I've just done a test as I was late and there were definitely 2 pink lines!

I so was not expecting this and I can't tell DH as he's away until the weekend - I had to tell someone and I'm sorry I can't say who I am, it wouldn't be fair for thousands of others to know about this before he does, but I was bursting.

Only trouble is, I'm mean to to be going to see some friends in a few days (before I see dh to tell him) and they are going to notice if I'm not drinking wine with them.

Come to think of it, I have had a good bottle of wine over the last 3 days - will that have harmed the baby?

I am actually shaking now. How am I going to hold things together?

Congratulations!!!!
What great news!
Can you tell your mates you're not drinking because you are on antibiotics or something?
Don't worry about the wine you already had,we've all done stuff like that before we've known.
Last thing....BREATHE!Grin

lahdeedah · 31/05/2006 08:54

Congratulations!! Grin

can you say you're on antibiotics for something or other to explain not drinking?? your friends will probably suspect anyway, but at least you won;t be telling them before DH!!

Esmummy · 31/05/2006 08:55

Calm Down ! Stop panicking !

You wont have harmed the baby at all by drinking a bottle of wine over a few days. Before I knew i was pregnant with DD i was wrecked on shots of champagne and also spent a day upside down at a theme park.

You might have to consider telling DH over the telephone, if your friends are likely to realise something is up and you definitely want DH to be the first to know then you don't have alot of choice. Or you could go down the strong antibiotic route and say your not allowed to drink with them.

Main thing is CONGRATULATIONS Grin. Do you have children already ?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 31/05/2006 08:56

The wine thing will be fine, don't worry about that my Godchild was almost pickled in Whiskey and is here to tell the tale.

Why dont you tell your friends that you are recovering from a monstrous hangover and are steering clear of wine, and then over dinner "capitulate" and just have a small one.

You can then announce that you feel awful again, go for an early night.

indignatio · 31/05/2006 08:57

Come and join us on the due in Jan thread - or maybe you will be a feb girl - don't know your dates
I called dh in the states to tell him our news as I knew I would want to tell others and he obviously had to be first - woke the poor chap up after he had just got to sleep after 15 hours of travelling

sugarfree · 31/05/2006 08:59

Just remembered, before I knew about Ds2 I was drinking pints of lager, smoking and pogoing like a muppet in the mosh pit at a Levellers gig.
Couldn't work out why I kept bouncing out of my Wonderbra!Blush

Is Dh going to be pleased?

anorak · 31/05/2006 08:59

Perhaps you could be the driver when you meet your friends?

And congratulations from me too!

uptheduffandincognito · 31/05/2006 09:01

Thanks for your advice - will have to do the antibiotics thing - what would I need strong antibiotics for if I am to all intents and purposes heathly?

Actually, I haven't taken folic acid or anything either. I probably have some from my last pregnancy but they will be a few years old - does that matter?

Definitely can't tell dh over the phone - cost would be prohibitively expensive where he is - we are doing daily texts while he is away.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 31/05/2006 09:03

AB's for the lingering remains of a chest infection ??

Doesn't bother you during the day but at night you have trouble getting to sleep.

Come on girls, lets help her out.

sugarfree · 31/05/2006 09:03

A boil on your bum? Just tell them you don't want to go into it.
Or go for the hangover one.

QE · 31/05/2006 09:03

Congratulations! lol I love these threads.

Why isn't everyone jumping up and down trying to find out who the OP is??

Come on give us a clue? How old are you? How old are your other kids? Where do you live? Just a teensy weensy clue will do! Grin

Esmummy · 31/05/2006 09:04

Yeah i would go for Kidney infection or something, that way you've got an escuse to leave early if you feel knackered.

Not sure about the folic acid - you can get them from the chemist for like £1 though.

uptheduffandincognito · 31/05/2006 09:04

sugarfree - I went swimming at the weekend and could work out why I did a length and at the end of them my boobs were escaping - lol, now I know! Or it could just be that my boobs are too big for my swimming cossy anyway!

anorak - thankyou - I don't drive and we are staying there for a few days.

who's got big knockers then.. think there may be a whole thread with a big norks club.. investigate it!

schneebly · 31/05/2006 09:08

Congrats whoever you are!

Deffo go with the antibiotics line (worked for me!)- recovering from tonsilitis?

Dont worry about the wine you have had - one bottle over 3 days is not bad and it happens to so many people - not liklely to have made a difference at this point.

Wishing you all the best!

Smile
CaptainDippy · 31/05/2006 09:08

Congratulations!! Just tell your friends you are on anti-biotics for an infection and that is why you're not drinking - and the wine thing will be ok, I'm sure, I got seriously drunk just before I had a BFP with DD2!! Chill out and enjoy the euphoria!! Grin

AllieBongo · 31/05/2006 09:08
