No reason really just wondering.

37+3 with first he's due 12 days before my 22nd bday. Always thought I would have one around this age. Only person nervous to tell s my dad but he was over the moon! DPs dads reaction didn't cross my mind but he went silent on phone (lives away) hung up, called back ten mins later Xmas day might I add. And said oh sorry you caught me by surprise I um don't think I'm ready to be a grandad! He will be 55 my dad will turn 45 6 day before due date.

So how old were you when you had your first? And any others while we're at it :)

Just wondering why you are asking.

It's not usual for someone like your partner's dad to be taken aback at the news that his son is to be a parent. You haven't said how old your partner is? He could be 18 or 28? I am sure your DP's dad will get used to the idea but don't be surprised that some people are surprised that some young people chose parenthood before other things in life.

Good luck with everything...

Gonnabmummy · 11/08/2013 11:17

nonomum just out of curiosity like the thread says. There's no real reason just peaked my curiosity as to what's 'average' I dnt know.

DP was 22 in may so there's 4 month between us. I just never thought he would consider himself too young at 54 obviously he may have been shocked but that isn't the response I thought we'd be met with..

I'll be 29 and feel very young! I've noticed at all the clinics that I'm nearly always the youngest one there.

My dad said he was too young to be a grandfather and he was 68!

TruJay · 11/08/2013 15:22

I was 21 when I had my son, lost our second baby at 23 and am now pregnant, aged 24, couple months off 25 with number 3 due November 2nd, very excited!

Our family had a lot to say about us getting married young let alone once we announced a baby too!

We had the "we're too young to be grandparents" comments too although I always thought in my head when they said it that they got married in late teens and had children shortly after so they were always gonna be young grandparents as they started young themselves Confused

Lydia161290 · 11/08/2013 15:28

22 and just had my first two weeks ago. :)

ratqueen · 11/08/2013 16:14

If you're looking for an average, googling stats would prob be more conclusive Smile
