Afternoon all. Sorry to hear contractions are bad bex :( am sure you are coping really well and are not a wimp at all! Have you called l&d/midwife? I just got back from 38 week appt and going to see midwife again next week, when will be 39+5 and she said she may try a sweep - eek! How soon after did you feel contractions? would it be silly to still try and go to my prenatal pilates class that afternoon or should i just cancel now (need to 12 hours before)? Worrying about silly things!

UnitedZingDom · 15/08/2013 16:47

Cake is finally here!

Bexmathews · 15/08/2013 16:59

Mine started about 3 hours after sweep, midwife did say it was a good one! Had contractions right up till 4 am in morning, called hospital was told to take bath and call back if they continued. Contractions soon wore off , till 6 pm tuesday then went through it all again Tuesday night. Nothing Wednesday and then today have started again since about 3 ish. Hope it leads to something this time. Good luck with your sweep :)

islingtongirl · 15/08/2013 17:03

Hope it does Bex - fingers crossed for you here! Hopefully all these contractions are all doing something and when it starts for definite it will all be over quickly!

Mayanbob · 15/08/2013 17:07

fingers crossed bex!

Duesoon0202 · 15/08/2013 17:10

james yeah I was due yesterday I'm the same well not with the home birth couldn't do that so well done u :) but I just feel as though I'm shouting at my wee one constantly and I'm so tired :( luckily he starts nursery again next week but was hoping baby would be here by then . Just been down cleaning all the floors hoping that may have helped but feel totally fine

Duesoon0202 · 15/08/2013 17:13

bigred my mum is the same phones constantly asking how I'm feeling ill be turning phone off by sat at this rate :(

bigredbaboonsbottom · 15/08/2013 17:49

My mum's being good but DP's mum.... lives close by and is constantly checking up on me.

And my sister and eldest niece....constant messages!

I suppose that I should be grateful that people care, but when you feel like a flippin' walrus on the beach, I'm afraid my patience is wearing thin...

And I'm terrified of when the pain starts...

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 18:01

OK wise ladies, it seems I may have a repeat of Sunday night on my hands after DTD again with DP an hour ago... if this is yet another false alarm should I:

1: Stop DTD as it is clearly doing crazy things to my body and possibly tiring me out for the real thing

2: Keep DTD as it is doing positive things to my body, just slower than I hoped

3: Ring delivery suite and ask their advice

DP has to go to work in half an hour so I wish I could have a definite sign either way!

Bexmathews · 15/08/2013 18:18

Exciting! If it is a false one I'd ring and ask for advice :) good luck

UnitedZingDom · 15/08/2013 18:25

gerty

keep DTD! as long as the waters have not broken its safe.

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 19:06

Well I've sent DP off to work with the strict instructions to keep his phone handy!

Pains getting stronger, a bath helped a little but I got too hot and bothered so got out. Time to start counting!

LouiseD29 · 15/08/2013 19:23

Oooh, good luck Gerty!

Woodifer · 15/08/2013 19:24

ooh gerty hope this is it for you!

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/08/2013 19:56

I'm 40+6 with DS2 - DS1 arrived pretty much bang on time and this one seemed ready to go really early, head engaged at 37 weeks, cervix was 2cm and 60% 2 weeks ago, I lost plug a week ago. etc But...no baby!!! I know it's stupid and that every pg is different but having not been 'late' before I really, really didn't expect to be overdue this time. I think having a toddler to look after and really horrendous SPD which means I haven't been able to drive or walk very far for last 3 weeks has made it especially tricky. Confused

I've tried everything to try and get things moving - DTD (despite wonky pelvis!), bouncing energetically on birth ball, walking, spicy food, lunge exercises and i've had 2 sweeps done!!! But baby seems content to stay put so induction is provisionally booked for Monday. Keeping fx something happens tomorrow or over the weekend tho because I was really hoping for a nice, relatively calm delivery, maybe to use birth pool etc. and induction will be a v diff experience. But just trying not to go mad before then!!!

Good luck gerty - v jealous!!!

Duesoon0202 · 15/08/2013 20:08

bigred it is nice that folk care that much for us but as all my family live really close and in a really small village even when I go down street I get of locals aw ur still here I'm like yes !!! My patience wearing thin as well .

cakebaby · 15/08/2013 20:19

Hello, need some advice please..... had 38 wk appt today, baby is still back to back, head down but kind of twisted. Seems to be lying on his side, I feel most movement on my left, with waving hands in my groin. He's been likevthis

cakebaby · 15/08/2013 20:28

Whoops! Stupid tablet grrrrr.

He's been like this for weeks and shows no sign of shifting. I'm leaning forward and rocking side to side on my ball, MW reminded me about inversion today so had a look at spinning babies. Tried the technique hanging off sofa, just ended up with painful back, bump, shoulder, neck & elbows, feeling a bit sick!

Can't do the up and down stairs sideways thing (spiral stairs). I have an old coccyx injury which doesn't help either.

How am I supposed to be sleeping? I've been on my side with a complicated pillow set up, should I be on my right or left or does it not matter?

No signs of anything happening, he's not engaged, probably due to his position. Any ideas or tips?

38+5

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 20:55

Contractions are every 5 minutes, 1-1:30 mins long, but not painful enough to go in yet. Midwife said I sounded too calm for hospital haha, never mind!

Hope this goes somewhere! Debating whether to rest, bounce or start cleaning!

islingtongirl · 15/08/2013 21:01

Ooh gerty this is exciting - glad not too painful, you sound like you are coping well. Keep us updated!

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 21:02

LittleMissSnowshine I hope my baby isn't as stubborn as yours! And I hope you don't have to wait much longer!

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 21:03

Don't get too excited for me islingtongirl, I had 6.5 hours of this on Sunday then nothing until this evening! Think baby just likes playing tricks on me...

bigredbaboonsbottom · 15/08/2013 21:07

duesoon yeah, village scenario here to - my family are two hours away, but DP's all "round the corner" and with average age of the cul-de-sac about 120, nobody has anything better to do than curtain twitch! Keep smiling, makes them wonder what you've been up to!

cakebaby there was a lady in our antenatal classes who was back to back and the senior midwife lady advised her to bounce on her ball but to make sure that baby was awake when doing it, otherwise it was a waste of time. Wonder if it's the same for all exercises?

She also said that scrubbing the floor, or anything else that involved being on all fours was good.

I'd say that anyway you can get comfy and get some sleep must be the most important thing, but I stand to be corrected - I've slept on my right side all the way through, despite reading somewhere that left side is best.

Good luck Gerty, very exciting!

Bexmathews · 15/08/2013 21:09

:) gerty, mine are coming every 10 ish at the moment lasting for about a minute each. Really hope this is it this time :)

Good luck

Gerty1002 · 15/08/2013 21:26

Good luck to you too! Off to do some cleaning to distract myself and hopefully let gravity do its thing :)
