Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

A few of us graduated from the IVF thread (link below) and are having a go at our own thread to get out of the other IVF-ers hair! So get your roomy jogging bottoms on for some virtual hand holding, mutual symptom spotting and staying sane until the next scan date.

sweetie oh yes, this baby brain thing is for real! I always was because it is just an emotional time, which takes up a lot of headspace, but am now starting to believe it is a bit more than that. I also became clumsier, dropping stuff, walking in to things.

GinSoaked · 08/05/2013 13:15

Hello all! I?m working from home today, which is bliss and makes the nausea much easier to manage! Hope you are all well today.

Re the preggo brain, tell me about it! I keep forgetting words/using the wrong ones. Grin at coffee on cornflakes sweetie

expat and didals hope you are surviving work. I?m starting to feel the tiredness now. Fell asleep in the Apprentice last night (although maybe that says more about the show?) V exciting about possible movement didals. I can?t wait to get to that stage. Btw didals your jeans sound ace. Are the maternity ones comfortable? I?ve not been able to wear any jeans since the bfp ? I find the waistband too uncomfortable, plus most of mine are skinny and just feel too tight. I love the sound of coloured maternity ones

sweetie it?s not really my boobage that?s grown, but rather my tummy! I can?t believe how big it is already and I?m only 8.5 weeks! I feel really paranoid that everyone can tell, but I?m sure they all just think I?m getting a bit porky. I thought with your first one, you weren?t meant to show until much later?!

Hi blonde. Welcome! I read your thread too ? that?s totally amazing!

shazz was your nhs scan today? Hope it goes/went ok. I think it?s a good idea to go along and meet the nhs team. Not long until your test results now. Hope you are doing ok. I still can?t believe how near to me you live. We will def have to have some souf London meet ups when we?re all on maternity leave.

I?ve still not heard anything from the hospital or MW. I?m sure this is normal, but would really like to get the 12 week scan date in the diary so I can start panicking. We have a holiday booked for the end of June, so would really like the scan to be a few weeks before we go, so we know where we are with anything. If they?re too late with it, we may have to spend yet more ££s and get a private one. Having spent so much on getting pregnant, we?d now like to spend as little as poss?.

keepitgoing · 08/05/2013 13:26

gin I'm nearly 11 weeks, and have a bit of a tummy but think its all air/fluid... As its much too high up to be the baby! Just wear floaty summer tops. I can't wait to have a real bump. I wouldn't worry re scan they have to have it done by 13+6, might just take a while to send it through. Chase in ten days?

dildals does movement get felt earlier with twins? Are they still the same size as a singleton at the same stage?

I don't think I've noticed baby brain here yet...

MrsHY1 · 08/05/2013 13:56

Hello
Sorry - I've been incommunicado and have missed loads! I'm going to do my best to catch up but in the meantime...

Congratulations blonde and welcome! I think we've chatted on another forum before. I think that's what they call the ultimate 'ironic' pregnancy!

Shaz I hope you're doing OK and the wait isn't driving you mental. How long now?

Foody BACK AWAY FROM THE PEE STICKS. Spend the money on chocolate instead. :). My first mw appt was with an assistant who took some basic information and sent me away with a copy of Emma's Diary, the NHS freebie book thingy. My first proper one is next Weds here at home - I found out yesterday I have got caseload care which means all antenatal care at home with the same midwife, who will also be the one attending your birth and delivering (if all goes to plan). Couldn't be happier with that, feel like I've won the lottery. As long as we get on, of course!

Sweetie, hurrah for the boobs but boo for the tiredness. I hope the fog lifts for you.

Dildals that does sound like baby movement to me!! How exciting! I'm also very envious of your amazing sounding rainbow jeans. I definitely have a paunch now (at only 10 wks!) but think it's probably mainly cheddar cheese.

Hi gin! Hope you hear about your MW & scan appts soon. I can totally understand wanting to know what's going on. I felt there was a huge lag between seeing the mw and getting the scan through, then another wait for the proper booking in appt, but in reality it was all done and dusted within three weeks.

Hi to Keep! Glad to hear I'm not the only one at this stage of pregnancy with a paunch!

Sorry if I've forgotten anybody. Still on a bit of a high as just got back from the clinic and at 10wks the baby (can I call it that now?) is looking super! It's measuing well and it's little arms and legs were waving and kicking away. Quite bizarre if you think that exactly three weeks ago it resembled a prawn. Now, apart from a daftly oversized head, it looks like a proper human!

