Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

A few of us graduated from the IVF thread (link below) and are having a go at our own thread to get out of the other IVF-ers hair! So get your roomy jogging bottoms on for some virtual hand holding, mutual symptom spotting and staying sane until the next scan date.

Blondebaby I was watching your thread. It's fantastic news - congratulations! It most definitely is real. There's no point in telling you not to fret as we're a thread full of fretters! Try to enjoy being preggers though. Or at least get your dp to bring you tea in bed Wink

blondebaby111 · 07/05/2013 13:19

Thankyou :) shazza, I was only 3 or 4 days into downregging. I have two clinics, one at hollyhouse for all my scans and I have the main part done in oxford. All they said was to see my doc which I did but it was way way early and he didn't really know what to do other than book me in for nxt week and told me to do a clear blue digi on my af date, plus he gave me a blood test form if I have any bleeding or spotting I have it to hand.

I should really ring the clinic back as I'm slightly concerned of damage to the baby from downregging or lacking in a hormaone but I don't think they were overly worried as it was so soon. Not sure they will see me either as I think I was already pregnant ( only just) when I started the downregging. Therefore little bubba was concieved naturally. Its still a blur tbh. Congrats on your miracle baby too! The only thing I did different this month is I had some reiki, mainly to relax me ready for ivf :) xx

MarianaTrench · 07/05/2013 13:45

Congratulations Blonde. I won't say don't worry as that's what we excel at!

Very interesting about magnesium. I'll research that. As I'm probably anaemic (my skin is all sallow) I'm taking Spatone liquid iron and it's great, gentle on the stomach. I recommend it if you're in need and it's on 3 for 2 in Boots at the moment.

SweetieTime · 07/05/2013 13:54

blondebaby what an amazing situation to find yourself in. pull up a chair and join us worry worts

Shazzamattazzerly · 07/05/2013 14:03

Hi blondebaby I had Hypno to relax me for treatment that month!

Don't worry about the down regging drugs. Some clinics don't like you to try in the month you start treatment but Guys said it was ok and they assured me it wouldn't harm the baby even though I'd taken it for 9 days. I had a scan at 7+6 with the ACU which was lucky I guess cause I would also have conceived before we started. Amazing isn't it! At least you will get a refund although we are still waiting for ours so don't hold your breath in the meantime!

As expat said we can't say don't worry cause you will, we all do but it does get easier once those delicate first weeks pass. I was in a right state by the first scan but when I saw the emby I felt reassured .

Could you call the clinic and see if they can help with an early scan? I know it can feel bewildering to suddenly be in this situation, albeit a happy one, after preparing yourself for treatment. Hopefully they will be able to support the transition? Also I asked to see the clinic counsellor. That might help you.

Shazzamattazzerly · 07/05/2013 14:14

Oh one other thing and I know that this is the hardest thing but try not to google! I drove myself into a frenzy AND I ran up a huge bill on my mobile after googling on the bus home for hours everyday.

blondebaby111 · 07/05/2013 14:37

Thanks again everyone :). Shazza, thanx for all the info, we were lucky enough to be funded by the nhs for this round, I still have the drugs in my fridge too so I guess they will have to be sent back or disposed of. I'm trying not to google, I'm just sticking to mumsnet xx

Foodylicious · 07/05/2013 16:08

Welcome blonde!! glad to see you have made it over here!
congratulations again, and feel free to air all your worries and slight madnesses here ( I do!).
Was feeling a bit pants today so have POAS (AGAIN) and seeing that extra pink line just cheers me up. Thats 3 sticks in last week, 10ish all together!
Oh and been out and bought some crop-top bras in M&S to wear in bed, was more comfy but too hot in sports bra last night.
iron suspension mariana! you are brave, that stuff is foul!
been to see travel vaccine nurse today and no vaccines or pills for me!
got first MW appt next Tuesday, is it a good/nice appt or is it boring routine stuff. Hoping to book an early scan for next week too, but don't want to book too early.
Hope you are all still enjoying the weather Grin, put a few bedding plants out today whick was nice. back to the essay..............

blondebaby111 · 07/05/2013 18:15

hello again foody :) i haven't bought any bedding plants yet but when i do i'm gonna have to plant them when dp is at work...he's moaning already about me bending, breathing anything you name it. Its driving me insane already!!! how far along are u?? I'm still not feeling anything yet other than my boobs seem huge, i put a summer top on that i wore last year this morning and it looked horrendous like i'd had a boob job over night Shock

Dildals · 07/05/2013 18:21

foody the booking appt is not that exciting I am afraid. You have to deliver a pee sample. (which, at my MW they had this cunning device with a funnel. So I thought 'oh that's handy', although I had become quite good at peeing in a little container lately, if I do say so myself. Promptly I f##k up the funnel thing, over-wee it, and spill half of it over my trousers. Try walking out of that toilet, back in to the waiting room, with damp patches on your jeans, trying to make it look like it was enthusiastic handwashing!) They weigh you and measure you. Bit of blood. After that it is twenty questions. You get your notes & and a pack of promo material (discounts for baby cream etc) & sent on your merry way! Careful of those funnel contraptions though.

