than his machine is broken. I am left with flat tyre and not even a "sorry" so I ask for the manager who does the same.... cut to the chase i.e. me, 7 months preg, standing on the forecourt yelling "NO, YOU ARE NOT SORRY, YOU ARE VERY IGNORANT AND NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE MOST STUPID BUNCH OF MEN EVER ASSEMBLED IN NORTH WEST LONDON".

Ahem
