Congratulations little miss, what a lovely story to wake up to! Hope you're both doing well.

Lilpeas my DS1 was in intensive care for a week or so after he was born - we had to mix feed for a few days to keep him hydrated while my milk came in and the hospital provided all the formula. We were told we only needed to bring it if we definitely planned to bottle feed... You could pack a carton for peace of mind if you wanted to but I'm sure the hospital will provide if ness.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/08/2013 07:54

10lb 3oz! Wince! Well done littlemiss, what a fab birth story, give him a snuggle from us. x

Asda and boots sell a starter pack of 6 tiny pre made up bottles of aptamil which come with sterile teats, if you were in for a few days & seriously having trouble with bf you could always get your oh to buy one of those. m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/Aptamil-1-First-Milk-Liquid-Starter-Pack-from-Birth-Ready-to-Feed_1262721/#un_jtt_addtohome_hidden

Having ff in ready can make it more tempting to give in when bf is hard going - and it will be at first, so you have to be a bit bloody minded about it. I'm sure you'll be fine! Smile

LilPeasMama · 19/08/2013 08:00

Exactly james that is the reason why I don't really want to buy any.
I really want to give BF'ing a go and don't want to be tempted just because the packaging is smiling at me when I'm tired and sore.

Boosiehs · 19/08/2013 08:18

Morning all. Congratulations snow. But 10,3?!?!!!! Blimey you are one tough cookie!

Nothing for me except mamoth BH last night, across the top of my bump. Anyone else had that?.

cakebaby · 19/08/2013 08:35

little miss wow, congratulations! Thank you for sharing and enjoy your snuggles!

Nowt happening here.... 39+2

Acceptableinthe70s · 19/08/2013 09:03

Officially overdue now 40+1....I know he usual - bouncing on a birthing ball, walking, sex, pineapple, curry etc, what what else can I do? Really don't want to be 2 weeks over, am so uncomfortable as it is.

LouiseD29 · 19/08/2013 09:26

I don't know, acceptable, but if you find anything that works can you please let me know?

siezethenight · 19/08/2013 10:24

Good morning pregnant ladies.
Not pregnant myself but Dd is now 3 days overdue and is starting to drive everybody demented so if nobody has any objections, I will pop in and out of here as time passes this week and we all go slowly doolally?

We are all slightly terrified she will go Thursday which is younger Dd's results day and college enrollment. I will be utterly torn in two if that does happen as won't know which Dd to be with. Baby mammy or child genius (we hope!!) I feel slightly sick about it actually, irrationally possibly, because I don't want to let either one down and let them go through an important event without me... They both want me with them when they get results/have baby... Dd has a sweep Wednesday and we are thinking this might bring things on and then Thursday arrives and argh!

PurpleDana · 19/08/2013 10:27

Congrats little miss!
Very sore hips last night, not great timing as I've got some walking around the shopping centre to do today!
Acceptable we've tried all of that (except pineapple cos I'm allergic) and nothing is working. Dtd gives some pains & cramping, but that's prob more to do with the bumping & grinding than actually stimulating the cervix & contractions! Lol.
There is nipple stimulation, but I don't fancy rubbing my nipples for an hour at a time 3 times a day!
40 +3...

PurpleDana · 19/08/2013 10:28

Oops, sorry, 40 +2 not 3

Gerty1002 · 19/08/2013 11:46

I'm officially an emotional abd physical wreck.

Just sobbed my heart out as if the world was ending because I couldn't get an appointment for a deluxe pedicure today that my DP so kindly offered to pay for. I never usually indulge in that sort of thing, but as I can't reach to do it myself and my feet are so sore I thought it would be a lovely treat. As soon as I got off the phone I just broke down!

Really need to get some sleep and pull myself together as have a meal with DP's family tonight that they have organised specifically so we can go... wonderful.

Apologies for that very self-indulgent moan!

LouiseD29 · 19/08/2013 12:32

Oh Gerty - I empathise! I am feeling very run down and sorry for myself today as well. Hope you get some sleep today and can enjoy your dinner tonight.

MrsLianeB · 19/08/2013 13:42

littlemiss fab news Flowers 40+5 now and trying to eep positive induction a week today if nothing happens in the meanwhile so at least the end is in sight!

I have taken out my smaller babygrows and vest from my hospital bag as there is no way this baby is going to be less than 8lb by my reckoning so got up to 10lbs only I'd rather they be too big than too small!

acceptable I've tried them all and nothing!

