I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

Hi all

Choc, when my back went, I hadn't been lifting anything either. It just suddenly clicked and started hurting. The pain only got bearable with codeine.

Totes, Jen and champs, sorry you are struggling. Thinking of you.

MOG and fee how are you both getting on?

I had a good morning, obviously overdone things as now I'm in bed. I'm not as bad as I have been but tge nausea is there.
I have to say water is not too bad either right now. It's not making me any worse to drink it. It is annoying having to pee constantly though.
I have the horrid taste again and nothing seems to help. I've had sweets, mints, gum, pop and none gave been any good.
We have finally decided on naming baby Jayden, I think!
Family have been buying baby outfits and I'm getting a bit more excited :-)
Also so pleased with my latest buy. Aldi have got cellular blankets and soft bubble blankets in for £2!! They are really good quality too. They seem to have loads of baby things in at the moment at really good prices. Obviously I bought 10 :-)
So all seems to be well for now, I'm going to watch downtown and have an early night as ive got such a busy week ahead.

Hugs to you all xxxx

Poor you champs, I get that alot too, thinking of roast potatoes now :-) just by them self with a little mint sauce mmm!

MurderOfGoths · 22/09/2013 22:53

Not great, feeling more and more like I might actually be sick. Quite concerned that the drugs are having less effect. :(

jenpatnim · 23/09/2013 08:07

Random vomit this morning while making cup of tea - most unexpected and horrible, and now have to go teach while feeling wretched. Joy.

Meerka · 23/09/2013 08:31

ouch, gl Jen :(

Hope you're okay after the weekend MoG, the stress can't have helped one little bit. I hope your DS is gentle on ya today

MurderOfGoths · 23/09/2013 09:51

DH has taken DS out for the day to visit his mum, so hopefully DS'll wear himself out and I get a chance to relax.

LucindaE · 23/09/2013 15:42

Sally and Jen RE: backs, if you possibly can indulge in the luxury of a visit to an Osteopath, do give it a go, it's usually miraculous, but horribly expensive. It's absurd, they should be on the NHS,but the waiting lists probably would mean you wouldn't be seen for a year.
Sparkling water sounds like a good idea.
Totes well, good, after a fashion, did you manage that without retching, that is impresive! Shock
Champagne and Meerka That is horrible [green].
MOG Congratulations on having survived car journey.
Peanuts Tallyra and Everyone I hope somehow getting by?
Apologies to anyone rudely ignored.

Champagne Just thinking - the abnormal craving for sugar and salt and unhealthy foods most people have might have something to do with starvation? I think it takes some time to rot the teeth with the sugary drinks, though - I think if you rinse them it's not so bad. I may be wrong though, no dental expert.

on the subject of being hungry - well thirsty - Im barely weeing atm. I am managing to keep some liquids down, specialy in the morning, less so as the day goes on, but im spitting so much that I only wee twice a day, small amounts. is this something to worry about ? I dont think im in danger of ketonosis from the point of view of the amount of liquid I consume, otherwise. Lost 3 kilos in 3 weeks but that´s not much and within the ´not to worry´zone I reckon. Just a bit concerned about barely weeing

jenpatnim · 23/09/2013 17:47

Meerka, you are probably fairly dehydrated. The only thing you can do is try your best to drink.

I have some sparkling water now and it is good. I have a soda stream so I just carbonate my own tap water.

Also had a gorgeous drink on saturday in M&S cafe - orange juice mixed with sparkling water! It was everything you want fanta to be without the sugar hit, and incredibly refreshing. I could drink it by the gallon and may DIY it if I buy some Tropicana.

Today was rough in work and I still feel pretty rough. Trying to stay awake until bedtime but might not make it.....

Sally8655 · 23/09/2013 18:52

Jen, don't know how your managing to work with this. You are amazing!

Meerka, I had that issue on and off. Currently every sip I have, I need to pee. My midwife told me to have a little sugar with each drink. Don't think it made much difference.

MOG- I really feel for you x

I have not stopped today. First a friend who just had her little boy came round to see me. It was lovely to see her but can't believe how much conversation tired me out.
Then me and sis had to dismantle 2 beds and a bookcase, then move them downstairs ready for moving into a van in the morning. Had a bath and now collapsed on my mattress on the floor! No bed delivery till next week so yes I'm sleeping on the floor. Dh would kill me if he knew. But if he was here it would never get done!
So I'm now stuck on the floor, unable to get up without great difficulty. Not easy for a quick dash to pee.

Managed to eat cheese on a toasted bun for lunch and banana sandwich for dinner. It has stayed put so far.
Feel so tired, sick and dizzy now so I know I've pushed myself to much. Wishing this week was over as I've got another few days of this :-(

jenpatnim · 23/09/2013 19:19

Sally, today was a real struggle. I seriously thought about phoning in sick this morning but I made it through. I have such a headache tonight though. OH is at our friends' house and I have to pick him up at about 9.30 so I am killing time until then.

I don't know how you are managing on your end! I am comimg home from work and I am pretty much useless.

ChocChaffinch · 23/09/2013 20:12

ugh Im full time this week and with hyperem, a nasty cold and now my awful back I feel very fed up.

Sally8655 · 23/09/2013 20:24

Oh no choc, full time too! Can't you call in sick or get doctor to give you a note for reduced hours?

