Good luck bex and gerty! If it slows down try nipple stimulation to get it going again (rub whole nipple area with fingers or palm of hand, not just twiddling) worked for me when labour slowed right down with second baby. Stop if it gets the contractions too fast/intense. Ooh, exciting! Smile

UnitedZingDom · 15/08/2013 21:37

good luck bex and gerty !

I'll put up another eviction note later.
Wink

Duesoon0202 · 15/08/2013 21:55

Ah good luck bex & gerty I'm very jealous ha.
But I had pains last night for a about half n hour then nothing and tonight my back is agony - don't know if it means anything or not don't want to get hopes up. But I've also no appetite no sure if thAt means anything (confused)
gerty I tried cleaning today today but don't think it done anything

Do you's think Dtd works ?

Duesoon0202 · 15/08/2013 22:02

littlemisssnowshine I'm the same was 2 wks early with first baby and now at 40 +1 i always thought I'd be early this time , think its worse having baby early first time .
But I'm the same the baby's head has been down and ready to go for weeks but nothing happening :( I'm getting sweep next tue so I'm hoping I go before then but I can't see that happening

MrsLianeB · 15/08/2013 22:08

Had some mild contractions earlier today but they've disappeared but did lose quite a bit of mucas (sorry tmi) too so staying positive. Had bad backache so stuck the tens on and got a lot of relief from it.

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/08/2013 22:10

duesoon - unfortunately dtd has done nothing for me!! But still worth a shot, you never know!! Sweep worked a treat for me with DS1 but have had 2 so far and apart from a few hours of cramping afterwards...nothing! Ah we'll get there eventually lol

cakebaby - DS1 was back o back and breech. Hanging off sofa and bouncing on ball got him out of breech at 34 weeks but he stayed back to back. Labour was llllonnnggg and sore but he was delivered naturally in the end. Good luck!

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 22:21

I think we have another false alarm :(.

For me DTD apparently brings on false labour... hardly seems worth it for the discomfort and disappointment! But then I guess it will probably help things along when my body is closer to being ready.

How frustrating :(

UnitedZingDom · 15/08/2013 22:28

duesoon

sweep and DTD combined worked for us 3 out of 3 times with DS3, DS5 and DD!

(DS1 & DS2 were induced, DS4 was ELSC)

welshbetty77 · 15/08/2013 23:18

Hello! Brand new on here but long time lurker... it seems that every inane pregnancy question I've had and googled has at one time been discussed on mumsnet! Anyway, I'm 39 weeks exactly today and have juuuuust started tipping over to the slightly fed up stage, feel that body is definitely 'getting ready' with the general aches pains and on/off periody type pains but seriously cannot believe how much the little 'un is still moving about in there! Either he/she's having a whale of a time or protesting about still being in there! Anyway, figured as I'm often up late/awake in middle of night these days I'd say hi! Good luck everyone...eek, isn't it so exciting!!!

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 06:40

Welcome to the fed up club welshbetty

I've had a grand total of two hours sleep, baby still burrowing around very low, contractions have regressed back to irregular braxton hicks and I've had some random sickness.

Very fed up now :( I really don't want four weeks of this!

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 06:42

Any news this morning bex?

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 08:25

Well JamesAnd I tried your advice re nipple stimulation this morning and it brought on a hellish cramp then a 'clear-out' (tmi) very soon after! Got in bath and tried it again and sure enough it brought on a contraction...Perhaps I should just keep doing it until baby's head is poking out haha :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/08/2013 08:35

Got a really spicy (and delicious!) takeaway from a Nepalese place last night - thought it hadn't done anything at all but then woke up at 4am with stomach cramps and had to run to loo (sorry sorry TMI!). Afterwards loads of BH and really bad back pain for half an hour and I was briefly excited Grin But then it all died down again and this morning...nothing!! 41 weeks today Confused

Duesoon0202 · 16/08/2013 08:35

gerty when u due
Wish something would work for me so fed up . Sometimes the baby feels very low then I feel a kick really high up and I just think get yourself further down :(

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 16/08/2013 08:35

I'm no expert but it helped me! I did mine in the bath too, before or after walking round the hospital for ages. A clear out sounds like a good sign!

Poor you, I remember days of this with my first baby (mon-thurs) it was incredibly frustrating and tiring. It will happen, all this contracting will be doing something, remember to eat and rest, it might turn into proper labour later. x

Duesoon0202 · 16/08/2013 08:38

littlemisssnowsunshihe
That's the same for me if I have things too spicy, too much pineapple or go for big walk I seem to get bad pains then it all goes away , getting sick of trying things just wish it would come . Have u had ur sweep yet

StartedAfresh · 16/08/2013 09:14

Was getting giddy last night - awful contraction like pains woke me up and felt very low down with a straining sensation towards my bum - thought something was happening - tried to sleep but they kept me up for about 2 hours - now nothing!! Bit of backache so hoping extra cleaning and walking about the house might do something - they felt very different to the BH I have been feeling recently!
What's the bet I will still be saying the exact same thing next week Smile

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 09:30

duesoon I'm not due until two weeks today officially but have always had a feeling baby would come early, and have never been convinced about my date as it has changed twice!

Bexmathews · 16/08/2013 10:03

Morning all, false alarm for me too :( , irregular pains all through the night again. Tried nipple thing whilst bouncing on ball, before retiring to bed . Each day is now like ground hog day :( husband sound asleep whilst I am moaning and groaning and deep breathing! Not sure what to do with myself day , worst case am being induced on Tuesday.

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/08/2013 12:01

duesoon - I've already had 2 sweeps done at 39 weeks and 39+5 - second time was a really thorough one and I had about 12 hours of really persistent back ache but I put on tens machine and it disappeared!!

Feeling really exhausted now - I've been pretty anaemic, SPD has been bad and I've been off work with a 2 year old to look after by myself for a month now. With every day that passes I feel like I have less energy to get through labour and first few sleepless weeks. wish he had arrived a fortnight ago!! Going to try and persuade DS to have a daytime nap so I can have one now too lol

LouiseD29 · 16/08/2013 12:22

Hello everyone, sorry to hear about all the false alarms - they are still a sign that something is happening, I guess. Hopefully they will step up a gear and get moving soon!

Nothing over here. 40+6. Sweep booked for tomorrow morning. Feeling pretty fed up Sad

ZingWantsCake · 16/08/2013 12:23

I started a new thread in AIBU to get the cake emoticon back.

I want cake!

I had to NC and I'm begging you to help!

(good luck contracting and all, Ill be back later...)

cakebaby · 16/08/2013 12:28

big red and littlemiss thank you for your advice, I'll get on with floor cleaning & TV watching on all fours!

bex and Gerty and others im patiently waiting, sending you all labour vibes! I'm sure it'll happen for you soon.

MW has booked me for a sweep on due date in 1 week, no other signs. Whatsoever. Yet.

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 12:29

Sorry to hear that bex

Still contracting away over here but not getting any stronger at all. Counting the hours til DP gets home so we can go for a walk, don't really want to go on one alone.

Not sure what to do with myself in the mean time as my house has been reverted back to its original 'show home' status due to last night's burst of nesting.

Gerty1002 · 16/08/2013 12:32

Also thanks for all the good wishes and labour vibes. I think I might go buy ingredients to bake - surely a box of cupcakes would go down a treat in delivery suite if that's where I end up today. And if not I'm sure I wont have any trouble eating them myself :)