I may now start to chill out a bit as my lack of symptoms has really been bugging me (and I realise to those of you suffering with constant nausea, tiredness etc this is going to sound smug and highly irritating) but as the most I've had is a vague moment when I felt a bit faint, and in the last five days a prickly heat rash which is covering most of my body (nice!), I'd started to convince myself it was going to be bad news. Oh, the boobs occasionally ache a bit at night but when housed in a bra they're fine. And I don't even know if the heat rash is connected with pregnancy at all.

I'm sure that from tomorrow I'll start retching over the loo bowl...

ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 14:01

It is sort of the baby Keep because it's the baby that's moved everything up...

Dildals, I can easily believe it's movement with two in there.

Baby brain - I just want to google pointless unhelpful things all day long. It takes me ages to get dressed because I keep on sitting on my bed staring into space. I was on a conf call earlier and must have said 'er' at least 50 times. Around this time in the afternoon I start dreaming about my duvet. I walk into things even when I know the likelihood of walking into them is strong. I almost cried the other night when dh brought home the wrong type of chicken breasts. I stop in mid sentence because I have no idea what I meant to say.

keepitgoing · 08/05/2013 14:09

Ooh brilliant!! Do you have your 12 week scan date yet?

ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 14:15

Lovely news MrsH! And great news about the MW. I imagine it makes quite a difference to peace of mind to have the same person all the time.

Shazza, looking forward to an update!

MrsHY1 · 08/05/2013 14:25

Thanks Expat! Baby brain does NOT sound like fun. Hope I manage to stave that off too.
Cheers Keep! Yes, it's Thurs 23 May when I will (all being well) be 12wks and 1 day. When's yours? x

keepitgoing · 08/05/2013 14:39

The 25th, I'll be 13+1, as I'm going away...

Shazzamattazzerly · 08/05/2013 14:56

Hello girls
V quick post while manager is away from desk to say all is well. Shazlett was perfectly behaved and very accommodating. The lovely dr said the baby was perfect . Just waiting for harmony on Friday.

More later. Lots to talk about. Coloured jeans, baby brain, MW. I'll catch up!

Have a good afternoon.

Shaz xx

MrsHY1 · 08/05/2013 15:02

Great news Shaz! Not long now until Friday when I'm sure all will be well. x

Dildals · 08/05/2013 15:19

ginsoaked The skinny 'Leigh' ones from Topshop are nice and soft and really comfy, good for smaller bumps. The Asos ones are not as skinny as Topshop, but lots of colours. On size of belly - I think it really varies per person how quick you show. Perhaps it's more fluid than baby at this stage, but in my case there was defo smth sticking out that normally wasn't there.

keep yes, same size as singletons. I think twins are felt earlier, simply because the housing arrangements are a bit cramped.

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 08/05/2013 15:24

foody have you booked an early scan in the end?

SweetieTime · 08/05/2013 15:42

Shazza great news on the scan and perfect Shazlett. Has it given you a positive vibe for Friday?

I can not believe some have escaped the baby brain. It is doing my head in as I can not seem to remember things for more than 2 mins. I am going to be a nightmare at work if it doesn't go soon, I am a project manager so it is my job to be organised and on the ball. ExpatAl I forgot about the words things but yes I do that too. Dildals I haven't noticed I am any more clumsy than normal but I am normally quite clumsy anyway. I will watch out for it, my Mum warned me she was very clumsy when pregnant too.

I will defo be checking out the coloured jeans when the time comes. I haven't ventured anywhere near mat clothes yet. I am hoping to put that off for sometime.

GinSoaked · 08/05/2013 16:52

keep my tummy is def fluid lard, as my bean must be about the size of a jelly bean! Guess there's lots of extra stuff, like super thick womb lining and the sac that create a bump?

Yay for a perfect mini baybee mrshy! That's such fab news and it sounds totally worth having had the scan for reassurance. Can I ask where you went and how much it cost? It's so odd not knowing if anythings progressing in there or not.

