Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
islingtongirl · 21/08/2013 08:54

Congrats Louise! Well 39+4 today and nothing so far. More of my Nct ladies had news yesterday which got me momentarily depressed/impatient but trying to pull myself out of it - I'm not even overdue yet! In laws are arriving in Saturday which is slightly stressing me a bit as they are here for 2 weeks, basically waiting for the baby...nothing like a watched kettle/pain drying/uterus! Confused

How is everyone else this morning? Got midwife tomorrow who said she may do a sweep if favourable - was surprised she offered but the is technically my 40 week appt so I guess normal?

dexterpat · 21/08/2013 08:55

Abby81 just before my waters went with ds2 my stomach went all soft especially at the top - it was him dropping into my pelvis - I noticed it in the morning ( I was 41+6) - my waters went at 12.30 then contractions started and he was here by 4.26am - could be a good sign - good luck!!!! - I hope ds3 is as obliging!!!

Woodifer · 21/08/2013 08:55

40+4 here, braxton hicks in the night, tailed off now.

abby my baby is very much back to back (feet and limbs everywhere), as was my first.

You can check out spinning babies website for techniques to help your baby turn. Or it may be that OP is just the way your baby is meant to be.

I found this article reassuring.

midwifethinking.com/2010/08/13/in-celebration-of-the-op-baby/

I did end up with epidural with DD (had early urge to push mentioned in that article) episiotomy and ventouse - but established labour was only 6 hours! And I was only in hospital 1 night and had very speedy recovery.

Remember a perfectly positioned baby can turn OP in labour, and an OP baby can turn "right way round".

Boosiehs · 21/08/2013 08:57

Two hours of flipping being awake in the middle of the night. Grrrrrrd!!!!!!

Congrats Louise!

Hope some of you get things cracking on today. I'm 39+6 today. GP this afternoon. No sights of labour, despite baby jabbing my cervix with his head something chronic last evening. James, I feel exactly the same way. Want him out, but petrified of what will happen when it does come.

Mayanbob · 21/08/2013 09:20

louise congratulations!! Sounds amazingly positive and now I'm wanting to join you.

abby sounds like the baby has dropped! i am not an expert so sounds like things moving in the right direction.

Due date today- had lovely meal out with DH last night then spent the evening reminiscing about our times together and what differences our new arrival will bring.

islington good luck with in-laws. Whilst not staying with us thank goodness I have some visiting from abroad who go at the end of the month and keep going all 'any twinges? I didn't come all this way to see a big belly/ get on the port and lemon" which is beginning to stress me out somewhat. So I wish you the best of luck with yours.

Midwife at 10 so will see what she has to say.

Hope some of you have babies today!

abby81 · 21/08/2013 09:21

Oooooh thanks dexterpat and woodifer, not so panicked now! I have just started to have a bad period type pain again. Worse than the others but I'm not going to expect anything more today. Just had a lovely conversation with dad who told me he loved my mums pregnant belly and even sex was beautiful etc. Eugh really dad tmi! This was after I told him that dh spoke to bump this morning and said he wanted to meet his little boy/girl and get his wife back. He hasn't touched me /no sex since 5 months. Says it feels weird- I can kind of understand but ffs! Nothing like feeling untouchable! He can't even man up and take one for the team to try to start labour. Then again seeing as its been so long it would be more of a business transaction and I would hate that. Anyway sorry to ramble!

abby81 · 21/08/2013 09:23

Also sorry for the bad grammar of my posts. Typing in mobile whilst still in bed!

cakebaby · 21/08/2013 11:52

Aw Louise that sounds amazing, I hope I have an experience like yours! Any name yet?

abby maybe things are moving along for you? Fingers crossed!

woodifer mine is also b2b ish, but sideways too so not engaging properly, I'm doing the ball & hanging off sofa thing but i don't think it's done anything yet.

Islington we're due same date, I hope your outlaws give you some space.

I'm 40 and the HCP's have been hell bent on inducing me if I go over due to increased risk of stillbirth and I have an induction booked at 40+6. I've had a textbook pregnancy, good bmi, bp etc, however I am now completely OBSESSED with baby movements which is taking over these last few days and making me a stress head. Not going to encourage this baby out, is it?

Due sat, have a sweep booked then, but have had epic tummy issues all week, can't keep anything in so I'm loathed to let anyone near me at the moment! Sorry, totally TMI.

Officially fed up now.

MrsLianeB · 21/08/2013 12:50

well 41 today and seeing mw for 2nd sweep, really hoping this will kick something off and I'll be meeting my sweet, gorgeous demon, alien, lazy sod baby ASAP!

Back was in agony yesterday so couldn't get off to sleep until after 3ish and was then up at 6! managed to get another couple of hours this morning, Suppose its good practice for the baby but all I wanted to do this morning was go to sleep on my tummy!

Am still hoping to avoid induction which would be over the weekend so possibly a fun bank holiday for me. (sorry for the self pity)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/08/2013 17:23

Me too LianeB! 41 weeks and thinking at least it can't go on much longer! Baby is constantly on the move, there's loads of pressure down below, lots of cervix pain (tmi, I felt cervix and it was really super soft like squashy pursed lips, but couldn't quite reach to see if it was dilated at all) and sore lower backache. Just need some contractions now Hmm

Please universe, can I have a safe gentle natural birth tonight? Pain free if poss? (If you don't ask you don't get!) Grin

Bexmathews · 21/08/2013 18:02

Hi ladies, I have just returned from hospital went in on Sunday night! I have a beautiful baby girl 7 lb 10 oz. got to hospital was 4 cm, lovely start in pool and lively massages with oils from great midwives, got to 8 cm fairly easily after 4 ish hoursc:) - now is the point to lOOK AWAY!

