Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Phew lots of posts to catch up on today
Great to see you over on this thread Mummy to the Ark builder Flowers
Glad to hear your scan went well IBIP
My private scan in North East/North Yorkshire is £99, not much choice up here.

Can I ask a tummy size Q? I'm 8 weeks now and still don't have any kind of bump, I'm normally a size 12 and have been doing a lot of Pilates and core work over the last 6 months, so while I don't have rock hard abs, I do have some muscle. When should my tummy actually start to show with number 2?
Starting to slightly freak out that I have an MMC, boobs still big and sore, still getting sticky feeling but tummy flat as a pancake this morning

Am I just having a stress?

Bakingtins · 07/05/2013 19:03

chocolate you are just having a stress and I envy you your muscles

bod I'm sorry the scan has raised more questions. how long until you get the blood results? did they give you any kind of risk or not until you know bloods as well?

BumpKitty · 07/05/2013 20:24

choc you are deffo just having a stress, I'm on baby 2, I have never had any stomach muscles to speak of and I'm astonished I'm showing a small bump at 13 weeks, at 8 weeks I think it would be the exception to have a bump rather than standard.

ibip I'm delighted for you and very smug that I was right Grin I forgot to take my phone to work with me today and was desperate to know how you had got on - can you imagine, erm can I just borrow your phone to check on someone I've never met's scan results please :)

bod sorry you have had a worrying time. They said at my scan that they consider anything above 3mm high risk so you would be fine in my PCT! did you have the scan at your work hospital? (iyswim) and if so will you be able to get your blood results any quicker as you work there?

santa just to echo everyone else - you never can tell. Fx for you xx

I agree that the range of what we are and aren't offered is ridiculous, we wouldn't really know how random it is without a thread like this. I know I wasn't offered an NT scan with DD (2010) and now I am, not sure when it changed.

JanieLovesCake · 07/05/2013 20:27

sorry you didn't get the good experience you were hoping for bod. it must have it's positives and negatives being in the profession as well. fx for low risk bloods to come back. we don't have NT scans on the nhs here either (belfast). we had booked a private one but then decided to cancel as it was crazy money vs worry, although i am secretly thinking of rebooking again. it's such a difficult one.

aoife I'm hoping my DH will start talking more about the possibility of having a baby after our scan on saturday (i'll be just shy of 12 weeks). at the minute we're talking (rarely) about the 'if' we have a baby, it would be amazing to be able to talk about 'when' we have a baby. i think he's totally bricking it, i earn a bit more than him and we'll definitely feel the pinch. we have no savings and i'm trying to put money away (i managed £300 last month) but he can't seem to afford to save anything which is frightening. i think the money side of things is the main reason he's silent about it all.

mummy congratulations!! delighted you have come over to us! as you can see we are all still crazily nervous so you're in good hands!

choc don't fret yet, the only bump i seem to have is the food baby that's growing in there. i think it's quite normal to not show for ages yet.

sorry i'm probably missing lots of posts but speedily reading and typing

Bodicea · 07/05/2013 21:00

Hey guys sorry about my self pity party with lashings of grammatical errors.
I am gonna wait and see what bloods are like and try and forget about it till then. Going away so won't know till back. Anyone else would nt have even known about nt measurement we don't give them out as its a combined test but of course my collegue couldn't hide from me.

So forgetting about it. Hopefully keep tabs on post on my hols xxxxx

DIYandEatCake · 07/05/2013 21:32

Oh bod I'm sorry you're still left with worries, hope the blood test results put your mind at rest. I hope you can still enjoy your holiday. Was everything else good and normal?

choc I'm envying your tummy muscles too. I'm on dc2 as well, 9 weeks on thurs and looking decidedly podgy round the middle. With dd I still had a tummy like an ironing board at 10 weeks (have the pics to prove it!) but this time am hiding my flab under loose tops. Should have done some exercise too!

pink I know - when I joined this thread you were counting down to your first scan, it is weird how time seems to go fast for others but not ourselves. I am keeping busy though and feeling more positive and it's going quicker now than at the start.

andadietcoke · 07/05/2013 22:15

bod as I'm sure you'll know, and as everyone else has said; wait and see what the bloods say. Lots of ladies on my AN threads have had 'high' NT measurements but the combined risk has come back as low. Have a lovely holiday, and enjoy the break. I'm very jealous! Xx

Pentagon · 07/05/2013 22:49

ibip and bod congratulations on making it to 12 weeks! bod I'm sorry the scan wasn't as reassuring as you would have hoped. I know you're a sonographer so you're more knowledgeable than the average person and 2.4 isn't as low as it could be but it's not that high either.
I may be wrong but from what I've experienced bloods seem to be more important than the NT measurement (provided it's under the limit which is either 3 or 3.5mm? I've been told both) I'll briefly tell you what happened to me (at my hospital we are given the NT measurement in the scan report)

Pregnancy with DD (2010): NT measurement 1.8mm, I don't remember bloods but combined test result was 1:11000

This pregnancy:
FMC - Harmony test negative, NT measurement 1.6, combined test result (at my insistence, the doctor said there was no point in doing it it as the harmony was negative and the scan was very good but I was curious) 1:5700.
NHS scan the very next morning. NT measurement 2mm (how is this possible?!?! It can't have increased by 0.4mm in half a day) which freaked me out and needless to say, I prepared myself for a bad combined test result. I got the letter on Saturday... 1:100000! I was so shocked I wasn't even relieved. Compared blood results with FMC (taken at 10w) and it looks like 2 weeks later my free Beta-hCG was lower and PAPP-A higher which made all the difference. As you can see, I got my worst result with the lowest NT measurement out of the 3...Please try not to worry too much...have a lovely holiday!!

mummy congratulations and welcome!!

hi to everyone else!

