Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi everyone. I'm still here! 40+2 now and apparently in the latent phase for the past few days. It hurts a lot today though! I'm refusing to get my hopes up though and heading back to bed with a hot water bottle, grumbling about pelvic pain and never ending pregnancy.

Hello new faces!

LadyFlumpalot · 28/08/2013 13:37

Hello may I join you? I'm 37+1 so not quite due any day but throughly hacked off and fed up.

Near constant backache. Waves of period pain, amd the occasional "OUCH" contraction. Surely I must be gearing up?!?

Boosiehs · 28/08/2013 14:40

Well that hospital trip was interesting at least. Apparently my cervix is 3/4 effaced, and I have an 86% glance o spontaneous labour in the next 7 days.

Booked for induction on the 3rd.

Argh!

cakebaby · 28/08/2013 17:07

Hello and welcome lady !

boosie well that's certainly more info than I've ever got from any HCP! FX for you.

Gerty ....it comes from being OLD! Grin

Kkklll · 28/08/2013 17:18

Hi everyone! Been watching and now feel the need to join in for my own sanity! 40 +1 and absolutely no signs what so ever!! Just had a midwife appointment and she booked me in for acupressure next Wednesday and a sweep at the same appointment. Not too bothered by that but fingers crossed things will get started before then!! Good luck everyone :)

Queazy · 28/08/2013 18:15

Hi all, I'm 40w 4d today and no sign! I've been offered a sweep on Friday but want to leave it until after the weekend. I think they'll induce me on the Wed/Thur if baby's not here. Does anyone know why some hospitals seem to induce at 41w, whilst others wait until 42w?

I'm keen to labour naturally as have heard induction makes for a longer labour. By next week, I might be desperate and do anything though Wink

MeanMrsMustard · 28/08/2013 18:48

Hello, 40+1 today.
I had a midwife appointment. Not very illuminating. The baby is still 3/5th engaged, but she seemed to think this was a 'good amount'. My next appointment is on the 3rd, for a scan/internal/sweep and to book up the induction. I#ve also booked an acupuncture appointment for the weekend so will see if that gets anything moving...
My back pain from Monday has completely disappeared. I think it was unconnected anyway.

Time to get on my birth ball and do another session of bouncing. Hope everyone is coping well! I've found today horribly hot for some reason.

batfuttocks · 28/08/2013 18:52

40+1 today here too. Have developed a sore throat and blocked nose in the last twenty four hours and feel like utter shite. Torn between desperation to get things going and feeling like crawling under my duvet and hiding until I feel better again.

Gerty1002 · 28/08/2013 20:49

Oooh lots of newbies joining the fed up club today :).

Had a lot of "could you please have this baby soon" messages today... yeah I'll get right on that!

cakebaby Ah I see, though I think in some areas they offer a sweep on your due date as standard.

batfuttocks · 28/08/2013 20:57

I know! Such a bloody cliche but why does everyone contact you for news? As if we would forget to mention the baby had come! When they ask me if I've had any signs I do feel like describing the two great globs of mucus plug that emerged on Monday!

HDino · 28/08/2013 20:59

Haha yep if anyone asks me if babys here yet i will scream!! It's that and the - well make the most of it and rest up. Really rest up when I'm hot and uncomfortable Hmm

batfuttocks · 28/08/2013 21:33

I'm too knackered for labour tonight anyway. Would it be too much to ask to go into labour during the day?

Gerty1002 · 28/08/2013 21:58

I'm trying so hard to resist sending passive aggressive replies:

"Oh yea I had the baby last week, thought we'd just keep him in the cupboard for a little while as he's not technically due yet..." :)

Boosiehs · 28/08/2013 22:45

Heh! Well I have my fingers crossed for you all.

Out hospital is super tech savvy, and full of researchers. I've foun it really illuminating.

Still having painful baby movements where it feels like he's trying to head but his way out! Been really grumpy and tired today, had a 2 hour nap this afternoon. Lovely.

No show, contractions, backache. Meh. Kind of torn between keeping the baby in until September for school, and wanting my body back! What do you all think?

Gerty1002 · 29/08/2013 01:00

I feel torn for the same reason.

Up bouncing on my ball as had some cramps and a lot of baby headbutting like you just mentioned, seeing if gravity might help things along...