Had waters broken at 8 cm and baby had pooped inside me -yuk! had to deliver at maternity ward not birthing centre. Got there and contractions needed to be sped up, so epidural given (god send ) . Over the 6 hours did not progress from 8 cm, and baby heart rate slowed. C section planned, went to theatre , was on operating table just about to have spinal block as epi worn off. Another emergency came through, I was taken back to ward to wait an hour till the theatre was free!!! During this time baby heart rate dropped again, finally got back to theatre where they failed to perform spinal block so was put under general anaesthetic and baby was delivered

This was not part of my birth plan!!! :D

She is defo worth it absolutely besotted by her xxxxxx good luck ladies mines was a rare one so odds are good , sending you all quick and healthy baby deliveries hope I haven't scarred anyone but thought I'd update xxxxx

islingtongirl · 21/08/2013 18:20

Congratulations Bex! Glad it all was ok in the end, sounds a bit of an ordeal going back and forth!

Hey cake baby - thanks, I hope the inlaws give me some space too...here is hoping...

Liane - hope things kick off for you soon!

abby81 · 21/08/2013 18:26

OMFG Bex! So glad u and beautiful baby are ok but wow, what a story! Relieved must not be the word to describe how you feel after feeling that healthy bundle in your arms. Congrats!

Made my very good friend take me on her daily dog walk to try and get things moving. No joy yet tho! Ho hum, I've resigned myself to the fact that nothing may happen until I see the mw next Tuesday. Then she can sweep me etc.

I don't suppose the answer is yes but can u do your own sweep style thing? I don't think I could actually reach mind you..... just random and probably very silly thoughts.

Good luck to those still waiting and have signs of impending cuddles with new bundles of joy!Smile

Snufflebabe · 21/08/2013 18:50

Just a quick message to say I had a baby girl on Tuesday morning! Woke up at 0130 feelings bit off, then contractions kicked in around 3 mins apart. Called inlaws to come your house as DD1 sleeping and got to hospital at 3am. Contractions intensified so I was glad to have gas and air. Was already 4cm by the time I got to hospital. Spent time in the hiring pool but spent last hour/2 hours on the bed in various positions.

DD2 born at 0655. No tears after a previous third degree tear so I was thrilled.

Got home at tea time yesterday.

Good luck to all those waiting. I had an induction booked for Thursday at 41+0 and baby wasn't engaged until I went into labour do I really didn't think I was going to go by myself.

Mayanbob · 21/08/2013 19:04

Bex and snuffle Congratulations!!!!

What a story Bex! But still lovely to hear about your beautiful baby.

Snuffle.... Thanks for giving hope that it can happen 'just like that' even though it's my first and I doubt it will

Gerty1002 · 21/08/2013 20:10

Congratulations bex and snuffle! Feeling very jealous!

DP has gone out to the pub tonight to watch football so perhaps baby will ruin his father's evening by heading for the exit ;). Think I might start the new Dan Brown book to keep myself occupied.

Gerty1002 · 21/08/2013 20:12

Also Abby please don't try anything like that yourself, leave it to the experts. You may do yourself some damage or cause yourself an infection.

Stick to eating pineapple, DTD, eating curry, taking walks and nipple stimulation. Do you have a birthing ball to bounce on, too?

cakebaby · 21/08/2013 20:17

Wow bex dramatic stuff, all with a happy ending though, well done!

Not forgetting snuffle too, aww, sounds amazing, enjoy your snuggles!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/08/2013 21:54

Congratulations bex and snuffle! Thanks for sharing your stories.

Abby you probably can do your own sweep (a bit like picking your own nose I guess? Less likely to hurt yourself?) but you'd have to be both brave and bendy! I'm only just brave enough to cautiously attempt to check dilation, not that I really know what I'm doing at all.

I've set up my birth pool tonight, even though naff all is happening. I'm going to will labour into existence! Well, sheer will and lots of unsexy sexing, most likely. Hmm Poor dp.

abby81 · 21/08/2013 21:55

Lol Girty, no fear I won't be trying a diy sweep. Blimey can u imagine. As soon as the thought was put into the ether I knew it was stupid! Sorry! Have just had a little bounce before bed. All that does really is make me need a poo (tmi sorry) so at least something gets shifted lower ha ha.

Anyway, congrats to all new mums. I am totes jealous! Well jeal etc. Speak to all those frustrated mums to be tomorrow no doubt! Night all x

Boosiehs · 21/08/2013 22:04

Congrats bex and snuffle!!

Well Dr thinks I have pre-eclampsia. Am off to the hospital tomorrow, so shall see if I make it home tomorrow or I get kept in. Meh.

Gerty1002 · 21/08/2013 22:04

Lol glad to hear it Abby

Well the plan to start my new book failed, two hours of crazy nesting cleaning occured instead! Was hoping that would bring something on, especially as we have two flights of stairs that I've been enthusiastically climbing, but no luck as yet.

Come onnnn babies!

Gerty1002 · 21/08/2013 22:05

Oh no boosies, poor you. Good luck at the hospital, fx it turns out to be a false alarm.

Boosiehs · 21/08/2013 22:18

Thanks Gerty. Fingers crossed it just means monitoring. I really don't want to be induced. :(

Gingerandlemon · 21/08/2013 22:27

Oh no boosie hope it turns out ok. I have had this exact scare this week (and soent several days thinking through exactly what it might mean!) and it turned out to be completely fine so hopefully will be the same for you. Turns out you can have mega swelling, iffy bp and protein in your wee and still not have preeclampsia so fingers crossed you get the same result.
