Hope it's nothing rollermum!

Hopeful2013 · 10/09/2013 12:34

Oh Rollermum I feel your pain with the itchy! Is it a rash or just itching with no rash? Hope you get checked out and they put your mind at rest.

Gerty I am devastated for you! I hope little one decides todays the day and you go into full blown labour :-) 4cm is still really good though so hopefully you won't have to be induced on Friday, sending you lots of positive vibes.

Rollermum- I am eating a large bowlful of pineapple a day. I did read somewhere you actually need to eat 6 whole pineapples for it to have any effect Confused surely they can't mean in one day?? It will have taken me 3 days to eat one and that is really pushing it!

mrspaddy · 10/09/2013 12:45

I ate a whole pineapple this morning .. still nothing!!
I read it will lead to an upset stomach so best not to eat the six or seven they recommend to kick things off... though I am tempted!

Gerty1002 · 10/09/2013 12:51

Been having contractions since 2am, pretty intense but not getting close enough together to go to hospital. In fact now they have moved further apart! Need to rest but lying down brings on really intense contractions so in a bit of a catch 22!

Good luck rollermum hope it's nothing

BelleEtLaBaby · 10/09/2013 14:10

Still here. No sign. And now I have a cold.

Good luck, Roller. Hope all ok. Come on, babies! Out with you!

Rollermum · 10/09/2013 14:13

Hello all - all went ok in the assessment unit (very impressed with them) but waiting to hear on blood tests re liver. Baby heartbeat etc seems fine.

Mrs Paddy - a whole pineapple in one morning is amaz

Rollermum · 10/09/2013 14:15

Dang sorry

One pineapple is amazing!

Gerty - sounds very promising! Hope progresses so you can go in :-)

Hopeful2013 · 10/09/2013 17:15

Glad you're ok Rollermum, hope you haven't developed PUPPP too :-(

Gerty good luck!!

Mrs Paddy well done on the whole pineapple, you are a true inspiration. I have given up on pineapple and am now hoping in a cruel twist of irony a packet of jammie dodgers a day will help things along :-)

mummratheevertired · 10/09/2013 20:08

Hi all! Hope I can join you. Am 38+2 today.. I've just found out the baby is going to be big again - had a scan last Thursday and baby was already estimated at 7Ib9. Last baby was 9Ib7 at 40+1 so I clearly make big babies! I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow to see what they want to do, I was hoping for a birth centre birth so really don't want to go over!

I've got a bit of a dodgy tummy this evening like I ate something funny, wondering if this is a sign? I was induced last time due to waters going so I've no idea how it starts naturally!

FastWindow · 10/09/2013 20:15

Hi mummra I'm 39+0. Welcome along! I'm in the exact same boat, waters went early last time and induced two days later . Every unfamiliar pain or feeling is scrutinised and I'm thinking is this it?? Oh no wait...that's wind... :-[ :-)

Rollermum · 10/09/2013 23:12

Hey Hopeful my extra sympathies for you having PUPP - itching is so awful! I don't think I have PUPP because it is not just bump and is all over.

Welcome Mummra! Hope consultant appointment goes well :-)

Analysing every twinge here too. I thought nothing was happening but when hooked up to the monitor could see some contractions I couldn't feel. Not intense enough to mean anything happening though!

I'm seeing MW tomorrow (will be 4+5) and am expecting to get an induction date based on what they said at the hospital. Given the itching and worrying I think I'll be relieved tbh.

PoppettyPing · 11/09/2013 08:46

Hi all, I'm just popping my head in here at 40 weeks....never done this before so very interested to see how everyone's getting on!

mrspaddy i can't believe you ate a whole pineapple. respect.

are you seriously meant to eat SEVEN?? what is this madness?

i seem to have developed a very late sudden onset of debilitating SPD (after being very smug the whole pregnancy on how fit and pain-free I was feeling..that'll teach me)...now I can barely move and praying to not go too overdue or I will claw my own eyes out!!!

Hope you all are doing well and the pineapple is kicking things off!

