Surely enough, another night of post-DTD contractions that lead to nothing. Frustrating but keep telling myself it will be doing something... all good practice I guess.

Hopefully some of us will have babies today!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/08/2013 12:43

Well the kids are out for the day, everything is quiet, calm, nobody has nagged for an update... I'm fed, well rested, feeling ready. This is the ideal moment. So where are my contractions???? Angry

Gonnabmummy · 25/08/2013 13:57

39+4 today sweep booked on Friday not holding my breath tho haven't had a twinge or anything. However made plans to visit friends for coffee on Friday so Sod's law the sweep will get things going.
Only a 5 min drive to three house so no biggy.
Things feeling very final now still can't imagine coming home with a newborn!

Gerty1002 · 25/08/2013 18:31

JamesAnd Did they turn up in the end? I'm thinking mine will do the opposite, so thinking of planning things that will make going into labour inconvenient, as then it will clearly happen... won't it?!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/08/2013 19:15

Nope, not a sausage. Just bought a birthing ball, hoping if I spend the evening on it while watching funny films maybe it'll shake her loose! She couldn't get any lower, my cervix keeps stinging, I wonder if it's slowly starting to dilate over the last day or two, but haven't had a show or anything.

Gerty1002 · 25/08/2013 21:10

Fingers crossed! I'm getting a lot of cervix/pelvic pain too and whenever baby is being active I take straight to the birthing ball!

Mayanbob · 25/08/2013 21:22

Hello! No more babies since i last checked in Sad

Nothing happening here, having a sweep tomorrow (40+5) so maybe that'll help matters but i'm not feeling particularly hopeful. I feel pretty good, but I just want to cuddle my baby now.

Having BH quite a bit in the evenings/ mornings.

Made a cake and will probably eat half of it.

gonnabamummy Coming home with a newborn does seem strange doesn't it? even though it's the thing I want more than anything. I think sometimes it is too easy to get caught up in the whole being pregnant forever thing, and sometimes kind of forget that you actually get a baby at the end of it.

Queazy · 25/08/2013 22:10

Just had a curry, followed by figs and then a raspberry leaf tea. Now on my pregnancy ball. 40wk 1 day and counting...! I never thought I'd be so obsessed Smile xx

Boosiehs · 25/08/2013 22:21

I've had what I think are BH all day, with added period type pains and a super firm bump. Plus the odd shooting pain in my fanjo and strange baby movements. Quite uncomfortable really.

Hmmmm. I might have a bath tonight before trying to go to bed.....

Hope the rest of you are feeling ok tonight.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/08/2013 23:09

This baby is never going to fucking come out. Sad

Boosiehs · 26/08/2013 01:22

James, I have my fingers crossed for you!

I've been getting more and more painful cramps this evening. Hmmmm.... I wonder if it will progress?

Queazy · 26/08/2013 07:41

After all my efforts last night, not even a twinge. I think the baby likes a hot curry. I had more twinges from doing nothing! I'm far too impatient for this Confused xx

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/08/2013 07:42

Thanks boosiehs! Hope yours turn into something too!

I'm lying in bed, haven't got up yet, I'm having some kind of contractions that are actually a bit painful, but they're low low down so I doubt they're real. Reluctant to move as they're bound to go!

Mayanbob · 26/08/2013 07:48

Hope it progresses James!

I too have woken with crampy feeling in lower abdomen and back. Dare I hope?

islingtongirl · 26/08/2013 08:02

Hey guys, hope you are all ok this morning. I had my baby girl yesterday afternoon after my waters broke at 11pm on sat night - fairly quick labour but exhausting! I think the sweep helped me and I did drink a lot of RLT and pushing only took 30 mins max, maybe less, so wonder if that helped? Did a lot of ball bouncing as well day that waters broke.

Mayanbob · 26/08/2013 08:11

islington congratulations!!!!!

So happy for you!
did it get you out of the BBQ?

Really glad it was quite quick for you. Are you back home now?

Gingerandlemon · 26/08/2013 08:45

Yay congrats islington! Glad it went well.