Dildals · 07/05/2013 18:22

Oh God I am loving the boobs - they're awesome eh. I said the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago, overnight boob job. And they are only going to get bigger!

OP posts:
ExpatAl · 07/05/2013 18:47

It's sad but I love doing the pee tests. There's a little hatch in the loo right next to the toilet which you open to put the test in with a gloved woman waiting the other side. Little things and all that..

SweetieTime · 07/05/2013 20:23

I have noticed my boobs seem to have grown over the weekend. They also seem firmer if that makes sense. Bizarre I know.

I have felt reasonably normal today but in the last hour have had a meltdown as just feel sooooo tired, like someone has taken my batteries out. I had gone to do some food shopping to get us over the next few days and was overcome with extreme tiredness. I really could have left my trolley and come home. When I got home I ended up in tears as I couldn't find homes for everything I had bought. Poor DH quickly mopped my tears and made space in one of the cupboards. Bless him.

Tomorrow will be less than a week until my scan, I will be counting down the days. I suppose these symptoms are a good sign. Foody I POAS this weekend too, just gives me a perk knowing it is true.

Shazzamattazzerly · 07/05/2013 20:28

Dildals I didn't get discount vouchers! Although mustn't complain cause i have a very nice MW.

The wee funnel sounds hilarious. Good job you didn't have your pink jeans on Wink

They have a little door like that at Guys ACU expat except there was no woman on the other side. I did think it was rather nifty though. Saves carrying your sample through the waiting room wrapped in reams of loo roll which is what I usually do.

My booking appt went on for hours and they came to my house as well so I had to give them a cup of tea!

Shazzamattazzerly · 07/05/2013 20:29

Oh sweetie thank goodness for DP. It's hard but the best thing to do is sleep when you need to. Exciting that it is nearly your scan.

Dildals · 07/05/2013 21:44

You didn't get a bounty packet? Maybe it was something temporary.

What's all this with hatches? Both at Guy's as well as at the MW I had to take my pee out in to the waiting room! I feel short changed! ;-)

shazza I was actually wearing my pink jeans, just not the maternity pink jeans! Today I am wearing my ORANGE maternity jeans, how awesome is that. It works actually. The girl that gifted them to me had bought, bic pen cap blue, orange, pink and maroon. Brilliant. (They're all from Asos, maroon one is from M&S)

OP posts:
ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 08:59

You should feel short changed Dildals. Is there a complaint form?
I see I was pretty effusive about the hatch last night. Not sure where that came from. It was moderately entertaining the first time I did it. Would hate peeps to get pregnant just to use the hatch! ;-)

keepitgoing · 08/05/2013 09:48

There's a hatch in the wank room in our clinic... Imagine standing the other side of that! Grin

ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 09:58

That's pretty evolved Keep. There was no wank room in our clinic. I remember once going to the clinic with dh's contribution held in my cleavage to keep it at temperature.

Dildals · 08/05/2013 10:06

I am so tired today! I woke up at stupid o'clock, not even needing a wee, then of course couldn't get back to sleep until about an hr before the alarm went, so you get woken up from that deep sleep bit. Then I forgot to take my vitamins, brush my teeth and take my fruit ... it's not a good day, world domination will have to wait.

I think I felt something in my tummy today. When lying flat on my back (I think the skin is bit more taut that way, making it easier to feel) I felt something pushing against my skin/muscles from the inside, then it went away again, and it repeated it for a bit, then it moved on to below my belly button. Babies? Or trapped wind? I am 17 weeks now, so it could be babies. But it could also be trapped wind. Anyway.

Top tip for today. In case you are using pregnacare vits, they are lots cheaper if you buy them off amazon (they're quite dear at Boots and the likes).
Top tip no 2. I found out yesterday that goats cheese, cooked, on a pizza is OK. Lifesaver. I love goat's cheese.

Other exciting bit of news. My colleague has been so smart to marry a MW who works at the King's labour ward, and she's happy to meet up with me for a coffee and give me her views/opinions/answer questions on twin births. So nice of her!

Now I am going to sleep on my keyboard. Have a good day ladies!

Foodylicious · 08/05/2013 10:26

Oh yeah all pasturised soft cheeses cant be eaten cooked/baked!

ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 10:32

Yes, love bruschetta with grilled goats cheese with semi dried tomatoes on top. Yum. Also grilled brie on bread with fried onions and teeny bit garlic is outrageously calorific but lovely.

ExpatAl · 08/05/2013 10:47

I'm bored and hungry. I want to leave the office early but have procrastinated so much it probably won't happen. Baby is very active which is nice though.

SweetieTime · 08/05/2013 11:47

Dildals I have had a nightmare ever since I got my bfp with forgetting things. First day at work forgot purse, lunch, mobile. Since then I forget the way to places I go regularly. I seen to pay less attention or am just more distracted. The number of drivers that have hooted cos I am sat at a green light Blush It must be the hormones. I even put coffee in my cereal bowl this morning. I am hoping things might improve soonHmm
