Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Gingerandlemon · 16/08/2013 18:00

Yes but a long time ago - I can only remember the bit with the hair gel that isn't!

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/08/2013 18:15

ginger - mmm who could resist us? I have a puffy face & feet, wonky pelvis and i exude eau de gaviscon #sexyandiknowit

Gingerandlemon · 16/08/2013 18:23

little this made me laugh. I'm also rather puffy and have lost all motivation to wash my hair as my midwife has said stay in bed as much as possible. There is also a suspiciously ketchup like stain on my top. #sohotrightnow

LouiseD29 · 16/08/2013 18:40

Congratulations Lola! Wonderful news.

ZingWantsCake · 16/08/2013 18:48

well ginger that's all you need

Ben Stiller is nervous about his date with Mary and on his friend's advice he has a wank, which will destress him. then he can be all nice an calm.

equally a good old full bliwn hysterical tantrum cry will achieve the same effect of being calm and stoic.
and when you are at the end of your tether from the stress and frustration of being overdue an emotional wank* can be highly beneficial.

What's more, as the stress hormones (that are counterproductive to starting labour off!) reduce dramatically some people go into labour soon after!

it happens. it's my theory anyway.
I might write a paper one day.Grin

bigredbaboonsbottom · 16/08/2013 18:55

Zing I think that's a brilliant theory and I can see it becoming a guideline!!

Have been out for tea with DP - I wonder if I'll ever go back to wanting anything other than a starter... just can't face a big meal. But my tomato, mozzarella and pesto stack was very tasty.

Gingerandlemon · 16/08/2013 19:00

Hahaha zing that's brilliant. Although perhaps not something I'll recommend to my clients! Grin

Amazingly, my husband has just suggested a bout of bun icing to help things along. Cute that he'd still be interested given the state of me but I can't help feeling a little disgruntled that I've put effort in with waxing, lingerie and even having a wash for all these years previously!

MsFiremanSam · 16/08/2013 19:08

Congratulations Lola! Grin

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/08/2013 20:25

The fuse on our electric shower appears to have bitten the dust this afternoon - now it's basically guaranteed I'll go into labour tonight and have to rock up to the hospital with unwashed hair or I'll have to get the immersion heater on and wait 20 mins to have a bath lol ahhh!!!

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 21:07

Congratulations Lola!

LittleMiss No, buns are still bare I'm afraid, but I did go to makro and buy enough fabric softener to drown a small country :).

Pains still on and off, feeling a little nauseous and generally off colour. Have now had THREE 'any news' texts! 38 weeks today and I haven't even hinted to them about these niggles! I know, I know, it's nice that they care...

Gingerandlemon · 16/08/2013 21:33

Gerty I feel your pain. My best friend texts me daily to check if I've had the baby yet. Like I wouldn't tell her! Fortunately she also says other lovely things so is easy to forgive :).

Boosiehs · 17/08/2013 01:42

Oh crap. Backache and stomach cramping. And quite a lot of pressure for no 2 too.

I can't have this baby now, DH is still immobile after his op yesterday. Fuck fuck fuck.

ZingWantsCake · 17/08/2013 02:17

Booshies

oh dear. have you called MW?

can you have a homebirth so your DH can be present?

not sure what to suggest.

Snuppeline · 17/08/2013 06:02

Hi all Smile
Loving the emotional wanking analogy (or advise)! I was certainly a little over emotional Wednesday evening when phoning my dp and berating him for something I couldn't find. It was hardly important at any rate but felt vital at the time. Anyway, I went to bed but woke up with what proved to be contractions at a quarter to five. I then got up and by 7 am knew "this was it". Quarter to 11 am I was in hospital and just after 3pm my beautiful baby daughter was born. It was a wonderful birth experience and I am so grateful for having has a swift and efficient birth as last one was so long.

To all first timers I would also add the advise given earlier, sorry can't remember who said it first, take each contraction as they come and remember that they perform a job by bringing you one step closer to your baby. First time I also found certain aspects unnerving and got scared which tensed me up. Being tense is not a good idea so make sure you ask midwife to keep you informed. This time I let my midwife know that I really needed the motivation of knowing where I was, circa, in the process. Just having her say "your moving along" was a real help.

Having some lovely newborn snuggles now - best thing in the world Smile

LouiseD29 · 17/08/2013 06:58

Congratulations Snupperline! So glad you had a good experience and you and your baby girl are doing well.

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2013 07:06

Any news boosieshs?

Congrats snupper!

Fabric softener might not be quite getting your buns iced gerty but at least your sheets and towels will be soft!

ginger - I deactivated FB a couple of weeks ago to try nd avoid 'have you had baby yet?' Messages... Everyone is just texting me these now instead Grin Annoying...but I'm sure I'd be fed up if everyone had forgotten me!

Had another crampy sort of night but didn't develop into anything sooo...41+1 today ShockShock

ZingWantsCake · 17/08/2013 08:47

littlemiss

Q: have you had baby yet?
A: oh yes, we had triplets a month ago! sorry, gotta run!

Grin
Boosiehs · 17/08/2013 09:22

Hurrah! No baby overnight. I think half of it is just my nerves.

Thanks all.

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2013 09:47

Zing - Yes I know, whoops it just slipped my mind Wink

Mayanbob · 17/08/2013 10:47

Boosie - you had me going there!

And congratulations Snuppeline

I too had a lot of pressure for number 2 yesterday unfortunately that's exactly what it was due to extreme constipation sorry totally TMI

Was informed by DMIL that she wants to be informed "the moment she [me] wets herself" Hmm

cakebaby · 17/08/2013 11:15

snuppeline wow sounds amazing, congratulations!

Nothing happening here, other than sore hips, shoulder, funny tum (still, 3 weeks now), headache, occasional shivers and under bump cramps. Oh and much ball bouncing, the inflatable kind that is.

I'm sooooo over this now.

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2013 12:00

Sooooo over this too!! Nothing happening here either, lots of pressure, plenty of cramping and a very little bit of show, over a week after I lost plug. Slow slow slow!

Bexmathews · 17/08/2013 12:05

Congratulations snuppeline, what a lovely experience for you :)

Well am 41+ 4 today. Have just had a big cry as was awake for night again with painful contraction coming every 10 minutes for the 4 th time in 5 days. Am so exhausted and upset that these are not progressing into anything , have slowed down to every 30 mins and less painful this morning. Hospital are not interested unless they get to every 5 minutes or waters break! The thought of this happening all day and night till Tuesday (induction) is frightening the shit out if me, I will have no energy for the real thing and am also scared to death that baby must be just as tired as me :(

Sorry for rant and self centred moaning :)

cakebaby · 17/08/2013 12:24

Aww bex you poorly thing. Try and keep positive and if poss get some rest. Is it me or does everything seem worse and amplified at night? If you can't rant and moan now, when can you? Fill your boots love! Have you a tens machine to help? I'm seriously I'm seriously considering renting a tesco one now for £30.

How about a nice warm bath then Brew and Cake. Here, have these too Flowers hope you feel better soon and have someone there with you

Gerty1002 · 17/08/2013 12:53

Congratulations snuppeline!

Sorry you're so fed up bex - I feel your pain. My contractions did get to five mins apart and the hosp still wouldn't entertain me as I wasn't in enough pain.

I have finally crashed after my two day energy spurt, feel utterly useless today. I would love a nice glass of red and a good cry right now!
