Welcome ladies, new and old. Grin May we all have dull and boring pregnancies. Pull up a chair, crack open a bottle of (non-alcoholic) wine and settle in for mutual handholding, fishslapping and neurosis.

Hi saggy, so sorry this isn't the news that you were initially wanting, but sending you every continued congratulations on the impending awesomeness that will be your baby :-)

There are some utterly amazing zombie threads that three mumsnetters in particular contributed to a few years back about having children with different special needs that I thought were completely fab. They were written in response to people posting 'should I test' threads. They may be of use to you, if you're in the mood for a bit of a read.

Sorry your mum gave you such an unhelpful response, and I hope she can give you continued support in a way that feels more useful to you. It might take a few weeks for you to work out what you'd even want from people right now.

Roll on the next year's arrival of awesome baby Saggy. ((((hugs)))))) x

shellsocks · 24/09/2013 22:01

Hi everyone

Hope you and your DP have had a quiet day saggy to try and digest the news. Hope you have not had to work or had anything else goin on. There have been some lovely posts, quite emotional to read I bet, hope you are getting support in RL x

Those of you who are a getting close to d-day how are you getting on with names? Im convinced we are having a boy but can't find a name I love...I am not brave enough to post in baby names so will ask you guys for honest opinions on my short list...Aaron, Jake, Max, Noah and Stanley. I'm leaning towards Stanley but imagining other peoples reactions is putting me off iyswim, but I think it's lovely for a baby/child and Stan for teenager is so cool! DS is Harrison if that helps you comment...thanks Smile

Tomkat79 · 24/09/2013 22:10

Hi shell

I really like Stanley. My DS has a friend called this and he's a right cutie. I also like Noah.

Not too keen on the others but more through association! Baby Jake on cbeebies well freaks me out and I know a boy called max with a huge head and attitude to max lol

I think boys names are really hard. Totally biased but I like Jack. Suits any little boy or big man. I spent 9 months convinced DS was a DD so hadn't planned any boys names. We were watching 24 at the time and he got named after Jack Bauer. Maybe wait and see what he looks like...bet you have a girl lol x

kjh5 · 24/09/2013 22:12

Shell your names are all great! And you should go with what you want. A friend of mine didn't tell anyone what she was going to name her baby boy before he was born, the name was a little unusual and I think people would have reacted badly to it but when he was born it just fit so well. If you have a feeling about a certain name then you should go for it - doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

Ummm question of my own. I seem to have gone from having sore boobs to having ridiculously itchy nipples. Anyone else suffer from this and if so what did you do about it? Cream isn't cutting the mustard... it is driving me insane. Help!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 24/09/2013 22:17

Oh she'll I really like all your names Smile I was just staying yesterday that Stanley was a great name, wee Stan! Max is cool too, my cousin has a baby max and he's cute to the max!!

I'm also convinced I'm having a boy,
think I've convinced dh to go with my fave boys name Leo if it's a boy. I really like Erin or Cara for a girl but that might take a bit of arm twisting, he likes Mia but I know quite a few already so it wouldn't be 'our' name iykwim!!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 24/09/2013 22:20

Kjh hmm I haven't suffered from itchy nips, are they maybe getting a bit bigger and so causing the itch?

A wee question from me. I don't think dh remembers that my Erpc anniversary is next week. I want to mark the occasion but not sure if he would. Should I just do something by myself or should I mention it to him?

Bodicea · 24/09/2013 22:28

Janie it can't hurt to mention it. But remember most men don't think about those little details much. They move on and forward. I have to admit I am kind if the same (I have a bit of a male attitude to certain things). I actually can't remember either of my due dates or my ercp date. Have eased them from my mind.
Ps Leo is lovely. I that was my second choice name After James x

Bodicea · 24/09/2013 22:32

Kjh - I get horrendous itch boobs and nipple inc bleeding. I am actually really worried about breast feeding. I have to admit I have been using a steroid cream - I do get excema anyway and not sure if itchiness due to that or pregnancy or both. Also tried a calendula ointment. Not sure if either is really recommended in pregnancy - the stuff on google is contradictory. But figure at this stage can't really do much harm. Not sure about these la Lin creams for nipples. Have always been of the opinion that lanolin is bad nasty stuff, because of the large molecules.

