Pentagon that's nice- you might have a maternity leave buddy there!!

Midwife appt went well :) she even managed to get some blood out of me this time! (None forthcoming last time...) She has referred me to consultant and VBAC clinic to discuss birth options although she did say that as DD was breech there is a chance that due to a small pelvis I might only have breech babies.. this hadn't even occurred to me. Again she seemed quite supportive of a possible ELCS. I just really don't want to put my body through a trial of labour to end up with an EMCS again. However I do keep thinking about the recovery of CS to try and stay open minded towards VBAC. Having a planned date would be soooo appealing though. Will see what consultant says and also how hips go.

shell my experience of PGP and delivery last time was that they did refer me to a consultant to discuss being induced on my due date because of the pain. I ended up going into labour early anyway though so there was no need. It might be worth requesting a referral to discuss this sooner rather than later for some peace of mind and the option of an end date.

Argh I had forgotten the deep temptation of working from home whilst pg to just curl up and have a nap in the afternoon... zzzzzzzz

kjh5 · 03/09/2013 14:48

Thank you everyone! DH just messaged me to say he is on such a high after seeing the bean with heartbeat on the screen. He was trying to be all brave and manly and when she turned the screen around to show us I heard him start sniffling! Grin

Welcome meerkat you are in good company here. Today you are pregnant! Congrats on the BFP x

Pentagon · 03/09/2013 15:49

thanks pixie! Smile hopefully I'll get to know her better then!

kjh that's so sweet of you DH!

gary I forgot to say earlier - great choice of name! Alexander is my all-time favourite boys' name!

TotalShock · 03/09/2013 15:49

I'm sorry not to be positive but need a little hand holding. They said at scan they'd let us know nt results in two weeks if ok and ring in a week if not

My heart just sank when they called. 1:95. Just feel so low after last weeks high. Maybe I'm just being pathetic but I can't help it

Oh total. Did they talk to you about the options - do you think you'll go for further tests? This is probably a really stupid thing to say but although 1:95 is a result they need to flag up, the chances are still on your side. We're all here for handholding whatever happens.

andadietcoke · 03/09/2013 18:46

Hello everyone, sorry I've not replied to all your lovely messages - been a bit up and down. We got Sophie and Charlotte back together from the NICU on Saturday morning and have been getting to know each other since. My blood pressure is high though, and they won't discharge me, so this is Day 6 in hospital and I have utterly had enough. I'm teary and grumpy and just want to be at home, none of which is helping my blood pressure. So frustrated.

But on the plus side, I have two lovely daughters, and have managed to get some sleep. DH is sleeping at the hospital and my mum's coming during the day when he's at work. I feel so sorry for him!

Ps ranitidine is fine in pregnancy, brand name is Zantac. I swore by Gaviscon dual action as well - worked instantly on me.

Total sending you lots of virtual hugs. I wish I could add to the positive advice but I know nothing about the results or tests - it's on my list of things to get clarification on at my booking appointment. From what little reading I have done on it I think birds is right - it's a result they need to flag up but the stats are still on your side. I hope you can get some definitive answers soon xx

Anda your babies are too gorgeous!!! What an amazing job you have done cooking up those two beauties. Sucks you are still in hospital - here's hoping you get to go home soon xx

Kat we're going to keep the scan on Sat - it's already been paid for and although we could cancel no problems DH wants to see the bean again. Plus we get pics from this one and if everything is still ok on Sat we're planning on telling the in-laws I'm pg again. They said they didn't want to know too early this time but I think they'll be happier knowing we've had two scans and my family knows so I see no point in keeping it from them any longer!

BumpKitty · 03/09/2013 19:02

Oh wow anda they are just gorgeous! and so lovely snuggled up together. Congratulations again on your new family Grin

I have tremendous sympathy for you being in hospital all this time - what a complete arse. I'm going to do some positive thinking/vibes to lower your blood pressure (I was kept in hospital till I had done a poo, it was not fun!).

total sorry you now have this worry. What is the next step? do you need to see the midwife?

