Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

hello all.
hope all the newbies are starting to feel the benefit of some ondansatron!
mega puke yesterday lunch. oh it was awful!!
was at hospital today to discuss an elcs. they were happy to agree so that's all sorted for 40 weeks on the dot. funnily enough they did the normal urine samples etc and i was 3+ for ketones!!!
crazy at 21 weeks!!
back to hospital again tomorrow to see a specialist re baby kidneys. 3 times i have been at hospital this week. pants

ChocChaffinch · 02/10/2013 20:41

I can't drink fizzy water, have really cold still water and now can have a hot cup tea for brekkie and in the afternoon, such a treat.
I had a craze at week 8 for pink ucozade, couldn't bear it now, but am thinking a lot about Lilt.. shame it's impossible to find now, is it discontinued?
had a complete craving for Tropicana with my other pgs, this time the thought completely disgusts me. Too acidic.

it's boring drinking water, and like others it makes me feel totally sick.
I find it kind of activates the HG feeling; the weird pixelated grey dust feeling in my trachea, water seems to give it power.

I do like tinned fruit- tinned pineapple rings and Im ok slurping that juice up, it's watery-er than normal juice somehow. Had a tin of that fruit cocktail today, def preferring tinned pineapple. will try peaches and pears next :-) it's all fibre innit?

ChocChaffinch · 02/10/2013 20:42

ffek theyre doing your elcs at 40 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! that's unusual no ? usually wk 39?

ChocChaffinch · 02/10/2013 20:46

oh Feek BTW I asked my scanner friend about kidney stuff in general and she said v v common and not to worry about. duplex (?) kidneys are a normal variation, no problem at all

Totesamazeballs · 02/10/2013 20:55

I had a tropicana craze when I was pregnant with DS! This time it's oranges as juice is too acidic. I keep getting that stale smell when I walk into rooms that makes my stomach turn too.

feekerry · 02/10/2013 20:55

that's really helpful choc thanks. feel much more chilled about it now as it does seem v common and just a variation of the norm like you say!

ye c section will be done at 40 weeks. i think its because deep down they hope you will go into natural labour so they don't have to pay for a section!!!! had dd at 42 + 2 so 40 weeks seems early to me lol!

ChocChaffinch · 02/10/2013 21:19

they let you go 16 days over! they only let me go +11 with dd
my cheapo normal birth with dd majorly backfired for them when I needed 2 ops afterwards. cheaper to csection me fo'sho'

jenpatnim · 02/10/2013 21:27

fee, you can just ASK for a section? I thought you had to, like, need one?

ChocChaffinch · 02/10/2013 21:43

think you need a valid medical reason

ie... previous fecked-up birth - like me
breech
v big baby v small mama
other health stuffs

jenpatnim · 02/10/2013 22:08

ah ok. I have no preference - they both have their pros and cons.

IneedAsockamnesty · 02/10/2013 22:53

I found out today I'm being induce in just over 3 weeks so will be 36 weeks bang on I had been expecting it at 38 weeks but my consultant changed it.

Oh and its guarenteed so no faffing about.

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 09:04

how do you feel about that sock ? are you ready!

MurderOfBanshees · 03/10/2013 09:05

That must be a huge relief sock

Meerka · 03/10/2013 09:37

oh gosh sock must be nice to know for sure - and the end is in sight!

feekerry · 03/10/2013 11:10

well i had a failed induction at 14 days over then it kinda dragged on so was +16 when dd was delivered by crash section.
Jen you do need a valid medical reason. as i had a prev emcs you do get the choice next time round. they gave me my odds of a successful vbac at 60% so i opted for the elecs. also if i went for a vbac it would be a monitored hospital birth and i can't be bothered with that.
choc are you going for elecs this time??
sock you must be pleased with that?? are you ready? how far are you now?

misspope24 · 03/10/2013 11:12

God I feel like death!!!!!!!

Anyone else feel more sick on lactulose?!

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 11:47

lactulose takes getting used to! I took with water, then ate something sweet to lose the taste.

yes I will elcs this time, consultant happy with that. wk 39 apparently,

have vommed last 2 days before lunch, that's a new habit... bloody 14 weeks now, would be nice to have less vomming, not more. Hate HG.
Think I need to commit more to just constantly grazing.. but food is too expensive! all the ham has gone already, am limited as to what I actually like to nibble on.

can we share nibbling ideas?
nectarines work for me, any and all kinds of cake and chocolate,
cannot do crisps, bananas, have to be wary with apples

eggybrokenoff · 03/10/2013 11:49

i remember being sick on lactulose last time - grim stuff. first day of tablet for me and i feel so much better. i am sure i was worse at this stage with the previous dcs - which makes me worry for the pregnancy tbh.
so exciting that some are nearing the end and will habe an actual baby in just a few weeks!

eggybrokenoff · 03/10/2013 11:50

i find biscuits good for nibbling - oatcakes, digestives, shortbread that kind of thing. and not sharp crisps of strong flavoured ones but things like hula hoops

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 11:55

anyone else cough heavy phlegm after vomming.

TMI apols guys.

have I got a neverending cold, or is it just part of vomming?

Meerka · 03/10/2013 11:56

tinned peaches. (tmi coming: they don't taste too awful if they do come back up)

cuppasoups. living off them atm.

poached egg.

now and then, beans but can't manage the toast, grumble

did eat a lot of watermelon, watery and takes the vile taste away, but htey are out of season now grumble

Meerka · 03/10/2013 11:57

and yes, chocchaffinch, me too. ugh ugh ugh. I think it's part of the joyand dignity of HG

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 11:58

I miss beans. They are far too dang tomatoey

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 12:00

oh meerka. Ive got 26 weeks left of this

eggybrokenoff · 03/10/2013 12:08

isnt it weird how it affects diff people differently. i cant face anything hot - the thought of a cup a soup makes me feel sicker, no way could i eat beans, but i can nibble toast with marmite