Bodicea · 08/05/2013 07:15

Thanks pentagon. I know it's only one part of test. It's just when you spend your day looking at other Nuchals and they are all largely under 2 and yours is bigger it freaks you out a bit.

Pink congrats on you scan and welcome to mummy x

Anyway attempting to get ourselves sorted for holibob. Dh came down with cold last night and had been up all night blowing nose. Last two times we went away i was ill and one before that ( our honeymoon) we both got d and v. In fact the only time I ever appear to be ill is when I am on holiday. Beginning to think we are jinxed and should just stay at home!!

GardenWorm · 08/05/2013 07:23

Oh Boo Bod, bet you wish you were a lady of leisure so you didn't have the daily insight into tests etc? Hopefully the sunshine will clear up the cold and you'll be able to enjoy your hols. I'm just jealous of anyone going on holiday as we haven't been away for yonks!!!! Try and have a good one, at least time will go by quickly, it's always twice as quick on hols isn't it? Grin

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 08/05/2013 07:42

Have a lovely holiday Bod

JanieLovesCake · 08/05/2013 09:07

Hope you have a lovely holiday bod, and hope DH starts feeling better soon x

Yay for nausea Santa! Congrats!! GrinGrin

3 days 23 minutes until our scan. Come on time, go quicker!!!

IBelieveInPink · 08/05/2013 09:37

Santa - Yaaaay! I hope you are feeling crap and enjoying every second of it :) it is crazy how the most random things reassure us isn't it!

Janie - book something in for every day. Break it down into chunks, time will go quicker that way.

pumpkinsweetie · 08/05/2013 09:54

Have a wonderful holiday bod Smile
Happy sickness santa, i don't have the sickness but never really suffered with it with my healthy pregnancies so trying not to worry, i have the extreme booby jingling instead!

Gave in my pregnancy encounter form at gps this morning Grin, how i didn't laugh when i requested it i don't know!- suppose the receptionist asking "do you want to keep it, as we unfortunately have to know"- well of course i do, and how awful that a woman must reveal that at reception infront of a whole waiting room if they needed too Shock
I would think a woman contemplating the above should only have to confide in a doctor anyways, not a receptionist of all people!

JanieLovesCake · 08/05/2013 10:10

Lolling my face off a booby jingling!! Maybe that can be one of the dance moves of the band?! But what an inappropriate question to have to answer, bloody hell! Shock

shellshock7 · 08/05/2013 13:36

Sorry I've not been around, been ill Hmm Baby ok tho Smile

So sorry I missed your scan pink congrats Grin Am so pleased for you Smile

Sorry abt your NT measurement bod hopefully the bloods will bring any risk down. Enjoy your hols Smile

Will have a catch up of what's been goin on in the last week but hi to everyone else, hope all is well Smile

DIYandEatCake · 08/05/2013 15:20

Hi everyone! santa yay for nausea but shell sorry you've been ill.
Feeling dreadful myself today, can't stop being sick and don't know if it's normal pg sickness (never actually vomited with dd except with migraines) or a tummy bug (don't normally get those either). Those who have had vomiting, how did you feel and did it just last like a day and then stop in the evening? Not managed to keep anything down today and feeling dehydrated and shivery. Have 2yo to look after til 5 when dp's home and I can crawl into bed, counting down the minutes as she's bored and whinging as I've been so rubbish today.

IBelieveInPink · 08/05/2013 15:54

Thanks shell. Sorry you have been poorly, hope you are feeling better now?

For anyone who knows about nt/blood tests- I am in a bit of a worry now. As usual. DH has finally got excited (I think the fear has been holdin him back too) and has run around telling everyone before we have our results. Our nt result was 'normal' but I know this doesnt mean much. Does anyone know how long it is before we get results, or what the chances are of everything being okay? I don't want to google as will probably freak myself out even more!!

andadietcoke · 08/05/2013 15:57

ibip definitely don't google. Exactly the same thing happened to me - we got all caught up in the excited telling people thing and then remembered about the nt results. With my hospital if there's a problem they call you within a few days and ask you to go in with your partner for counselling. If everything is fine you get a letter in the post after two weeks telling you you're low risk.

Zeuxippe · 08/05/2013 16:28

Just on quickly and diy I saw your post. If I were you I would go to GP? I think I've read that if you're sick more than 4 times a day that could affect the baby so need to get checked out. It might be hyperemesis gravidarum? Hope you get it sorted x

shellshock7 · 08/05/2013 16:52

I second zeux and go see your GP diy that sounds extreme to me and it doesn't mean it's not MS just because you didn't have it with your DD...and if it's something else they may be able to treat it Smile

Getting there pink thanks, back to work tomorrow. I agree with anda google so won't help! Just gotta wait this out...it's been a week since my scan now so I'm hopeful it's low risk as I think I would have had phone call by now, think you will have to assume the same Smile