And shazz hurrah for another perfect baby! Such good news.

expat I cried at that ad for juice that has the kid and his dad in it! I was so embarrassed that I had to hide my sob under scoffing at the ad in front of mr gin Blush

didals topshop is my normal go to for jeans. I've got the high waisted ones, but don't like how they feel at the mo (and I look v fat in them!) Have been eying up the bright blue Asos ones, which I think you mentioned, but will hold off until the next scan. Don't wanna jinx things!

Gargh must do work. Have no concentration...

putthecrispsDOWN · 08/05/2013 17:45

Hi all...just checking in after being away. Can't believe how far on everyone is getting...at not quite 6wks yet I feel like I'm pretending to be pregnant. Keep convincing myself I have imagined it but the pee sticks say otherwise thankfully.

I also am now a fatty. Don't fit into any of my clothiers properly due to ivf bloat and baby belly and crisps but don't want to buy any maternity clothes so am stuck with looking slobby and chubby at work. Did buy some maternity leggings though as need to be comfortable at the weekend! Who's furthest along now then, is it Dildals?

Foodylicious · 08/05/2013 17:53

keep i have not booked scan yet, but going to I think, will be 7 weeks next wednesday (happy 6 weeks to me today!). think 7 weeks seems the earliest i can get it done and have chance of seeing little heartbeat?? Hope so.

On mw way for a swim today and as i am queing to turn off the road some T* is circling the car infront then lies down in the road infornt of me. I swerved round him, then drove back round and he had got up and was at a bus stop the other side of the road pacing around, did not look well, had on socks but no shoes. called police but then a car pulled up and he was speaking to someone (think he got in the car) for 5 minutes so I left then.
Just to point out that I am a MH nurse and I think previously I would have gone over to speak to him, but my instant thought was to protect myself and bump to be. There was something really impulsive and unpredictable about him that totally made me stay away. My heart was racing!
Really questioned myself afterwards as my usual thoughts are for someone else, but something about what he did made me really angry. think it was that he had full eye contact with me first before he lay down.
then had a swim and the most enourmous lunch with 2 hot chocolates and pudding (we were ther for 2 1/2 hrs) still feel a bit sick now.
Great news shazza and MrsH

ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 18:34

Foody I know exactly what you mean. I had a moment when normally I would have stepped in but the bump made me feel very vulnerable.

Shazza, brilliant news! A perfect baby eh? I have a feeling this thread is going to have lots of those.

Crisps, welcome back. Tanlee posted a while back and she'd be around 24/25 weeks I think. (tanlee, I hope you're okay). Then I'm just under 23 weeks, I think Dildals is 2 days ahead of Fairy at 15 weeks, Shazza 13 and I've lost touch a bit with the rest. Wouldn't it be fab to have a baby a week.

Can you add yourself to this:

Blondebaby I am not far in front of you at 6+1. My boob pain seems to come and go. I also had tummy cramps on and off for the first few weeks too which seem to have eased now too. I think it is very normal for things to come & go at this stage.

blonde and sweetie we are all close together I think. Over the weekend my ms comlpletely disappeared and I completely convinced myself (again) that I am imagining my pregnancy. Finding it really difficult to believe...I have a scan next week which I hope will help. Poor DH spends every evening saying 'you're being sick every day, you're going to be at 8pm, your boobs are killing you and you've done three million tests, you ARE pregnant' bless him.

Have added myself...my OCD wants me to put the list below into order of EDD but I don't want you all to know how weird I am!!

crisps I have my 7 week scan on Tuesday. what day is yours? I know what you mean about it not seeming real. I feel the same, it is slowly starting to sink in. Hopefully if all is ok at the scan then it might all become more real from then.

I thought I had already put the stats in edd order Blush Blush

putthecrispsDOWN · 08/05/2013 21:06

sweetie oooops was looking further up where they were out of order. Sorry! Blush. Should have out myself above blonde baby in that case then. Glad to know someone else has my tendencies though!

My 7 week scan is also on Tuesday... I'll only be 6+4 so hoping that isn't too early. I really want there to be something there, can't let myself be happy yet until I've seen the evidence!

Foodylicious · 08/05/2013 22:00

have updated my stats, feel free to put it in order crisps

wow sweetie and crisps thats 3 of us with scan on tuesday if i get the appt I want, waiting to see if they can fit me in.

Hello Ladies

Finally I get to sit down to catch up. My what a lot of chatterboxes you are today!