Queazy · 29/08/2013 06:54

I've had two emails and a text from friends saying to 'wait until September'...like I have a choice! I'm overdue and to be honest would really like the baby to just come out now - my body is knackered and it's a struggle to hoist myself out of bed. It's like people feel sorry for me that I might have my baby at the very end of Aug though... xx

batfuttocks · 29/08/2013 07:11

I have an August boy already and he's been fine. If anything, I worry about having the oldest child in the year - the teachers have to aim the lessons at thirty kids and I often think if you are a bright child you may be better off 6 months younger than the average, and being pushed, rather than 6 months older! Of course, that assumes this baby will be bright.... WinkBut certainly not worrying about the August/September thing. In fact, as a working mum there's a lot to be said for squeezing the baby out in the next day or two to avoid another year of childcare costs!

Another night without action, up early doing my tax return, of all things. Is this some kind of perverse nesting instinct, I wonder? Trying to work out how much of my savings I need for my January tax bill (apparently all of them). My original due date was Friday then my 12 week scan shifted it to the Tuesday just gone. I'm sort of expecting action in the next 72 hours as I reckon the original date was more accurate in terms of when I think I ovulated and conceived.

How's everyone else this morning?

Kkklll · 29/08/2013 07:26

Morning! Not a sausage.... or even signs of a baby! Lol My twin niece and nephews are late August birthdays and some of their fellow class mates tower over them, it's hard to believe they are actually in the same year! I'm not worried about it, we've waited 9 months whats a few more days, annoying as it may be I know it'll happen when it's going to happen ..... it's got to at some point one way or another :)

Gerty1002 · 29/08/2013 07:27

Crampy with a baby trying to burrow out - or so it feels like. My stepfather has to go away for work for two weeks on the 2nd so I'd love it if baby made an appearance in the next few days.

The childcare issue is also a good point! And DP and I are very enthusiastic about making sure our child is taught well so I don't have any concerns really about education. I just want to meet my baby please!

Gingerandlemon · 29/08/2013 08:19

Any chance of my little one showing up seems to have passed - I was convinced she was coming yesterday morning but the contractions have slowed down and become less painful. Large sigh. I'm now 3 days overdue and constantly fielding the "hurry up baby" texts and "hang on for September, baby" texts. How ridiculous on both counts. Who knows what little person is in there yet and I get a bit ragey perturbed when people assume that she'll have terrible problems at school if she's born on Saturday but will be a genius if born on Sunday. Honestly.

Queazy · 29/08/2013 08:34

Couldn't agree more with your posts about Aug/Sep births - my baby isn't going to fail in life because he or she is born in the next two days! I felt crampy this morning and baby hadn't been as active (just a bit of gentle squirming). It's happened before and just stopped though, so I'm not holding out any hope yet...

Very impressed on doing a tax return to keep busy and nesting. I've lost the plot a bit today. I don't have any plans so going to have to put together a to do list, as starting to feel very bored. I didn't buy any box sets damn it...I would have died for a duvet day when I was commuting and working during the heatwave!

Really hope we all get some signs soon. I wish I hadn't finished work at 37 weeks now but that's easy to say now when it's cooler weather!

Xx

BentleyBelly · 29/08/2013 08:52

Morning ladies. Well I was up half the night with quite strong pains coming every 8 minutes but at about 2.30am I drifted off to sleep and they disappeared :( woke again at 5am really disappointed. Ah well back to bouncing on my ball all day again. Bored.com.

Re the Aug/Sept thing, my SIL was an August baby and she is one of the brightest people I know! I am starting to get a bit shitty with the 'any news yet?' texts, probably best that I step away from my phone today. Good luck ladies, someone has to pop today!

CleanAllTheThings · 29/08/2013 10:46

An elderly relative keeps going on about how she hopes it is a September baby. It's doing my head in! Sorry my baby is already such a disappointment.

I woke up again in the night with period type pains and again this morning but they eased right off when i got up. I still have a very vague pre-period feeling down low and a bit of back ache. Baby isn't as active as usual so wondering if that is a sign that it will happen soon! Off to see the midwife shortly for my 40(+2) check.

I've only had one text so far asking where the baby is, hoping my friends are savvy enough not to pester me too much.

Gingerandlemon · 29/08/2013 18:43

Is it possible to be pregnant forever?

Queazy · 29/08/2013 19:22

I'm thinking there might be. I think my baby is never going to be ready to come out itself! xx
