Gerty1002 · 26/08/2013 21:41

Congratulations James, another great story!

Look forward to giving you all mine, whenever that may be! Potentially in 2.5 weeks time if baby needs a little persuasion.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/08/2013 22:50

Thanks guys, best of luck for anyone still waiting, I hope it all goes smoothly for you all. Smile

abby81 · 27/08/2013 13:53

Well I went for my sweep and it was unsuccessful (too tight cervix). Totally gutted but next one booked for thursday and then induction Friday. I just don't want to be induced and have to sit in hospital waiting for ages. Anyone got any positive stories to cheer me up?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/08/2013 14:12

Abby there are things you can do to help soften the cervix prior to a sweep, the prostaglandins in semen soften it, as does evening primrose oil apparently. You can pop capsules up there or rub it directly on your cervix if you can reach. There are probably other options out there too. Good luck x

CleanAllTheThings · 27/08/2013 16:17

Hi everyone, it's my due date today! No signs at all yet so expecting to be waiting a little while. Although perhaps not judging by James experience! Congratulations!

MeanMrsMustard · 27/08/2013 17:23

hello, can I join in?
Its my due date today too. I wasn't expecting much from today, but actually feel surprisingly miffed that labour hasn't started!
I've been slowly losing bits of my plug over the past few days, felt what was possibly some back pain yesterday, and might have a bit of a dodgy tummy. Oh, and the occasional stabby shooty pain combined with lots of BH. I think its going to be a long week or so...
I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow and looking forward to finding out at least how engaged baby is. It was 3/5 10 days ago.

congratulations for all the recent births. Hoping mine won't be too far away.

Boosiehs · 27/08/2013 18:59

Argh!!!!!! The baby has been head butting my cervix all day. No show, no contractions, no bloody nothing!!!!!!

Just about fed up. Off to the hosp tomorrow for the prolonged pregnancy clinic. I'll be 40+6.

I'm going to be pregnancy or ever aren't I?!

cakebaby · 27/08/2013 20:41

Hello meanmrs welcome to our waiting game Grin

shentok · 27/08/2013 21:27

evening all, long time lurker here and now ready to join Smile I'm 39+4 today with no sign of labour. DS was 1 day over but this little bundle feels very content and cosy so I think I'll be on the thread for a while. congratulations to all the new mummies and good luck to everyone waitingSmile x

abby81 · 27/08/2013 21:34

Just about to head off to bed, bounce on ball check, nipple stimulation-check, walk-check, evening primrose capsule from top end check......just wondering pop the whole thing in downstairs and it will dissolve? I might try squeazing contents too. Do I need to do a handstand? lol

Gonnabmummy · 28/08/2013 08:14

Due date today! No sign not in a hurry yet I'm crossing fingers for Monday it would mean a lot x

CleanAllTheThings · 28/08/2013 08:25

I woke up at about 1am with lower backache, took some paracetemol after an hour and managed to get back to sleep, then i woke up again at about 6 with dull period pains low down. Drifted in and out of sleep for a couple of hours and it seemed like they were coming and going but no particular pattern and only an achey feeling. I am up now having breakfast and it has stopped! I guess this sort of thing could go on for days but it is encouraging as i've not had any signs until now.

Toptack · 28/08/2013 10:58

Hi, it's my due date today as well, and no signs of any action whatsoever :-( I had a sleepless night last night as my mum came down with food poisoning/a tummy bug yesterday - we've just moved to the area and she's our only option for baby sitting DS1 when it all kicks off. Plus we've seen her regularly over the last few days and I'm terrified I'll catch it too... can you imagine having diarrhoea in labour?! Thankfully for all concerned she says she's feeling a bit better today - I will be giving the poor woman a wide berth until she has fully recovered though!

Gerty1002 · 28/08/2013 10:58

Getting very impatient now, 39+6 and stupidly never thought I'd get this far. I think DTD-induced contractions gave me far too much false hope!

Have had very few mild cramps, quite a few BH and painful baby movements down low but nothing much else.

Starting to worry about how huge this baby is going to be to push out in two weeks time! Hopefully labour will sneak up on me and I wont have to find that out!

BentleyBelly · 28/08/2013 10:59

Hello ladies....today is my due date so thought I would join in the thread. Baby is back to back with a leg either side of my waist (like an upside down frog) and barely engaged so I think we are in for a long wait. I've given up trying all the things recommended to encourage her out, although I do love pineapple so might keep eating that. Getting quite good at balancing laptop on my knees whilst sitting on ball now!

cakebaby · 28/08/2013 11:44

Hello to all our new ladies! Hang in there Gerty.

Don't forget to join the august post natal thread in due course!

40+4 today, not a peep.... 2nd sweep tomorrow before induction Sunday, grrr.

HDino · 28/08/2013 12:08

Hi ladies
Thought I would join. Due date today and just had a checkup. Babies 4/5th palpable and deflexed - midwife didn't seem to say anything or give any indication I should be doing anything! Feeling anxious about it all now!

Gerty1002 · 28/08/2013 12:27

Quite a few ladies due today!

cakebaby I am weirdly jealous of your sweeps, I'll only be offered one at 40+10, leaving only 4 days until they would induce me! So I won't even know if I'm remotely dilated or how my cervix is doing until then, unless I go into labour ofc. The absolute uncertainty is v frustrating!

Good luck for yours, hope it coaxes baby out before Sunday :)
