lola and mrsfire

"bump humping" is a need not a want, that's for sure!Grin

if that's how babies were made, overpopulation would not be a problem and women would probably have to pay men to have sex!Grin Grin

Have however been jiggling to this

Urgh I've had a rubbish 38 week midwife appointment today. She had a minor paddy first off when she saw how swollen my feet and hands are. My wee and blood pressure were fine but she said I need to rest now so have to go to bed for a few hours every afternoon. Then she weighed me and told me I've gained 4 stone which is too much. She was talking about how she might have to speak to a consultant and bump up my risk status so I'll have to go to the labour ward 40 minutes away rather than our local MLU. :(

I'm already struggling with SPD, terrible heartburn, carpal tunnel (for which I have to wear wrist splints at night), sickness, back pain, insomnia, constant braxton sodding hicks and painful swollen feet. Plus the nausea never properly went away and now I am officially a whale having started out this process a small size ten.

I honestly don't know how I'll manage another potential 4 weeks of this. Sorry for this megawhinge, it's just feeling a bit much tonight.

lola1980 · 13/08/2013 09:05

Ginger - I was a size 8 and have put on almost 4st, I think it's fairly normal?? They say the average is 20kg which is about 3st anyway, maybe they are more worried about your swelling.

Guess what... I had my show this morning! Grin I had a bad night's sleep and needed to wee every five bloody minutes, and just felt different. Then had poo pains this morning and discovered the show. I'm hoping this means labour is imminent!

Gerty1002 · 13/08/2013 09:24

Sorry you're feeling upset ginger and I hope they keep you at low risk!

Ooh good luck lola, hope you don't have too long to wait! I've been obsessively watching for mine since my false alarm Sunday night.

LouiseD29 · 13/08/2013 09:31

Ginger, hope you're ok. I have put on almost four stone - but midwife hasn't weighed me since my first appointment. Hope they keep you low risk.

Lola - hope things get moving for you quickly!

40+3 today. Very bored, feeling very heavy and uncomfortable today, but no real signs. Bump is really hard. C'mon baby!!!

PurpleDana · 13/08/2013 09:35

Fingers crossed lola!
I'm the complete opposite re weight gain, I've been so ill throughout my pregnancy (hyperemesis & Malory Weiss tear being the main ones) that I have only just managed to get back up to the weight I was at my 8wk booking appt! I only started out a size 10/12. But midwife never really seemed concerned, as long as baby was growing & active that's all she bothered about. I got quite stressed about it tho.

Any news from cass?

islingtongirl · 13/08/2013 10:02

Sorry to hear you are feeling low ginger :( hope it isn't too long for you now. Im due in 11 days, had period type pains in the night but nothing this morning, and no show yet etc, I think I may have a few weeks left, dammit! I don't mind too much, I just don't want to get really impatient/irritable, and make these last few weeks miserable - any tips on how to to that?! I just really don't want to be induced either Hmm. Hope everyone is doing ok this morning!

Oops double post - sorry silly iphone!

Boosiehs · 13/08/2013 10:11

I'm due in 8 days but now want the little wriggler to be as late as possible as my DH has to have another op to remove cancerous cells. Probably on Thursday. He will be pretty much out of action for 2 weeks at least. Argh!!!

Gingerandlemon · 13/08/2013 10:13

Thanks ladies. It's reassuring to know this isn't a completely ridiculous/ unheard of weight gain. I've slept a bit better last night so feeling a little more positive. :)

Fingers crossed Lola!

MsFiremanSam · 13/08/2013 11:03

Woo! Baby girl arrived this morning after a 3 hour labour, 8lb 2. Can't believe less than 12 hours ago I was moaning to hubby about how it was never going to happen - and now I'm cuddling my gorgeous girl. I had no obvious signs either, so they really can come any time!

Ginger, don't worry about your weight gain. 4 stone is completely average in my experience and of friends. I've put on at least 3 and a half and had been obsessing about it. At the minute, I couldn't care less! (And I've just lost a stone in a day! Smile )

Lola, good luck! Your turn next !

Gerty1002 · 13/08/2013 12:12

Congratulations MsFiremanSam! Hooray for a speedy labour, too :).

UnitedZingDom · 13/08/2013 12:16

MsFiremanSam Congratulations!, well done!

btw it's me Zing, but had a nc failure, so had to come up with a temporary one till I get my old one back....hope you will all like this! Grin

PurpleDana · 13/08/2013 12:16

Wow congratulations msfireman! Super quick! Did the speed of it cause any probs? My cousin had a fast labour last year and ended up with a 3rd degree tear unfortunately. Ouch.

islingtongirl · 13/08/2013 12:22

Congratulations msfireman! Cant believe how quick that was - you give me hope! How are you feeling?

lola1980 · 13/08/2013 12:29

Oh congratulations! That was a surprise eh?! Great news. Got to be my turn next Smile

MsFiremanSam · 13/08/2013 13:35

Thanks everyone! Feeling pretty good, had a small tear but think I got off lightly considering the speed she flew out at, and with her arm over her head!
About to be discharged so will be back in my own bed tonight. Happy days!
Hang in there ladies, good luck x

Gonnabmummy · 13/08/2013 13:59

15 days to go for me. Still don't feel any diff, had really bad sickness early on but since then apart from kicking I haven't felt preg at all. Don't know what I was expecting but my bump doesn't seem to hinder me any and I just carry on as normal.

Should thank my lucky stars really, hoping Lil one will be a couple days over so I push him into sept like me :D DP has hols booked 17 days after due date so if he comes 3 days late after paternity DP will have the two week off giving him a month off with us :) x

Mayanbob · 13/08/2013 14:10

Congratulations MsFiremanSam That is super quick!

am now terrified that mine may sneak up on me at the most inopportune moment

Woodifer · 13/08/2013 14:39

Congrats to all now holding babies!

ginger really the weight check should be for recent weight in your notes to help with labour drug doses (eg diamorphine). 4 stone doesn't sound ridiculous, especially if you were slim to start.

boosie sorry to hear about your DH, keeping fingers crossed he be ok!

Snufflebabe · 13/08/2013 17:37

I have spent today not feeling right - I decided to go into town earlier and had to come home as I felt unwell. I feel a bit queasy and I have an aches lower back.

I have been busy making lasagne, wrapping DD birthday presents and hoovering so I'm not sure if I've just overdone it, or whether it's the start of something.

Due date is Thursday when I am getting a sweep.

MrBlondesFries · 13/08/2013 18:19

Sounds positive snuffle keep us posted!

Locketjuice · 13/08/2013 21:33

I had my baby girl! 40+1, 3 hours start to finish from waking up in pain to holding her, all went perfect and just a small graze, born at 4.00am and was home at 9am soooo happy! SmileSmileSmile
