Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

Dad never sees me when I'm bad, only on the days good enough to cope with the journey etc. So he has a very biased view. Unlike MIL who has come here on my bad days to help out with the flat/toddler. Dad has only been here twice since DS was born, neither time since this pregnancy started.

Meerka · 21/09/2013 09:03

sighs yeah that is gonna give the wrong impression if he isn't involved at all :s Just a thought, a note to your cousin might help, explaining and mentioning how often you've been in hospital and the meds you're on?? No one can really argue with that, unless they have an axe to grind. Dunno, just a thought

MurderOfGoths · 21/09/2013 09:11

I emailed my cousin last night, she sent me a lovely message the last time I was in hospital, so I'm sure she'll understand. Suspect dad is sulking as he hasn't even phoned to see how I'm feeling.

Meerka · 21/09/2013 10:07

Glad that your cousin understands anyway even if your father doesn't. Family dynamics eh? :s

Totesamazeballs · 21/09/2013 13:07

Hi all,

Glad your cousin understands MoG? Miserable for you though to miss out. i have lots of things booked for October and i can see me having to cancel.

I am feeling a bit better today because the taste isn't so severe and I slept well. dS woke briefly at his usual time but after lying him back down he went off to sleep. yay!! Craving chicken and general protein and feeling super tired. On countdown to 12 week scan next Weds. I keep feeling like I ought to start getting better soon but it's showing no signs of doing so. As long as it doesn't get worse!

Meerka · 21/09/2013 14:04

aw good to hear you're feeling faintly better :)

Im afraid that HG often lasts beyond week 12 ... sorry !!!! Most people improve by week 21 tho, and often before.

Totesamazeballs · 21/09/2013 17:28

I am convinced it won't last as long as last time. I don't even think I have HG anymore just all day sickness/ nausea. The fact that I can cope sans drugs makes me feel like a fraud for being on here. It deffo started like last time but hasn't lasted. Last time i was ill well into the second trimester.

flipping well hope that statement doesn't come back to bite me on the behind!

LucindaE · 21/09/2013 18:40

Totes This is good news!
Meerka I hope the cramps have gone?
MOGSympathies about father not getting the full picture, I am glad the cousin understands.
Jen Perhaps it was too early.
Peanuts Any improvement?
Sally I hope coping without OH.
Choc Great tip about mouthwash, I didn't know it cut down that awful saliva!
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

not cramping myself, Lucinda, just endless nausea and retching. So tired of it already and its only week 8.

silver lining, husband is being an absolute grade A star.

Totesamazeballs · 21/09/2013 20:27

Busy day means I feel rough now. When I say busy, I mean I went out to a shop. Big wow! Enough to floor me!

Sally8655 · 21/09/2013 21:05

Evening ladies

What a busy day, paying for it now :-( feel pretty nauseas.
However I have managed to eat a bit and not been sick yet. Both sisters came to help me out with lots of jobs needing done.
Had a nice soak in the bath and even blow dried my hair. Just climbed into fresh bed sheets thanks to lil sis. :-)
Hubby has rang to say he finally got to sydney ok which has put my mind a rest a bit and the three week countdown till he's home begins.

Thank you again for all your kind words and support. You ladies are great xxx

MurderOfGoths · 21/09/2013 22:05

sally Sounds like you have lovely sisters :)

totes Oh god a shop is hard work! It's knackering beyond belif

Totesamazeballs · 22/09/2013 10:17

Glad you are getting help Sally. Take all you can get!

I had vomming sesh last night. I think I overdid it yesterday. Grrr...

If this goes on much longer I might have to go to the GP and ask for a new med. I just can't look after a toddler in this state.

jenpatnim · 22/09/2013 12:16

Sally, glad people are helping out. You'll be ok!

Totes, what are you on again?

I have that killer headache back again - I had the ice pack on my head last night and it is still there today. Plus my belly is aching, it is that muscle stretchy pain and it hurts when I bend over or move too quickly.

Still haven't felt movement, at 19 weeks now. I don't know what I am supposed to be feeling though.

Champagne I think I probably am not drinking enough but it is so hard with the nausea! Even though I am better than I was, I still don't want to drink a lot of the time and will find that some time has passed since my last drink.

It's a pain.

Totesamazeballs · 22/09/2013 14:30

Jen, the movements feel like bubbles popping or fluttering a at the start. It's quite subtle and could be mistaken for wind!

LucindaE · 22/09/2013 16:28

Sally Good news. I agree with others, those sound nice sisters.
Jen and Champagne Do you find sips of flat full sugar coke bearable? Lollies or ice cubes of flat coke or jelly as water can be foul tasting.
I feel for you over those headaches, they are so horrible. Champagne That sounds like it! Smile
Meerka Unproductive retching is awful - hugs. This is one of the hardest things you will ever do, for sure.
TotesCongratulations on shopping. I hope there weren't strong food smells or is that becoming more bearable?
I hope MOG Peanuts and Everyone is coping. A return to hot weather, too, well naturally, as people have put away their summer clothes.
Lucinda

Champagne, last night I felt so rough I leant over the toilet and out it all came! I was able to go to sleep afterwards so I consider that mission accomplished!

ChocChaffinch · 22/09/2013 18:11

god I put my back out yesterday at work it was beyond agonising, I went all hot and my eyes went grey and swimmy. Thought I was going to faint. Came home and rested and after a still night sleep today was ok, it's better to keep gently moving with a bad back. very very cautious about what I'm doing now, I didn't lift anything, I just bent over.
