Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissSnowShine · 18/08/2013 17:00

This is def it for me, midwife asked me to come in to get checked out (hospital only 10 mins away) - 4cm and effacing well. She thinks i have 6 or 7 hours max left but cos im close to hospital and coping (pretty!) well with tens machine she let me go back home and told me to come back about 7 or sooner if waters go.

I'll prob be back to update later on but if not good luck to everyone waiting, i know (41+2 today!) how frustrating it can be!!

Mayanbob · 18/08/2013 17:08

Eee! Good luck snowshine!!! Will be thinking of you and eagerly awaiting updates!!!

Gerty1002 · 18/08/2013 17:19

Good luck LittleMiss, about time one of us finally got there. Hope it all goes well :).

I'm just in a huff with my body now, so uncomfortable and exhausted. Parents go away tomorrow until Friday so I should be hoping baby stays put until they are back, but I am feeling far too selfish for that.

Gingerandlemon · 18/08/2013 18:25

Wooooo exciting times, littlemiss! Hope it all goes really well.

cakebaby · 18/08/2013 18:40

littlemiss How exciting! Sending positive squeezey vibes to you! Definitely getting a tens tomorrow!

Bexmathews · 18/08/2013 18:51

Ah lovely to hear little miss, good luck xxxxx

Have slept for most of the day today, amazing how much better I feel. :)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/08/2013 18:51

Best of luck littlemiss! Hope it all goes smoothly x

Toptack · 18/08/2013 19:22

May I join in please? I'm 38+4 with DC 2 and no symptoms at all at the mo :-( I'm feeling Mayan's pain on the horrible cold/chest infection front tho, so really hoping there's no action for a bit so I can try and shake it off.

In other news, I tried my Tens machine on my arm for the first time today and hated it... Please tell me it feels less irritating when you're actually having contractions?!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/08/2013 19:33

Welcome top tack, sorry you're feeling rough too! Do you perhaps have the tens on a bit too high? It should be a bit buzzy but not to the point where it's "nipping" at your skin - you'll feel/notice it a lot less during contractions, and in a way it can be good to have something to fiddle with. Press that boost button! Smile I'm not bothering with one this time as I prefer to use water to cope.

Toptack · 18/08/2013 20:29

I only had the tens set on 2, then my husband hit the boost button and I had to rip it off immediately... It somehow managed to make the roof of my mouth itch, if that makes sense! DH thought this was hilarious, obviously. I didn't use a tens last time, but had a really slow labour so thought I would try one this time for a bit of variety, iyswim.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/08/2013 21:09

Lol try it on your back next time, it probably isn't going to feel the same on your arm! And the boost is for the peak of strong contractions, not for when you aren't in pain Wink

Mayanbob · 18/08/2013 22:37

Hi Toptack I would second the try it on your back thing... I found it okay... a bit annoying but relatively nice.

Hope your cold clears up soon. I am not liking this... it's just teetering on the edge of being something. i'm hoping it teeters away rather than towards a cold.

Still I will sleep all this week.

LilPeasMama · 18/08/2013 22:39

Hi everyone, just marking my place.
39+5 Although no signs yet, so maybe longer Sad

toptack I tried my tens out last week also.
Placed pads on my back and turned it on to 1, I nearly hit the roof, DH laughed so hard, I was scared to turn it up to 2 Blush then to show his macho side he wanted a go and proceeded to turn it up to the highest level Shock

LilPeasMama · 18/08/2013 22:52

Oh forgot to ask....
I really want to try to breastfeed but on the list of things to take to the hospital it states a tub of formula, I don't really want to buy one but I have worried, what if I can't BF for whatever reason then I don't have any formula handy?
What has everyone else done?

Schmoochypoos · 19/08/2013 00:02

Hi everyone, I am 40 weeks today, no signs at all..... Hoping something will happen soon as I have got the fridge stocked nicely and don't want to eat it all before the arrival!