Dildals So exciting to have felt the babies. I think that the movement I've been feeling is definitely trapped wind. Sometimes not so trapped Thanks for the Pregnacare vits tip. I got 3 for 2 at Boots at the beginning. I know that the books say that we can stop folic acid now but I'm going to carry on with the Pregnacare. what say you all? It seems to be a good all round vitamin and the little one might need a boost. Good news about the MW in your camp. And she works at Kings. She will be invaluable. I'm very jealous of your collection of coloured jeans. I've hankered after a pair of lovely summery coloured jeans for ages but never had the cash to buy any. Now I have an excuse because I HAVE to have new jeans. I can't zip up my others.

Expat glad you have an active baby as well. I laughed at all your pregnancy brains. I had it really bad in the first couple of weeks but not too bad lately. The worse thing I did was I used a really fancy spreadsheet of a colleagues as a template for something that I had to do and I saved over it! oops. Luckily he was ok about it but he didn't know why I was being such an airhead. Its hilarious that you have been forgetting what you were saying mid sentence. and I love the coffee on the cereal Sweetie!

Gin I hope the sickness was better today. Lovely working from home. Do you find that your tummy is bloated all day or gets worse in the evening? By nighttime I'm huge but find that it has almost gone down by morning. I was also panicking about the MW not calling. I chased at about 9 weeks and she called me the next day with an appointment. The scan date had already come through by then though. Have you decided on the hospital yet? My postcode is SW16, if you are the same you might have the caseload care that I have. They are a small team that work in this area. I had my private scan/harmony test at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street. They are great and the scans are usually £100 but the nuchal with Harmony is £180 if you go between 10 and 11 weeks. Its £400 if you go after I think. It depends if you consider yourself to be high risk. I will be 43 when Shazlett arrives and I felt that for my peace of mind I needed the reassurance.

Hello Keep how is it going over in the sunshine? Are you going anywhere nice? Good to have the date for the scan in the diary. It is nerve wracking but reassuring.

Mrs H So exciting to have seen the baby. At 10 weeks there is abit more to see isn't there? And it must be a relief to see it waving and moving. No wonder you are on a high. I didn't have any symptoms either and was really fretting. If you haven't been sick now I don't think that it is likely that you will. we were lucky! Good news about the caseload care MW.

Sweetie, I also haven't bought any mat clothes yet. I'm going to invest in a pair of jeans (will check out Dildals recommendations) and then scour Ebay and charity shops for the rest. I'm not sure what size to get. do I get my usual size but maternity wear or should i assume that I will go up a size?

Crisps did you go on holiday? I hope you had a good time. I know what you mean about feeling like you are pretending! But once you start the scans and appointments and the bump starts you will realise that it is real. Bless your DP for being reassuring.

Foody 7 weeks sounds like a good time to go for a scan. It helps to see that there is something in there and see the heart fluttering away. Even though it looks like abit of a blob to be honest. I was just looking at all our scan pics, I've got quite a collection now, and I can hardly recognise anything in the first ones now but we were so thrilled to get them on the day. I'm sorry for your upsetting experience. I think that I would definitely have done the same. As a professional you know that it could have gone either way so you did the right thing. I hope you enjoyed your hot chocolates!

Blondebaby I didn't have hurty boobs so can't help with that one I'm afraid. Are you 2-3 weeks preggers or did your clearblue digi say 2-3 weeks (so you are 3-4)? How are you feeling today? has it sunk in abit more yet? did you get to speak to the clinic?

I hope that everyone else is ok today.

AFM as I said earlier the scan went well today. thanks for all your good wishes. I felt giddy with excitement when I left the hospital. (Dildals I thought of you cause my scan was next to the EPU!) I feel quietly confident for Friday as the Dr said today that unofficially she could tell us that the baby has a nasal bone and the stomach and nuchal looked normal. But she didn't take any official measurements as we opted out of the screening. She also said that the Harmony is brilliant and was fully supportive of us not have the screenings today and waiting until Friday. so that made me feel a whole lot better. I was worried that they would poopoo the Harmony test and tell me that I am silly to put my faith in it. she was super positive all the way through the scan and kept saying how perfect Shazlett was. I can't wait until Friday now so that we can get the results and hopefully be able to tell everyone. Although part of me wants to enjoy tomorrow as the last day of me and MrShaz having a little secret.

Well after that mammoth post, thats it from me for tonight. 'See' you all in the morning. Sleep well.

Shaz xx