There is no way I could have faced work and i was only 4 days a week, split up, once I reduced my hours.
It's a good job today was my last day of employment. Get my redundancy pay next week.
Although I was off sick and doctors were happy to just sign off due to my M/E it was still always in the back if my mind. No more sick notes needed now. People keep asking what I'm going to do next. I keep saying, that's me done! I'm quite happy to be a housewife as long as i can. Just want to feel well again so i can enjoy it :-)

Sally8655 · 23/09/2013 20:32

Lucinda, my backs not as bad with the pain killers. Now and then the sciatica returns but not for too long. My hips and pelvis are bad though and lying in my side is painful. Apparently there is not much I can do but get on with it.
Belly is rather sore now, with lots of niggly pains. Definitely been doing to much as it feels like I've tore muscle.

Totesamazeballs · 23/09/2013 21:52

Hi guys, just checking in. Choc and Jen - you are both very brave for getting on with work but please don't make yourselves worse...easy for me to say I know. There comes a certain point where you have to go back in. I remember that well!

I was four days a week too Sally before DS - but now a SAHM and wouldn't swap it for the world. It is a bit scary being on one salary!

I am feeling more wiped out these last few days with headaches. I am wondering if its due to the fact that my body is now producing progesterone through the placenta and I am also on cyclogest which is majorly topping it up. Could be talking out of my hat...just a theory. Sickness is the same. Still there and unrelenting. Still worse at night and I effing hate taking my prenatal vits!

Got my 12 week scan on weds so major milestone. Hoping baby is ok.

MurderOfGoths · 23/09/2013 22:12

sally The torn muscle feeling could just be growing pains where your womb is stretching.

I am now so constipated I'm contemplating going to the hospital and asking for an epidural and forceps..

jenpatnim · 23/09/2013 22:59

Totes I am having the headaches too - really intense ones. I find the ice pack and darkened room trick is being used regularly.

Work hasn't been too bad - although it is very very busy. I am coping so I just carry on, not much else I can do. I could get a sick note and stay at home but I would feel so guilty about missing my classes and my exam kids being stuck with a random sub. Although if I feel sick and headachy tomorrow I might just stay at home.

Totesamazeballs · 24/09/2013 08:16

Ooh MOG sounds horrible! Are you lactulose and fibrogelling? Could it be making you feel more sick?

I had night vomiting last night. Not fun. Feel wrecked and got to pack, go to toddler group and then face two hour car journey. Eek!

LucindaE · 24/09/2013 08:49

Meerka I am worried you are dehydrated too - I don't know what the equivalent of kesostix are where you are, is there any peeing stick you can use to test for dehydration?
I think people are too hard on themselves with this about eating and drinking healthy stuff, even with ordinary MS that has to go on hold for a while. The main thing is fluids and eating something if possible, bossy mother hen says clucking. It's worrying because of all the talk about how you must eat healthily in pregnancy, but any number of women on these threads have produced big, healthy babies after a purely terrible diet of such things as coke and ice cream and chips for months! Still, Jen I am so glad you have found a fanta alternative!
Sorry about those awful headaches, those suffering. I could never tell the difference between the migraines and the dehydration headaches as you puke with both!
Jen Mother hen says you are too conscientious about work, too (I am obviously idle at heart) it's really good you are so committed to y our pupils, but it's the head's responsibility to handle the problem!
Do take at least some time off if you feel really ill.
Choc Is there any possibility of time off? I think you gave your job title in initials, but not sure what that is - very ignorant about the world of work these days.
Totes Oh no about car journey! And as above about headaches, really awful.
MOG I think it is time for - well, no TMI on here so I'll be graphic - Feekerrys plastic gloves and manual evacuation procedure, if the jelly suppositories didn't work either? I know that Kalidasa who was on here a few threads ago had to get a bowel rinsing out apparatus online, which was effective...but you don't want to wait for it to arrive!
Sally Oh dear about all that furniture dismantling and removal stuff. I'm not surprised OH would be shocked. And sleeping on the floor?! But I have heard that it is good for the back, that is one thing, when my mother had sciatica she used to use a door under the mattress.
Tallyra and Peanuts and LittleMachine and Everyone I hope coping, somehow.
Lucinda

Haven't fried fibrogel, seeing doctor today though so shall ask about it.

Yikes totes 2 hour? You're braver than me.

On slightly unrelated news I've been sent a medical form for the doctor to fill out, going to try and get us moved somewhere ground floor so that my back isn't under so much strain. It'll be nice not to be trapped on bad days anymore, so fingers crossed!

Meerka · 24/09/2013 15:58

Thanks for the reminder about ketostix, I found them (ordered from amazon a few weeks ago) and I'm in the clear

jenpatnim · 24/09/2013 19:21

Well I did go to work today and I was ok, felt a bit sick towards the end of the day and had a nice nap when I got home. Also have found the bowels moving a bit better, which is a relief.

MOG that's a good thing, I hope it works out. Meerka, feel better.

I have been drinking the fizzy water which is great, it is really helping me to get the water in. Whatever works, guys!

Totesamazeballs · 24/09/2013 19:32

Good tip on the fizzy water. Going to try that. Hoping for in eventful night vomming wise!
