Marushka try iced raspberry leaf tea! I did this with my last summer baby too. Brew up a big jug in the morning and stick it in the fridge. It's actually not too disgusting!

Ooo its something that your waters have gone.
I wouls probably walk around the house and up and down stairs.

Reebok that pressure for me is at its worst when ive just got out of bed.

Zing I had 2 really painful back and tummy contractions then in between I fell asleep lol. I haven't slept properly for the last few nights and convinced myself I needed the rest.
I can feel the pain again.

Have been losing mucus with pinky red blood streaked in it
Hope something kicks off.

Well midwife appointment not great. She did sweep but cervix still closed so very unlikely anything will happen in next 48 hours.

I started bleeding straight away which surprised me. She warned me about bleeding but didn't realise it'd be so quick.

ZingWidge · 16/07/2013 14:39

yay for you choco!

not immediately, no.
it could be hours or days, but it is a step in the right direction!

I do advise DTD asap, it will speed things up.

and I suggest you try and keep your mind busy, let your body do its thing.
it will happen.

cogito don't be disappointed. Thanks

the sweep means they are streching the membranes and that little disturbance can cause hormonal changes thus starting off or accelerating the process of the cervix dilating.

I'm likeva broken record, but all I can say I DTD!Wink

and yes, bleeding straightaway is normal.
if you feel you are sore take some paracetamol or a hot(ish) bath.

ZingWidge · 16/07/2013 14:45

*all I can say IS DTD

This is quite painful isn't it? And it lasts for ages - contractions every 5 mins for 14 hrs. An exhausted and too tired for all that active labour I've been practicing ... Tens machine does nothing for me either ....

cor blimey girls.... backaches, lower period type pains... more pressure down below and I really can't need to go the loo again can I?

no sign of anything else yet....

may have to resort to pouncing on OH when he returns from shopping...!!

cogitosum · 16/07/2013 15:07

It's not sore actually I can't really feel anything different.

I may try dtd tonight it's just so hot!

Just to check I've just lost a lump. It's smallish but quite solid like a period clot. Is that normal?

Report
Isitme1 · 16/07/2013 15:40

Cogo I would ring triage and ask.
Mighy just be part of your plug.
Ive been bleeding in mucus since I had my sweep too but also had the show and want things to work.
Will try and dtd tonight!!

Hello all, just checking back in. Thought I'd started this morning. I woke up a couple of times and thought I'd wet myself a tiny bit (it's such a special time isn't it?) then was having lots of period pains and had a bit of a show. Then nothing! Have an upset stomach and I need the loo roughly every three and a half minutes. But other than that its all stopped! Boo!

Back to the waiting game! How are we all doing?

2of3 loose stools can also be a good sign.

in fact all the malarkey about pineapples, prunes and curries are connected with stimulating the bowels - that is what some people believe can also trigger labour.
who knows....

cogito
the lump could be the plug, but best to check with midwives.

Just got back from sweep. Everything looking good, she got her finger straight in (sorry if tmi) and had a very good sweep.

ds is now fully engaged, they could only feel his shoulders and she touched his head straight away.

Cervix is all thinned out and they said I could've lost my plug already given how thin it all is.

Excited!! Just hoping dull backache develops in to something more. Had primed DH to dtd but when I came home and said she felt head immediately I said I'd chickened out. Just come back from pedicure and the silly sod got on with things himself (ahem Blush)! So looks like I might need to let the sweep do its own thing without additional intervention!

Fingers crossed! Hope everyone else's twinges etc are leading to more. We need some babies...!

Zing I've been wanting to poop constantly (sorry tmi) for the past 2 weeks and for the past 4 days, I've been going at least 3 times a day.

Ooh lots of plugs being lost! How exciting!

cogitosum · 16/07/2013 17:09

Aargh! Just looked through notes and noticed that it says 3/5 palp whereas the last 2 appointments (so 4 weeks) he's been fully engaged. I wish I'd noticed at the time and asked about it as it was the student midwife who felt my stomach not my usual one and she didn't seem to check very much.

I thought it was quite rare for them to go from fully engaged to not???

Isitme1 · 16/07/2013 17:16

Cant move from the loo right now. Sorry tmi. Needed company lol.
Feel very period like and getting tightness.
Dont want to get too excited to be let down though.

Reebok that wanting to poo sensation is horrible.
I feel yuk atm.
I feel very tired but thats why they want to induce. Tiredness is 1 of the things of low iron. Midwife said its as low as when a woman has had their baby and ive still not had him!

How is everyone coping with all this excitedness

Ouch isitme! That's low. My iron was 10.2 so I've been put on iron tablets to push it up.

The pains sound promising! Will keep my fingers crossed for you! Oh crap back to the loo!

Do they check iron as standard as mine has never been checked as far as I know?

Report
Reebok · 16/07/2013 17:37

They checked mine whenever I had blood tests as I have a history of low iron. If you are feeling quite weak, I would ask them to check.