Hopeful2013 · 11/09/2013 09:31

Hey PoppettyPing, loving the name! I think seven is ridiculous too and as Rollermum has pointed out there is only so much pineapple you can eat before you get tongue burn! I too was really chuffed I had such a nice pregnancy until I developed this rash over the last two weeks and it has ruined my enjoyment of the end part :-( which is a shame.

Utterly convinced myself that a third sweep tomorrow will be unsuccessful and we will be going all they way to 40+14!!

Rollermum good luck with the MW today, hope your rash has calmed down a bit and that they set a date for an induction... Have they given you a sweep yet?

Gerty, I'm hoping no news is good news your end of things and that your little bundle of joy is well on their way!!

Hi Mumra and Fast wow I always assumed that once you had been through labour once you knew what to expect, it had never occurred to me that wouldn't be the case. I hope for speedy labours for you both :-)

Not eating any more pineapple today, or raspberry leaf tea, I may even boycott the ball and just have a restful day. Good luck to those lucky enough to be in labour :-)

Rollermum · 11/09/2013 11:42

Hey Poppetty- eek, how annoying about SPD. I was feeling similarly pleased with myself about a relatively trouble free time but then the itching began!

Thanks Hopeful - no I haven't had a sweep yet. Slightly scared but I know it's prob not even the half of it. Good luck with your 3rd sweep! I'm also boycotting the raspberry leaf tea - it seemed to make indigestion worse.

People keep asking me if I'm trying to avoid giving birth on Sep 11th or Fri 13th but I'm really not - just want this baby to come!

Hopeful2013 · 11/09/2013 12:08

Haha I hadn't even thought of the dates but no definitely not avoiding any dates! I was hoping it wouldn't land on my birthday which is tomorrow but to be honest any time now would be lovely!

Don't be worried about the sweep, really totally pain free and be much nicer than getting induced :-) my friend had hers done and then started labour 6 hours later so they are really effective as well. Good luck x

Rollermum · 11/09/2013 12:52

Thanks Hopeful :-) do you know if midwife will do a sweep there and then in the appointment? Is not something we've discussed yet. I'm feeling quite 'bring it'! at the mo :-)

Gerty1002 · 11/09/2013 13:48

Well baby is finally here! Started out as lovely water birth as planned, though thankfully I don't remember much of it as it all got a bit scary apparently... baby William was unexpectedly large at 10lb4oz. Shoulder dystopia (correct term?) and a lot of blood loss on just gas and air makes for a rather tender and exhausted Gerty! But he is perfect :).

Rollermum · 11/09/2013 13:55

Sorry you had a difficult time Gerty but hurrah and congrats that you have a lovely new son! Thanks

Hopeful2013 · 11/09/2013 13:56

Ah congratulations Gerty! I'm glad your little boy has arrived safely and that you're ok too, well done for doing it on gas and air, that's amazing!!

Rollermum they should offer it to you then and there do good luck!! X

Gingerandlemon · 11/09/2013 14:00

Wow congrats Gerty! Sounds intense but I'm glad it all turned out ok for you.

Kilkers · 11/09/2013 14:11

Brilliant news Gerty, congratulations!

PoppettyPing · 11/09/2013 14:16

Oh you poor things Rollermum and Hopeful Itching's the worst!! More psychological torture than just a sore fanjo. Rollermum they should offer you a sweep right then and there at the appointment non? They did with me yesterday, she had a feel and I'm still in closed-cervixland so no go. I'm sure you'll have better luck.

I'm with you on the relaxing bit--I'm like "fuck the ball, I'm lying back for a minute". I had a breech baby until ECV at 38 weeks so I'm bloody sick of being upside-down and upright FGS! :)

PoppettyPing · 11/09/2013 14:17

Congratulations Gerty! That is one massive baby, well done!

PoppettyPing · 11/09/2013 14:22

I watched a birth scene in the Ina May Gaskin documentary where this woman was giving birth to a 10lb+ baby with shoulder dystocia. They flipped her on all fours (no easy task after a head's out I'm sure!) and she slipped right out with some skilled maneuvering. It was crazy to watch! Glad you and your boy are well

shentok · 11/09/2013 14:39

congratulations gerty, I'm so pleased for you Thanks love your name choice x