I bought a couple of the aptamil pre mixed formula cartons to have just incase, but I wasn't planning on taking them to the hospital....maybe i should?

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/08/2013 01:37

Well DS2 arrived at 9:49pm, 10lb3oz (!!!), just tens & gas and air lol Arrived back at hospital about half 7 at 6cm. On v short walk from carpark into maternity centre, contractions seemed to really step up a gear and i started feeling v warm and queasy all of a sudden.

I'd had an idea i might like to use birth pool and one was free so midwife brought me on round while DH got our stuff from the car. By the time he got back ten mins later I had to throw up, then started on the gas and air while midwife started running the water for the pool. It was nearly ready for me to get in and then waters broke all over the floor - still was wearing shoes & leggings Grin Merconium in waters tho so no pool for me in the end. Straight away started feeling like i push which caught me a bit unawares. So too late for any other pain meds. Just less than an hour later and there he was - pediatrician hadnt even had a chance to get her scrubs on!!

Needed a few stitches and i am pretty sore down below but he's absolutely gorgeous and me, DH and DS have the room to ourselves for the night do it's really peaceful & lovely.

Good luck anyone labouring or about to pop - hopefully it'll be quick & easy xx

SeriousStuff · 19/08/2013 02:48

Congratulations! I'm only 32+2 wks and struggling with my insomnia, hence the reason I'm on here - a really nice post to stay up to! Enjoy your first night with your baby.

LouiseD29 · 19/08/2013 03:03

Ahh, congratulations LittleMiss - that's really wonderful. Hope you get home soon with your new little bundle.

Am wide awake with period-type pains and back pain. Not coming in waves though, so trying not to get excited that anything's happening. 41+9 today. Morning SeriousStuff!

Mayanbob · 19/08/2013 03:04

Oh congrats snow fabulous news! And a room to yourselves too!

Sounds like he was just eager to get out in the end. Grin

pea are you due Wednesday? Me too! Dc1 here- how about you??

serious hope you get some sleep soon

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/08/2013 03:19

I know, we lucked out on the room! you usually only get one if you pay through the nose or have a particularly dramatic delivery but i think ward is slightly quieter than usual tonight and all the other ladies who are here have opted for more medically managed births (i.e. epidural, remifentanil etc) cos theres no one down here on my hippy dippy corridor at all Wink

41+9 eh? Hope those feelings are the beginning of something for you! I was supposed to be showing up at 7.45 (4.5 hours from now!) to be induced so you never know

LouiseD29 · 19/08/2013 03:21

Sorry - 40+9! Not quite so extreme - but still fed up waiting!

Gerty1002 · 19/08/2013 03:56

Oh congratulations LittleMiss! Lovely news to wake up to at this ridiculous hour :). Very impressed you got such a big bouncing baby out on gas and air!

Been very uncomfortable tonight as it feels like baby is trying to break out of my pelvis, hence the silly hour!

Hope you ladies get some sleep soon, myself included.

Mayanbob · 19/08/2013 05:39

I gave up sleeping. Still, 2 hours is perfectly adequate- right? Stupid thing is, I'll probably sleep all day now. It's just annoying because I cannot get anything done at night. except eating want baby to come so at least I can look at it in my sleepless times.
gerty hope your discomfort eases soon.

Anyone else's nipples really quite ouchy?

LilPeasMama · 19/08/2013 06:25

Morning all!
I am never normally up this early, even with aching hips I must be hungry

Congrats littlemiss Flowers

LilPeasMama · 19/08/2013 07:29

Mayan due Tues but Weds is good too, or any day this week would be fine Grin yes this will be dc1.

I seem to have promoted my DP to a DH in a previous post, I must have been in a good mood yesterday!

Schmoochy maybe it's best to take the milk along just incase, I will pick some of those pre-packed up today while I'm out.

I can't stop thinking about you're experience littlemiss
I'm so excited and looking forward to meeting my LO now!
