By the way been meaning to ask, what is the deal with the laura ashley skirt? Not been around long enough to know

andadietcoke · 17/05/2013 21:33

shell and ibip I love Harrison.

Aoife I may be responsible for the Laura Ashley skirt thing - it was from the TTC thread - my first AF after my mc was horrendous - worse than the mc itself. Caught me completely unawares and I had to go and buy an entire change of bottom half clothes at lunchtime at work. I work in a little Cheshire town and Laura Ashley was my only option. Even in the sale it was £55 and it didn't even fit properly. bumpkitty is a bad influence and persuaded me to take it back, which I duly did. It became a bit of a euphemism for a heavy period - as in, 'it was a bit of a LA' or 'I nearly needed a trip to LA'. It would have been in last November so goes back a fair bit!

Aoifebelle · 17/05/2013 21:37

it's so obvious now you explain it. Could have been worse, could have been white stuff

BlackholesAndRevelations · 17/05/2013 21:46

I was wondering about the Laura Ashley skirt too! Thanks for that clarification! Eek though Anda- sounds horrible.

Ps today we are pregnant! Anyone else, erm, struggling to go to the toilet?! Blush

DIYandEatCake · 17/05/2013 21:55

baking has your OH said why he doesn't want to come to the scan? Mine didn't, but he had a bit of time off not long ago to take me to hospital appointments for the miscarriage (had to look after dd) so didn't want to push his luck with work. It's not just that though, he's being a bit of an arse at the moment too, he really isn't looking forward to the new baby at all. He is seeing the GP for stress at the moment though and I really should be more understanding, I'm just struggling to find the energy for both of us right now. I used to give him back rubs and stuff but havent for ages now. Think he needs a bit of tlc this weekend. Migraine finally on it's way out and managed to eat something so hopefully will be ok tomorrow.

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 17/05/2013 22:08

Ibip - my DS is a a Harry - we wanted to shorten to Hal, but he has become a Haz (Hazzle, HazBaz etc)
We have a Harris in the village, he has an older sister called Isla which I think is lovely too

I knew the story but not that it was you anda your famous GrinGrin. And if its the town I'm thinking of I got married near there Smile

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 17/05/2013 22:14

Diy - I am with you on the lack of energy (writing this in bed with eyes half shut)
blackholes - time for some Senna or Psyllium husks to get your guts moving. Your Mw will prescribe you something if you ask her. Constipation is vv normal now (such fun)

The Laura Ashley Skirt thread helped me through my MC soo much, remember reading through the whole thread (was close to the end) while curled up on the sofa. God that feels like ages ago.

Right off to bed, will keep you updated on scan, we have a birthday party at soft play afterwards so am not be until the afternoon (crappy phone)

Hi girls, sorry been AWOL for a couple of days and there's so much to catch up on.

Brill news on good scans and nt results yay!! Good luck tmro chocolate, remember the socks ;)

Sorry some of you are feeling poorly with bugs and migraines :( but yay to those vomiting and loving it!! (You know what I mean!)

Garden sorry to hear your face is acting up just like my bits are! I'm a spotty mess, have to carry concealer at all times, the two cold sores on my chin haven't helped with the confidence either :(

Anda I forgot it was you that had the LA skirt experience!! Feels like ages ago!! I actually walked past LA last weekend and had a wee chuckle to myself! They had a sale on too if you're interested!! Grin

I asked my boss to tell my other colleagues this morning, everyone gave me a big cheer and were lovely. Since then I actually feel way more positive about it all. They all know I'm pregnant so it must be happening!!

Happy weekend to you all, sorry haven't said hi to everyone, on phone and got stacks to catch up on :) xx

IBelieveInPink · 17/05/2013 23:47

Shell- I'm a bit like that with names. If we go with that, it will be very much known as Nate. But equally wouldn't go with a longer name I wasnt keen on. :)

Ah the Laura Ashley skirt. That feels like a long time ago! I still laugh (in a kind, ruefull kinda way) whenever I see it. Damned Laura Ashley and her expensive skirts.

Blackholes - my friend who is much further along than me has just recommended tonight, eat one dried apricot every day. I am going to go with 2, to kickstart things again!! Apparently same effect as prunes, but taste nicer :)

Janie- wow that must have been lovely doing that at work! I can't wait for that, in a way will be nice, everyone there will be lovely, it's just the management im scared of. And too scared to make it really public just yet - im useless!!

Mummytothearkbuilder · 18/05/2013 03:33

Hi ladies

So much to catch up on!!

chocolate good luck at your scan hun!!

diy glad the migraine is on its way out - hope it stays away!!

bakings bless you hun - is your DH normally quite good at attending appts with you etc. He may well be feeling scared about it but not communicating it well to you!! My DH has a lovely habit of being an arse over something (which is out of character as he is generally lovely) and it normally turns out he is worried about something - they aren't great at talking about things!!

pentagon we didn't hear DS heartbeat at 16 weeks - i don't think they even tried. Your midwife would not lie to you but I completely understand why you would be nervous.