Pentagon · 24/09/2013 22:34

PFJ and birds how did your scans go today? Well I hope!

I had to the doctor's this morning because I've been peeing very frequently lately and have also been feeling a bit uncomfortable and itchy down there...well, the verdict was UTI and thrush...wonderful! I saw the midwife on Friday and everything was fine, I can't believe I'm all infected 4 days later. On antibiotics now and armed with cream and pessaries.

shell & janie cool names! shell I like Jake, Max and Stanley the best!

Tomkat79 · 24/09/2013 22:36

kjh try slapping on some sudocrem, works on most things and safe!

Pentagon · 24/09/2013 22:43

kjh I've had itchy nipples as well - whenever it happens I apply the stretchmarks oil I use on my bump

omri · 24/09/2013 23:00

Love the name Stanley!!

Don't have itchy boobs and have never had the sore boobs pregnancy symptom in this or any other pregnancy. Only learned about that symptom on mn! Me I just throw up all day long! 15 wks and still pukingHmm

So I succumbed to temptation and booked myself a private scan on thurs morn at 8am. I really have to tell my boss as am starting to show. Will need to get into mat clothes and don't want to buy any/tell boss as if it'll jinx it. So having the scan to give me that extra oomph of confidence.

IBelieveInPink · 24/09/2013 23:06

Shell- love the names. Especially max and Noah. Max was on our list before we knew baby pink was pink!!

Janie - my DH is so keen on the name Mya- but I know lots of Mia/Mya already, I understand how you mean.

We only have 2 names that we agree on. Hoping she looks like one of them! Imogen and Natasha. Wish we had a few more to choose from though.

BumpKitty · 25/09/2013 00:20

Ooh name talk :)
shell I think Stanley is ace, max is very popular so depends if you mind that or not. I think Stanley goes best with Harrison as they are the same level of unusualness :)
I'm leaning towards Matilda with Tilly as the NN, I know it's getting really popular but I keep coming back to it and I think it goes nicely with Isabel (DD1).
ibip Imogen is lovely, would you shorten it?
kjh I seem to remember an itchy nips stage, I think they were quite dry, helpfully I can't remember what I did about them Grin
janie would you feel ok doing something by yourself? If not you should tell DH, I'm a bit like bod and don't want to mark any of my dates but we are all different and you should do something if you want to xx

BlackholesAndRevelations · 25/09/2013 07:54

Janie- my dp didn't remember at all but dont think it was important to him really. He acknowledged it when I mentioned it but luckily being pregnant again, that was the main focus.

Names- we can't agree as he says no to every name I mention- HOWEVER he said yesterday something about tempting fate talking about names, and our other two dc weren't named until the day after they were born so maybe he is more superstitious than I thought!

I love Imogen and Stanley- have also taught a really cool Stanley Smile I totally agree with keeping names secret until after the big event as no one can say they don't like a name when it's already been given to a gorgeous squishy little bundle! Grin

Hope you're ok today saggy xx

Rockchick1984 · 25/09/2013 08:17

Hi all! Saggy I hope you're ok today Thanks

Had the private scan yesterday - all looks fine, and we are having a girl!! Very excited, DS has been convinced he's getting a baby sister so its lovely that he's right :)

Janie I'd mention it to him if you want to do something to mark the day. My DH has paid for me and my mum to have a girlie day (afternoon tea etc) on what should have been my due date, he will look after DS. Personally don't want to mark the date of ERPC but its so personal, no one should presume you do or don't want to commemorate it.

BirdsDoIt · 25/09/2013 08:52

saggy I hope you and your DP are doing ok.

Very exciting to hear all this talk of baby names.
I actually really like all the ones that have been mentioned! It's going to be impossible to choose though. Completely agree with blackholes that it's best to discuss only with your DP unless you want the opinions of the world and his wife, which then may put you off a name you'd have loved (my mum is not known for her ability to keep her opinion quiet although she would always follow it with, but of course it's your choice...Smile) Discussing it on here definitely doesn't count though!