Due date for me today. Come on out, baby!

abby81 · 26/08/2013 12:10

I am so fed up and having a good frustrated cry and need a winge. 10 days od today and I'm not even asking for the baby. Just a sign that I am near would be good! No bh for days, no plug loss and no contractions! I feel totally useless and like my body doesn't know what to do! All I can do is lie about. I went out for 30 mins yesterday but felt so tired and sick I spent the rest of the day horizontal on the sofa. Sad

Boosiehs · 26/08/2013 13:33

Poor you Abby. I really hope you get to labour soon! (And it's super quick).

I'm 40+4 today. Mw on weds. Had more and more BH and cramping. Just really tired of this now!

abby81 · 26/08/2013 17:33

Thanks Boosiehs, I too have mw tomoz and hopefully she will do a sweep and rummage etc! Haven't had too bad a day after my winge earlier. It's been a nice day and dh took me for a walk which was good. No more signs but I got out of my grump! Hope everyone else is ok. Grin

Mayanbob · 26/08/2013 18:58

Well... Turned out my crampy feelings were contractions! Started timing them about half 8, every 4 mins. Midwife came round to check progress at 10:40 (was due to visit to do sweep anyway), And my beautiful baby boy flew out at 11:20 in a completely unplanned home birth on damp towels at a sturdy 8lb 4oz. Me continuum everywhere so are in hospital tonight as need to be checked by a paediatrician but seem to be ok. Might xfr to birth centre tomorrow to help get breast feeding established.

Sorry to hear you were feeling crappy Abby. Hope you and Boosie (and everyone else!) have your babies soon.

Ps. I had no warning of this so goes to show -like a lot of other people on here, it can just creep up on you.

Mayanbob · 26/08/2013 19:19

Me continuum = meconium Confused

Gerty1002 · 26/08/2013 19:34

Wow what a birth story! Good job your midwife was there! Congratulations :).

DP and I have gutted the entire house and garden today and have all day to relax tomorrow before he goes back to work on Wednesday, so it would be lovely if baby turned up in the next 24 hours - no twinges today though but your story gives me hope, mayanbob!

Boosiehs · 26/08/2013 19:41

Bloody hell mayanbob! Congratulations!!

What a fantastic birth story!!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/08/2013 19:46

Me too Mayanbob! Baby born today at half twelve after a 5 1/2 hour labour at home. I had a huge cry at 9.30 when the kids left to stay with family, in case something would go wrong and leave them motherless. I was completely distraught! But I took some rescue remedy and pulled myself together. Went to take some cocodamol and realised dp had used them all in the last three days for his blinking toothache! Wink

The contractions were every 2 min, then back to every 3-4 min when I got in the pool at 10.15am, mw's arrived shortly afterwards, didn't do any vaginal exams just left me to it (they did listen in & do blood pressure etc) kept me calm and talked me through all the contractions. I nibbled on a bit of toast but didn't really want it, so when I got to what must have been transition I took it out on the toast and screwed it up angrily. Grin

I asked for gas and air when I started to feel like it was a bit too much for me to cope with, but they said "we'll just see how you get on through this next contraction" and it was only one or two more that I felt the baby come down and then it wasn't so painful, or perhaps painful in a different way? She was born in three quick "easy" pushes (third baby, two previous tears and a knackered pelvic floor = good for something!) it caught the mw's by surprise to be honest!

Mw posted baby through my legs to me and I caught her. She was tiny, 7lb like the others, covered in masses of vernix, she breathed and cried immediately, pinked up and had apgars of 9 and 9. Had physiological 3rd stage in the pool, intact placenta out in 10 min, and we were tucked up having a feed and a bacon butty on the sofa shortly after.

Bloody fab independent mw's made everything so easy, and didn't mess with me too much which I appreciated (asked me if I tore etc rather than poking around down there unnecessarily) as it happens I didn't tear for the first time ever, and it doesn't even sting when I wee. Must be because of the pool as my skin isn't that elastic usually.

She's a beautiful little thing, not sure what we're calling her yet. She's been on the boob a lot, just waking up for more now, need to change her first nappy. I feel incredibly lucky.

By the way, I had no signs before labour started, no braxton hicks overnight, no show (that came out on first push) apparently waters went in the pool but I didn't notice until mw said the waters had gone cloudy. So have faith, you know how frustrated and upset I was yesterday, maybe that was just a hormone surge prior to things kicking off. Best of luck to everyone still waiting. x