We have been trying not to get too ahead of ourselves and talk about names but its so hard not too!! I don't think I love a name as much as DS's (Noah - you probably guessed from my username!!). I like Henry for a boy and DH likes Louie which is am warming too (most people don't like it though!). For a girl I have loved the name Amelia for years but it is everywhere now so not sure if we need a rethink on that (I really love it though!!) x

jmf294 · 18/05/2013 06:58

Chocolate- hope all goes well for your scan today.
Baking- have your told your husband you need his support and to come. Maybe he's trying to be positive and thinking you don't need his help.
Anda- thanks for sharing the Laura Ashley story- I felt so sad for you reading that.
Great results Bump.

The names business is so hard. I have a Ben and a Sophie.
I think this one is a boy - the other boys name on my list are Harry and William- but can't use William as my sister has one.
I wish I was cool enough to have an unusual name but I'm not!!

I haven't told work yet as I want to wait for my harmony / nt results first. But I am getting a tummy- more bloated than bump though sadly!!
Hope you all have a nice weekend- and no migraines and sickness all round.

GardenWorm · 18/05/2013 07:12

Just quickly as DD is stirring and about to scream 'Mummy' repeatedly if I don't get my arse out of bed (lie in, fab):
Choc Happy Scan Day sweetie, thinking of you today and sending lots of POSIFRICKINTIVITY Grin

BumpKitty · 18/05/2013 07:12

jmf Ben is my most favourite boy's name ever :)

Good luck chocolate and enjoy the soft play!

Aoifebelle · 18/05/2013 08:08

Morning all. Thinking about you chocolate xx.

Blackholes I put my oH on fibre patrol. I don't get too leave the house until I have a bowl of all bran (the new nice stuff, not the little brown sticks that make me gag) and a prune Activia). I have also been eating lots of greens and red meat to keep my iron up so I don't have to take supplements. Also I have a strong cup of coffee first thing and that seems to get things moving. I don't have any caffeine for the rest of the day. I am a tad paranoid about constipation.

Zeuxippe · 18/05/2013 08:21

Morning everyone! Hope everyone who has been feeling I'll feels better today.

Good luck choc for your scan today: keeping everything crossed for you x

Well after all the debate about when to tell work I had to come out to my line manager on Thursday when I asked to work from home on my nhs scan day (said i had a 'hospital appointment') and she refused!

Mummytothearkbuilder · 18/05/2013 08:22

blackholes I have the opposite problem at the moment - I am having a slight jippy tummy everyday - the midwife said its common but she also said conatipation is - apprantley anything goes in pregnancy!! I am also super windy - very attractive!! X

pumpkinsweetie · 18/05/2013 08:27

Goodluck with your scan today choc!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon, me on the other hand has woke up complete with sore throat, blocked nose & nausea. Great for the nauseaSmile, but not for the restConfused

Zeux- I thought it was a companies legal obligation for mums to be to be able to attend antenatal appointments ?

Loving some of the names being mentioned on here, not thought of any names yet but it's funny how I am programmed to think about them slightly anywaySmile

Zeuxippe · 18/05/2013 08:36

Hi pumpkin yes, that's why I had to tell them I was pregnant, because they wouldn't have let me work from home unless they were legally obliged to...

Pentagon · 18/05/2013 09:26

choc good luck with your scan today!

bump, great test results - you must be so relieved!

The LA skirt story rings a bell, I must have read it right after my last mmc - I didn't remember that anda and bump were involved though! :-)

baking you should talk to DH and tell him that his presence would mean a lot, I'm sure he won't refuse

thank you all for your support, I alternate between feeling silly and paranoid so will see...I may go for a scan or order a doppler or just wait and see!

DIYandEatCake · 18/05/2013 09:50

zeux your manager sounds awful - are you supposed to never need hospital appointments for anything?!
Good luck chocolate, hope it goes really well.
Migraine back today and feeling faint every time I stand up, but not throwing up so that's progress. Very happy it's weekend.

Zeuxippe · 18/05/2013 10:41

diy yes, I know! I mean imagine if you had cancer or something! Just want to get my maternity leave then get out of the dreadful place. Was unhappy to be forced into telling them early. Glad you're feeling a bit better today.

LuckySocks13 · 18/05/2013 15:12

Can't remember what time your scan is Chocolate bit thinking of you :) 13 weeks today :) keep gazing at my scan photo. In love with it! Loving all the names. Need some girls ones to balance it out! I'm still feeling sick! Anyone around the same stage still feeling it? Didn't experience this with DS at all. Happy weekend all ..

LuckySocks13 · 18/05/2013 15:25

Oh my goodness. My friend has just dropped of decorated chocolate cup cakes for my mums birthday. I really really want to eat one!

DIYandEatCake · 18/05/2013 15:55

Yum! How long til you can legitimately have one?!
