Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

No very good lucinda. still waiting for the ondansetron and upchucking every 3/4 hour in the afternoon / evening. ketones are ok tho. But the nausea is unrelenting, endless and inescapable. Husband being amazing, hospital sympathetic but unhelpful. Offered me psychological support which is kind but no use - it's effective meds that are needed, not talking. Besides, its damn difficult to travel to the hospital and talking for long makes me upchuck

Totesamazeballs · 16/09/2013 16:46

Sorry to hear that Meerka. How many weeks are you now? Any idea when you will get the ondansetron?

Meerka · 16/09/2013 16:53

7 weeks 6 days now .... some ondansetron is in the post but it\s taking forever to get here. Im starting to be afraid that customs opened the bag and confiscated it or something :(

feekerry · 16/09/2013 18:48

sally amazing news!! congratulations.
i so thought you were having a girl!! everything else okay on the scan?x

champagne won't be long till yours will it? are you finding out?

totes i still have no problems keeping down a glass of wine either!!

Totesamazeballs · 16/09/2013 19:23

Meerka - I ordered some tablets from America once and they took a while to come through customs so i was beginning to think the same thing but they did arrive. I think they can just be a bit slow!

MOG - do you have a DS or DD? I just wonder if there is something about boys and HG? Didn't it say about testosterone in that article you posted the other day or maybe it was one I read about separately? I know there is one theory about oestrogen, baby girls and morning sickness but morning sickness is a whole different thing to HG. Perhaps there is a boys link? I know boys start producing testosterone in the first trimester. Just a thought.

God I am looking forward to some nausea free time and being able to drink tea. I think coffee might be off the agenda for life.

Also, whenever I think of my bedroom it makes me feel more sick. I think I am going to have to redecorate!

Jen - it might be a short setback. A little surge of hormones that will pass. Hold that thought as much as you can.

MurderOfGoths · 16/09/2013 19:25

I've got a DS, there do seem to be a few HG boys don't there?

feekerry · 16/09/2013 19:43

i am pg with a boy this time. had a dd last time. can honestly say zero difference in the hg despite different genders. have been just as sick both times. and i still got 20 weeks to go!!

ChocChaffinch · 16/09/2013 20:43

my 1st pg, bad ms = girl
2nd pg, HG = boy
3rd pg, HG = ???????????? boy?

IneedAsockamnesty · 16/09/2013 21:06

Zero difference for me with girls and boys.

wavesandsmiles · 16/09/2013 21:25

I'm simply sending all the anti sickness vibes I can to you all. I'm definitely not having any more babies... In terms of the boy/girl chat, DS1 bad ms, DD HG, DS 2 (who slept for 10 hours straight last night aged 7 weeks) severe HG.

Soc have the hospital considered using a PICC line? I had one in for the last 3 and a bit months due to collapsed veins that wouldn't take cannulas anymore.

I'm having a happy day, I was made redundant whilst pregnant and have had 2 really amazing job offers end of last week and today. Such a relief! And so delighted to have got through numerous interviews despite caring for a newborn. Life after HG is wonderful for me. I appreciate my energy levels and am managing to kind of be alive again.

It really does get better. But I am very tempted to print off my posts on these threads to remind me why I will never ever have another baby.

aww waves, so nice to read :) congrats on two job offers! and on being alive again :) its nice to remember there -is- life on the other side, when you are simply concentrating on the next few hours, then the next, then the next

Good luck with the scan, Champers :)

last preg (heavy HG) was a son.

LucindaE · 17/09/2013 10:31

Waves Lovely news about job offers! I remember you were, like Sally made redundant in the thick of Hyperemesis, a real nadir in luck. What an amazing baby - mine was awake 18 hours out of 24!
Champagne Best of luck for scan, Meerka really sorry about delay in Ondansetron arriving - Peanuts This is good news - Everyone I hope not too bad today. While I so agree that Hyperemesis and ordinary MS are different, there is often a grey area where one slips into the other - some crossover point where controllable merges into uncontrollable. There must be some link. This is intriguing, and as Kalidasa says, the very bad end of MS, feeling sick and sometimes vomiting throughout, is nasty enough, but can make women who've had it unsympathetic to someone who can't get out of bed, imagining it's no worse.

Got my dating scan tomorrow, I'm hoping that as I had a scan when in hospital last the dates wont change. Think I'll go mad if they tell me I'm not as far along as thought. Got to be there for 9am too, so I've got to travel in rush hour. That'll be a nice long drive :(

LucindaE · 17/09/2013 11:08

MOG Oh no, why do they always choose the mornings, the worst possible time?

It's a bitch isn't it? Just keep telling myself that at least after that I can relax all day

ChocChaffinch · 17/09/2013 11:33

ha! MOG mine's tomorrow too, at 0850 Ffs!!

am dreading being told - oh you're only 7 weeks jeez that'd kill me

MurderOfGoths · 17/09/2013 11:39

choc That's my fear too! Btw, I'm now really hoping you are at Watford!

ChocChaffinch · 17/09/2013 11:42

that would be quite a long way for me as my home is in the Midlands!

ChocChaffinch · 17/09/2013 11:43

the full bladder thing really freaks me out I'm scared of peeing myself

MurderOfGoths · 17/09/2013 11:43

Haha, ah well. Shall be thinking of you while I wait for my scan :)

ChocChaffinch · 17/09/2013 11:46

it's strangely nerve-wracking

am I aren't I pg? is it all food poisoning?

Meerka · 17/09/2013 13:03

Good luck both of you !! got anyone to drive you?

MurderOfGoths · 17/09/2013 13:09

DH is driving me luckily, and we've got to take DS as there is no one to babysit.

On the topic of DH, he's driving me nuts today. He's got a cold, which of course means he's dying. He also likes to ignore that he's passed it on to me, so I have it on top of the HG. He keeps looking over at me and saying, "what's wrong now?". Well DH, the same damn thing that has been wrong 24 hours of every day for the last 5 weeks. Stop acting surprised when I tell you I feel nauseas. Normally he's really good, but right now? Not so much.

ChocChaffinch · 17/09/2013 13:12

my dh will take me too, he'll just go into work after.
Im consultant led so hopefully will meet the great man after scan - unlikely I know I never met the ones I had for prev pgs

remember green notes I am shite about remembering them
