Fingers crossed! So far I only have high BP and protein in urine. Dr tends to be cautious, hope this just means monitoring.

Do ou think I ought to take my hospital bag in with me?

Gingerandlemon · 21/08/2013 22:52

They did bloods and a more in depth urine analysis with me which can say whether or not you have it so maybe it's just so they can do that in the first instance. Plus maybe a bp series so they can see what it does over time.

I'd probably stick the bag in the car. That way it's there if you need it. If they do decide you have preeclampsia I guess they might want to act quickly?

PurpleDana · 21/08/2013 23:00

Congratulations bex! First half of your story sounded wonderful lol.
Midwife & sweep tomoro. Worked for my son 18yrs ago, contractions started within 2hrs & he arrived 10hrs later... Wish me luck!

Boosiehs · 21/08/2013 23:16

Good luck purplediana.

Thanks v much ginger. I had bloods done 2 weeks ago which were clear. No car unfortunately so we'll get a cab, just makes it a bit harder with the bags, and the fact DH still has a crocked shoulder.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/08/2013 00:58

Good luck boosiehs, hope it isn't that.

Spent a fair bit of time doing nipple stim with a breastpump tonight, then a bath with clary sage oil in it. Had a few contractions but whether they'll keep going I don't know.

Haddock73 · 22/08/2013 06:32

40+4 still nothing apart from very irregular and painful contractions every evening. Nothing is progressing and fear I will get to 42 weeks like this and then be induced again.

This heat isn't helping either.

abby81 · 22/08/2013 08:16

Errrr Jamesandgiantbanana, forgive my ignorance but how do u use breast pump as u would to express......and again forgive me but did anything come out? Lol, so embarassed by my question.....feel like I've just asked a friend what a swear word means! Lordy!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/08/2013 10:38

Lol Abby don't worry! I just used it as you would normally use one to express, except that I did it gently so not a full squeeze on the trigger just a bit. I don't know if this is your first baby or not but newborns tend to do sort of fluttery sucks as well as bigger ones so I figured I didn't need to do it really hard. Nothing came out, it's only a bit of colostrum at this point. But my boobs are a bit sore today so if you're going to try it go easy lol

Think I did about 5 min on one side then 5 min rest then 5 min on the other side. If the contractions feel like they're getting too intense then stop and have a rest.

Had a nice nights sleep after my clary sage bath, few contractions but nothing painful. Getting the odd tightening today but haven't done anything to encourage it as yet, going for a walk later as that definitely brings on the braxtons!

Hope you're all doing ok waiting/labouring/postnatal mummies! Smile

bigredbaboonsbottom · 22/08/2013 10:43

Still nothing at all here. Feet swelling though, so best 'fess up to that at appointment today.

Good luck Boosiehs hope all is OK.

So fed up and unsettled.

abby81 · 22/08/2013 10:46

Lol, I am so going to try this.

TMI warning - Also, not sure if this is normal or even a pregnancy thing but stinging down below. Any thoughts? Not a constant thing, not like thrush or urine infection but definately stinging of vagina/ inside. Not felt before, only had 2 episode so far this morning but I do feel maybe some movement of eugh gross sorry.about this but mucus/ discharge. Could this be beginning of plug loss?

Duesoon0202 · 22/08/2013 11:30

Hey sorry not been on here for few days . I had baby girl on sun night. Pains started at 7 on sun night and were coming every 8 mins by 8 they were comng every 3 mins got to hospital at half 8 I was 8 cm. no time for anything or any pain relief only gas snd air which I hate so didnt use . Little Hollie was born at 9.42 7lb 6. All very quick when I didn't think baby was on her way or had any feelings that I would be going into labour .
Hope everybody is well x

Gingerandlemon · 22/08/2013 11:48

Wow congrats, duesoon! What a lovely story, fingers crossed some more of us have such straightforward labours if they ever happen :)

PurpleDana · 22/08/2013 11:59

Sweep was very successful. Midwife found cervix very easily, everything is very low, she could easily insert one finger & could feel baby's head :-) She did a thorough sweep using part of 2nd finger too & said cervix seems very favourable. So fx things will start to happen!
I hope so cos she booked induction for next Friday evening, I really don't think I could wait that long! I will be 40+13 then! I thought I would feel relieved & as if the end is in sight coming home with an induction date, but next Friday seems soooo far away!!

Gerty1002 · 22/08/2013 15:48

Congratulations duesoon! Sounds like a lovely birth experience :).

islingtongirl · 22/08/2013 16:04

Congratulations duesoon! Really lovely news Smile

Purpledana- sounds good! Fingers crossed for you! I actually had a sweep today too at my 40 week appt - cervix still highish but 1cm and favourable enough to do the sweep so am a little hopeful - we will see!

Boosiehs · 22/08/2013 17:31

Congrats duesoon, that sounds brilliant!I really hope I have a quick labour too!!

Well I don't have PE, my blood pressure is actually 118/62!

Had bloods taken and urine tested, but the MW wasn't concerned at all!

Back home and having a nice kip on the sofa. :)

Gerty1002 · 22/08/2013 18:08

Great news boosie!

Baby has been doing some very painful movements this evening down on my cervix, reduced me to tears and crying out in pain for the past hour. Has anyone else had this? I now feel very tender and walking is painful!

Gingerandlemon · 22/08/2013 18:21

Yay boosie! Glad it turned out ok.

Gerty I've been getting that too the past couple of days. Seems to be worst for me in the evenings but I'm not sure why.

bigredbaboonsbottom · 22/08/2013 19:23

Congrats Due, sounds great way to go.

And thank goodness no PE Boosie :-)

Couldn't do a sweep, unfavourable cervix, too high, couldn't reach. Baby has turned back to back and has moved higher up than it was on Monday...

Booked in for induction and/or monitoring on Monday :-(

islingtongirl · 22/08/2013 19:28

Good news boosie :)

Getting slightly painful cramps now, seem more sporadic at the moment, surely cant be anything? Bump tight and pain is more lower down which I thought was more false labour? On my ball - cant get comfy on sofa.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/08/2013 19:30

Fab birth story duesoon, you lucky thing!

Boosiehs, that's great news, I think the weather the last few weeks has a lot to answer for with regards to swollen feet and ankles etc. Mine were enormous at one point, I struggled to get crocs on to do the school run!

Gerty/ginger I've had a lot of the cervix head butting from all three of my dc, it can be really painful can't it! You feel like they're going to break their own waters!

Just having a lie down and I've had about five or six very mild contractions in about 15-20 min (wasn't really paying attention til now) every couple of minutes, lasting a fair while, 45-60 seconds. Bit odd! please lead to something!

Bexmathews · 22/08/2013 22:17

Hi ladies, my little flower is 3 days old now and settling in lovely. Just wanted to say good luck to you all and wishing you all speedy and straight forward births. The traumatic memorys of my birth is still very fresh in my mind but every time I look at my little girl she melts my hurt and the memory fades a little

Big hugs to you all xxxxxxx

Boosiehs · 22/08/2013 22:43

Glad to hear that bex, it is all worth it!

I'm a bit confused. Yesterday GP said I was 3/5 engaged if not more. Today, MW has written free! Surely tht can't be right, my bump has dropped considerably, and I've been recording engaged 2 or3/5 for 4 weeks now. Also getting those very painful cervix head buts.

Meh. Really pissed off as I thought things might be on the way! To console myself I've booked a facial at a fancy beautician for tomorrow.

ZingWantsCake · 23/08/2013 00:23

congrats to all who have just had their babies! Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Haddock73 · 23/08/2013 06:18