IBelieveInPink · 03/09/2013 19:08

Total - my friend had similar results and after further testing all is absolutely fine. Stay strong til you know any different x

Diet - I can't see!! Why won't my stupid Internet load! Lovely to hear from you thought, glad the girls are doing well, sorry to hear you still stuck in hospital. You must be going crazy!

So, I got stabbed with whooping cough today. Nurse said that some people's arms swell up like apples! Eek!

IBelieveInPink · 03/09/2013 19:22

Diet - they are gorgeous!!!!! (Internet workin now) well done you on getting such cute ones! :)

TeaAndANatter · 03/09/2013 19:27

Great news for all the scan gang!

Total, sorry that's higher than you'd hoped. I agree with birds that stats are on your side with that, but I'm sending every hand hold possible and a big hug too x.

Grumpy tea alert: Went to GP to book in, and he was a totally useless bag of arse (sorry doctor, but you were a bit shit). After I said I worried so much about this one lasting, he fixed me with a beady eye and told me it'd be 'God's will' if it did (I don't believe in God). He asked me how long my last period was (it was a post MC bloodbath of 11 days), and he calculated my date based on a LMP date of my last day bleeding, not the first day of my LMP. I explained that in my own limited opinion of three pregnancies and actually owning a uterus that he was wrong, and I was 11 days further on than that, and he told me that 'that's what the medical training allows me to tell you, you don't know this. It's the LAST (said with emphasis) day of the Menstrual Period'. So he wouldn't give me a booking appt with the midwives until I'm nearly 11 weeks, by which I'll go utterly round the twist. Phoned midwives, and that's when they'll see me, but they said they couldn't see me earlier anyway. Asked for scan, they told me to beat it (but in a slightly nicer way than that, to be fair to them), so I've booked an eye watering (for me at the moment) £95 private job on Sunday.

So I'm now allegedly about 5 weeks + 5 days (although I'm 7+2/3), which would mean I tested positive before I actually ovulated. Twit. Didn't bother explaining that part, as obv I don't have a medical degree. Grr. Grr. Grr.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/09/2013 19:28

total sorry to hear you are worried, i didn't have the NT tests so not the best person to dish out advice. but from what i've read there's a blood test as well so i'm guessing that will come soon? hope you can get through the worry x

anda oh my word those wee babies are so scrummy! good hair too! so sorry you're imprisoned in the hospital, hope the blood pressure comes down soon and you can escape home. your girls are so gorgeous, might have a wee cry of happy tears xx

ibip my arm is still sore after getting the jab on friday past. the redness isn;t as bad today and i think i might be able to sleep on that side tonight...why oh why didn't i get it in my right arm!?! it is still pretty swollen and all hard under the skin. mmm glamourous eh!

happy everything went well for you this morning kjh, bet that's a relief and a half.

bump i'm the same...i finish on 25th oct so only 2 days after you :) just think though...we start maternity leave next month! doesn;t sound so bad when you say itlike that :)

motor i can't remember if i said congrats on your great scan too :) yippee!

right off to buy some cake to munch on for great british bake off nom nom :)

TeaAndANatter · 03/09/2013 19:29

Felt the need to add a further grrrrr in bold. Sorry for thread hogging, everyone, needed that to be on the outside not the inside! Grin

TeaAndANatter · 03/09/2013 19:37

In fact, come to think of it, it would mean I tested positive before I had sex (we were conserving sex effort for only the four days pre-OV). That means I am carrying an immaculate conception. Wow. Like the dude said, God willing.

