Floradix with iron or Solgar's gentle iron tablets are really good.

the ones prescribed by the gp was very high dose and made me very ill.

I'm loving the pooping action - you can't say you don't give a shitGrin

Lol zing!

Yeh my iron tablets give me an awful taste which makes me nauseous as my mouth tastes like metal. My feet are enormous and swollen thanks to the heat!

Feeling so nauseous right now. Don't know if its from the iron or heat. Feel awful and want to just collapse.
Yes been doing that all day with cold water. Feels nice when my feet are in it but the swelling hasn't gone down.

Ireebok what is your dosage of iron?
it can make you feel sick.

I took the recommened amount and felt unwell by the evening.
took my 3rd tablet the next morning and felt dizzy, sick, shaky and just ill.

it could of course just be the heat or another symptom for early labour, but if you think it's the iron tablet consult with a professional, please!

Does anyone know about a baby going from being fully engaged for 4 weeks to being just 3/5 palp now?

I understand it can happen (although it's rare) just surprised they didn't mention it in the appointment.

It was a newly qualified midwife who wrote it in my notes not my usual midwife who did the previous examinations (they were both in the appointment)

Reebok
I think it might be a sign of early labour like zing said as that's what ive felt like but dont want to get too excited.
Got a bit more energy so dtd might be on the menu tonight

cogito I think it is more likely that baby wasn't fully engaged....

with DD a student MW declared me 3-4cm dilated, but 2 hrs later the senior MW said I was only 2cms!

if it was 5/5 engaged - really don't know.

if 3/5 or 4/5 I imagine would be possible, but probably unlikely.

They definitely said fully engaged.
At 31 he was 4/5ths palp (so 1/5 engaged)
Then free at 34
Then 4/5 palp at 35
Then fully engaged at 37 fully engaged at 38 and now 3/5 palp (so only 2/5 engaged) at 40.

That's why I thought it may be a mistake. I didn't think it was normal to go from fully engaged in a first pregnancy.

Also the newly qualified midwife today didn't really seem to check in the way my normal midwife did previously.

I'm on 3 a day...I get this sort of metal taste in my mouth after taking it. Is that normal?

Probably just the heat making me nauseous. I suffered from hyperemesis for a long time and only came off the medication at 37 weeks so possible it's just being pregnant in the heat that is causing the nausea.

Is anyone else up with the birds these days? I quite like it - a couple of hours before the kids get up to drink tea and listen to the birds singing.. If I could be bothered to do any cleaning my house would be immaculate by now!

Hi Zulu i am up and cramping!

Hello all my fellow impatient crampers! Can I come and sit in the waiting room with you please?

Due on 22nd, been cramping on and off for over 2 weeks and keep having spells of contractions that start for a few hours then wander off somewhere else.

Dumb question from a first timer... does whole bump go hard during contractions or just part of it?

I get frequent pains low down that feel like a sort of cold pinch (not like stabby cervix) accompanied by low back ache and sometimes period type pains, but bump isn't always hard all over?

Other times I get solid bump followed by prolonged period pains. Are these both BH? [clueless emoticon]

Sending cooling thoughts!

lilbear

when your whole tummy goes rock hard (can take your breath away) but it isn't particularly painful - they are Braxton Hicks aka practice contractions.

when you have period type pains - that's the cervix cramping and dilating.

when you are in labour the peeiod pains will get stronger - I don't remember anything else!- but when you are ready to push the whole uterus will contract to push baby out.

( as you are in labour and waiting to be fully dilated I think the uterus is also contracting, but I honestly don't remember....)

raspberry leaf tea is an interesting thing.
it compensates for whatever state the uterus is in.
so if it's too lax it will firm it up, if it's too "tight" it will relax it.
at least that's what I've been told.

so you BH are probably just a sign that it is working for you.