Mayanbob · 19/08/2013 14:55

lilpeas Sorry- my brain is fried and I can't do simple maths. Or know what day it is, or know how pregnant I am. Confused

gerty I feel for you I really do. Hope you manage to get some sleep... I keep having arrangements with DHs family. I am a hairs breadth from throwing my pregnancy toys out of the pram and doing a 'no, I need to sleep, in the quiet, away from all of humanity' - I hope you get more enjoyment from yours.

Those of you who are already mums... with baby sizes, with newborn it says 7.5lb... is that 'up to' or 'from' or an average?
I am about to have a baby and have no idea what i'm doing

I've started watching box sets. Tis good. Smile

Gerty1002 · 19/08/2013 15:17

PurpleDana I find that just five minutes of nipple stimulation brings on a contraction or two, but they don't seem to continue on by themselves after that, so it's a bit pointless for me at the moment. I'd defo say give it a go though just in case it starts you off on something.

I managed to get a little sleep, though still feel rough. Prison Break will get me through the afternoon until DP gets home :).

Tonight's family thing is made worse by the fact DP's uncle doesn't want to know baby's gender... to me my LO is a he not an it, and I really struggle not to reveal it, especially when baby is obviously such a big topic of conversation. Definitely going to put my foot in it!

Snufflebabe · 19/08/2013 16:59

Mayanbob I found that all newborn clothes fitted DD when she was born and she was a chunker at 8lbs 12oz. They had space in them too. Tiny baby would have been too small though.

I would say that they put a weight on them but you can't really go with that - my DD was quite long, whereas other babies in the ward were shorter and fatter but weighed less, so have a good supply of newborn size and you should me fine.

0-3 months will be far too big at this point.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/08/2013 18:33

My dd was 11 days late and was a very petite 7lb exactly. She was a bit swamped in newborn clothes for the first week or two as she lost some of her birth weight so we had to buy a few bits in tiny baby size, they're all different!

Acceptableinthe70s · 19/08/2013 20:52

Ds wore 0-3 (no newborn) and so will this one. Yes it is it on them it they grow into (and out of!) clothes so quickly!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/08/2013 21:17

Feeling moody and down tonight, don't know if its hormones, or if that "means anything" labour wise. Had a few random bh's during day but really spaced out. Starting to get fed up now as can't really go anywhere or do anything (on my own with the kids) they're begging me to take them to the park etc but I can't lift them onto swings or help them if they need rescuing, plus it takes me ages to waddle anywhere now. Come out baby, as painlessly as you can manage please. Hmm

LouiseD29 · 20/08/2013 06:17

40+10 today. Off to the hospital first thing this morning for a second sweep and consultation about induction. Really not keen on induction so hopefully this gets things moving. Seriously - what is this baby DOING in there????

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 20/08/2013 08:04

Hello again! 39 weeks today. Not a rumble, nothing. Could be the full three weeks to wait. Have a MW appt on Friday - should I ask for a sweep? Really don't want to wait till 42 weeks again especially as this one feels like a whopper.

Gingerandlemon · 20/08/2013 08:24

39+1 for me today. Have seen the midwife the past two days in a row because I'm showing symptoms of preeclampsia. Waiting on blood results today. Big sigh.

Acceptableinthe70s · 20/08/2013 08:26

40+2 today, lots of BH but nothing else. Sweep booked tomorrow, hopefully I won't go too long over.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 20/08/2013 09:07

Oh no ginger, hope it doesn't turn out to be preeclampsia, best of luck!

Louise, you don't have to be induced if you don't want to, they can keep monitoring you, the baby and the placenta to check everything's working ok. I went in at 40+10 last pg and they put incredible pressure on to induce, basically implying that I didn't care about the baby (which would suggest that their ESTIMATED due date is an actual fact instead of an educated guess) I did let them do a sweep to see if that would help and with that and dtd I went into labour the next day. They can be a bit trigger happy with the induction drugs, imo.

Nothing happening here so we're off to toddler group. Gotta love the collective disappointed sigh I get when I've appeared there the last three weeks, despite telling everyone I always go overdue. I may even be there next week too, still with no baby! Hmm

bigredbaboonsbottom · 20/08/2013 09:14

Congrats little miss!

Didn't sleep at all on Sunday night and was bloody miserable yesterday.

Supposed to be having a sweep (40+7 yesterday), instead got bollocked (in a concerned way) for not eating or drinking enough. Apparently baby won't come if I don't have enough fuel onboard.

I just cried cos I felt so rubbish. Haven't even had any shows, contractions or anything. I'm just uncomfortable. Will this baby ever get here?
