Good luck Reebok
Nd everyone else x

shineypeacock · 01/08/2013 08:27

Still here, still at home, no labour pains as yet! A few niggles but nothing dramatic! Hoping it starts soon, would rather not have induction tomorrow am!

TomDaleysTrunks · 01/08/2013 08:51

Last 2 hours been having big painful twinges every 6-7 min, lasting about 30secs. Here's hoping its something and won't just fizzle out.

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 08:55

Tom maybe the crying helped!Wink

now listen to me no more crying till you can kiss your baby.
be strong. you can do this.
crying sucks out your energy.focus, breathe well and you'll be fine.
(epidural helpsWink )

eat something light and try to rest or have a nice hot bath

it's happening, good luck!Smile

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 09:08

peacock same advice.

also they will check you before deciding what to do, if you are between 2-3 cm you can ask them to break the waters instead of the hormone gel being administered (for the cervix)
or they might break the waters after the gel, but before hormone drip.

try to keep upright, let gravity help you. as baby's head puts pressure on the cervix it will also help with the dilating process.

if you feel your emotions building up, have a good cry - that will get rid of lot of stress hormones which would otherwise slow down the labouring process. (I swear this works)

Isitme1 · 01/08/2013 09:29

Ladies listen to mrs smarty pants as she is right!
The more you stress the less successful contractions and dilating process you have

TomDaleysTrunks · 01/08/2013 10:26

Things seem to be getting going. Painful contractions every 5-8 min lasting 40-50 secs. Just heading out for a walk.

lola1980 · 01/08/2013 10:26

I'm jumping in on this thread if that's ok! I'm due in 6 days but have been in slow labour for the last 5... Bloody frustrating! Everyone keeps telling me to enjoy the quiet and rest but my contractions only come on at night so I'm not feeling very rested! Hoping things turn up a gear really soon...

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 10:43

hi lola welcome! Smile

Tom yay! it's happening! so pleased for you!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 01/08/2013 10:43

I'm nowhere near due but rooting for you all and checking for updates! Goodcluck Tom and reebok! Grin

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 10:50

lola night time contractions are very typical.

have a nap in the day so you won't feel so tired. it won't stop you from sleeping at nighr if you can't get a good night's rest anyway!

whether heavily pg or with a newborn (or a teething toddler etc) my best advice is to "sleep when you can, coz you might not be able to sleep when you want"!!!

paracetamol might help to numb the pain enough so you can fall asleep.

1st baby?

lola1980 · 01/08/2013 13:08

Yep first baby. I'm well aware that it's normal to go overdue and have a long labour with first babies! Everyone loves telling me that! I'm actually still feeling ok and quite positive about it all, but I'm eager to meet her now and the heat is killing me... But she can't stay there forever eh Grin

dellabob · 01/08/2013 14:38

So I'm 40 + 15 today and still the bub won't evacuate!

Had a sweep today and progressed to 2cm dilated and some of the plug came away!!!

Still don't think anything will happen...possibly looking at Saturday for induction as we've tried everything we possibly can now :-(

Good luck everyone

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 14:43

della if plug is coming out may I suggest you do one last DTD?

you've tried everything and you are dilating - as long as waters have not broken sex is ok and the sperm should help further with the dilating process!

good luck and keep updating! Smile

dellabob · 01/08/2013 15:01

Zing - have it scheduled in for tonight :-)

The dilation has taken over a week to progress from 1 - 2cm but, flippin thorough sweep today so it shift something!

Monitoring again tomorrow!
Will keep you posted.

dellabob · 01/08/2013 15:01

might shift something!

MommyBird · 01/08/2013 15:30

Hi! Im jumping in too! :)

im 39+6. Had a sweep today at 9am, been getting period pain and loosing bits of my plug but nothing realy painful! Hoping it'll start soon :)

ReikiMummy · 01/08/2013 16:25

Little bit late, but Reiki-Baby appeared on the 20th July. Followed by short spell in hospital, but all ok and home.

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 16:35

reiki congratulations! Thanks
well done and thanks for updating.

I'm sorry, I was going to start a new thread and link it, but I think that might be odd given I'm not pg!

maybe someone else should...

dellae good plan!

mommybird welcome

ZingWidge · 01/08/2013 16:38

tom & reebok I'm pretty sure you are both in labour - or may have had baby already. either sending you good vibes

marushka how are you doing?

Airfryer · 01/08/2013 18:40

Went for a sweep today (am 40 + 1)

Midwife said I was still quite thick, 2cm long and posterior. I've got some clary sage oil, has anyone used this??

BeanoNoir · 01/08/2013 20:57

Hello, can I join you? Been lurking on this thread for a while but only 39+1 today. Does that qualify me yet? Waters broke with dd at 39+1 so I think I've been banking on it happening by now and as it hasn't I'm very annoyed tonight. Trying to stop thinking about it but it's impossible.

lola1980 · 01/08/2013 21:26

Tell me about it. I've just had a major cry and wailing session on my poor OH because I'm so uncomfortable! I'm hot and tired and sick of contractions that go nowhere and just generally sick to death of being pregnant. The realisation that there is no chocolate and the shop is closed was the final straw for me haha!

BeanoNoir · 01/08/2013 21:49

I hate bloody braxton hicks, never had any with dd and now getting loads in the evenings. Really annoying that they're kind of uncomfortable but nothing like the real thing. Also I keep knicker checking every time I go to the toilet as the bloody show was the first sign things were starting with dd. Feel really sorry for myself tonight.

Lola I think your due date is the same as mine (7th)?