So we went for 12 week scan yesterday and amazingly, unbelievably, all looks good!! I woke up with terrible feeling of doom and started off the day by crying all over DH, pulled myself together but was pretty convinced the scan wouldn't find a heartbeat. And when she started scanning she couldn't find it initially because it was low down in my pelvis. But then she did and we saw heartbeat and feet and hands and it even did some bouncing around for us! Couldn't believe it. And I still can't really, even though I'm starting to think about 'when' not 'if' a little bit more. Weirdly our due date is 5 April which is the anniversary of my erpc - so a sad date has now, hopefully, been replaced by a happy one.

rock so glad your scan went well too and your DS is getting the baby sister he wanted! Smile

GardenWorm · 25/09/2013 09:08

Shell I'm feeling your naming pain! We are struggling to come up with anything, especially boy's. I agree with kjh on not telling people until after they are born if its unusual then they tend to be less opinionated! Think it depends where you live too; Stanley for me is a 'Souf Landon'/Welling/Charlton fan name, which probably means nothing to most of you!!! We (mainly me) keep vetoing because of DH's surname....I love Wolfie but he says no (in case he's hairy! Ha ha), DD was going to be Oakes if she was a boy but I don't feel we can use that name as it was hers... Also like Woody and Damson (but cant use as her initials would be DD and if shes anything like me hooters will not be in abundance!) See I'm one of those people who pick wierd names!!! I think go with what you really like and sod everyone else Grin

Fab fab news Rock, team pink rules Smile (please let me have another pink one Wink

GardenWorm · 25/09/2013 09:09

Sorry Birds I missed you post whilst doing mine. Congrats!!!!!! Awesome news to start the thread day Grin

Pentagon · 25/09/2013 09:12

rock congtratulations on the good scan as well as having one for team pink! Your DS must be so excited he got it right!

omri good luck with your scan tomorrow - I'm sure everything will be fine. Will you find out the flavour?

PJF and bird I hope it went well yesterday - let us know how you got on.

Pentagon · 25/09/2013 09:16

I also missed your post birds - yay, wonderful news! Congratulations!

Bodicea · 25/09/2013 09:26

Ok so have a confession to make. Went to see a cat breeder last night. She happened to have our cat ( who has recently passed away) younger sister who had the same face and mannerisms as our cat. and she had just been mated!!! We I know it is prob not sensible but we took it as a little sign!! Litter ( if she is pregnant - it's not definite yet!) is due two week before bambino is due on November! But we wouldn't get kitten till end of jan. anyway deposit down, deed is done. V excited (also prob v stupid but hey ho)

WhatWillSantaBring · 25/09/2013 09:31

Excellent news birds and rock. PFJ - hope everything went OK for you too.

I really struggle with boys' names - I have a stack of girls names i like including Imogen, and I really like Matilda bump and agree it goes well with Isabel. Mattie or Tilly are great NNs and I am a big fan of names that you can do things with, depending on the context.

Boys names - there are a few diminutives I like (Harry, Freddie, Jack, Jonny) but I am less keen on the full versions of each of those (Henry, Frederick/Alfred/Wilfred, Jonathon). Plus all the names I like seem to be resolutely in the top ten. Actually of all those names, I like Wilfred the best, but DH vetoed it but his family all like naff names

Officially now in the third trimester. And EDD #2 is on Friday, and I am much less bothered about it than EDD#1 (though to be fair, I was in having another EPRC about a week before EDD#1). The one thing I find hard is that I don't feel like lost a baby in either MC - because there was an empty sac both times. So mourning for it seems silly because all I lost was expectation. I don't know if that makes it easier for me or harder.

shell Love the name Stanley
BirdsCongrats on your scan news
Rock Congrats on your scan A girl you must be so excited
Ormi Good luck with your scan tomorrow
Pentagon I hope you are feeling a bit better thrush sucks
saggy Hope you are okay? Being thinking about you a lot

GardenWorm · 25/09/2013 09:55

Awe Bod that's cute. You'll be an old hand at mummydom by the end of Jan (and hankering after another baby!) sounds like good timing, plus a kitten in some ways must be easier than an adult that has not been around babies. Do you now have another name to pick???!!!