Snort. Hmm

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/09/2013 19:50

oh tea you are in fact virgin mary! ha! (sorry to anyone religious)!!! what a complete fucktard of a doctor. it amazed me how some doctors have the ability to make you feel like complete crap with just a look of 'i don't really give a hoot dear'. i would make an appointment with a different gp in the practice and give them your dates. i have had a few really bad experiences with a gp at our surgery, one was just after my erpc. he's so horrid that i wouldn't even have an appointment with him if i was on my death bed. (he told me i had growing pains when i went to him with a psoriasis problem ffs. i wonder what part of his education taught him to say that)

kjh5 · 03/09/2013 19:53

tea what a moron! He literally has no idea what he is talking about. Growling along with you. Glad you booked a private scan. The good news is they'll date you - can you not phone midwives back with that information and get them to see sense? I was totally gratified today when - after telling the midwife I was 7+1 the measurements showed I was spot on (I know it's not an exact science). Hope all goes well with the scan x

shellsocks · 03/09/2013 20:04

bump am meant to start mat leave on my due date but have hols meaning I would actually finish on 16th oct...BUT if I don't get back they force start of mat leave at 36 weeks Hmm

pentagon and pixie thanks for the thoughts re induction. Think I will mention it to MW with the intention of seeing how I am when I get there, I had a bad time with DS so the thought of an induction which may make things longer/more painful/interventions etc scares me tbh Hmm

Hi total sorry I can't be more helpful but try to think those are still good odds in your favour, thinking of you x

anda GrinGrinGrin your girls are so gorgeous, you are so lucky well done, you must be over the moon! Sorry you are being kept in, it will be forgotten so quickly once you get home but I know it drives you mad being stuck in there. Thanks for the picture, its really made my week Smile

tea sorry to laugh but what else can you do in the face of that doctor! What a joke ShockConfused

Forester · 03/09/2013 20:22

I also want to say congratulations to kat, motor and kjh - I can't imagine how worried you must have been kjh.

And welcome to impatient and meerkat. I've found this thread hugely helpful as it makes me reaslise I'm not the only one to be struggling with worry. By this stage in my previous pregnancies (though with the second - MMC one - I didn't get this far) we'd told the parents and a fair few close friends. At the moment I've only told one friend in RL - who I told immediately we found out. I wanted to be congratulated the previous times (particularly since it had taken a long time to conceive) but this time around I'm just too hesitant as I don't want the congratulations until I know everything is ok. I've also been avoiding a few friends for the last few weeks as I only want to see them when I can say my news. We've got the 12 week scan next week so with everything crossed I will then have the good news to share.

Forester · 03/09/2013 20:34

Didn't realise when I posted that I hadn't read the last page so:

Sorry Total that you've got an additional thing to worry about. I was looking at some posts re Harmony a couple of days ago (as I was already beginning to worry about the result for me). Someone posted to say that the NTstat she got was 1:100 but the harmony scan showed 1:10,000. But I think it costs a few hundred pounds. That's the limit of my "knowledge".

Really please Anda that your girls are doing well and hope you are out of hospital soon.

And I would be asking for a different doctor from now on Tea

GardenWorm · 03/09/2013 21:33

Nooo! I can't see the beautiful baby Anda's (but I know they are beautiful so will just have to use my imagination). Crap that you are still in the hospital but best you aren't home until you are ship shape....trying to look on the bright side for you. Lovely you have lots of support xxx

Total I know of someone who had 1:4 and there was diddly squat wrong with their baby. What advice did they give when they spoke to you? Am hoping they didn't just leave you with nothing?

Tea knob jockey Dr. You should complain. But in order to make it more important complain that you feel it was a racial attack as you are in fact Muslim or a.n.other religion. Was he old by any chance? I had the joy of meeting one like that when I was miscarrying; I asked whether I should go to work or if he was signing me off and his reply was 'well you can't go to work whilst you are bleeding' unfortunately I think he meant women in general should not work whilst 'bleeding'! Dinosaur.

My last day at work is 25th Oct too - yippppeeeee!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/09/2013 21:43

Pooh we should have a maternity leave party :) only 7 more Mondays!

Ok so is anyone watching the midwives??? I want to slap that husband saying he doesn't want any pain relief. I wonder if his non-English-speaking wife has had a say in it?!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/09/2013 21:43

Ooooh! Not pooh!!
