A place to carry on chatting after a BFP and support each other through the stressful bits. I hope to see many new graduates appearing....

Vocalista86 · 16/04/2013 12:49

Janie, so glad to hear your good news,Thanks it's given me hope for my scan tomorrow too. It will either show a) healthy little one, b) pie c) MMC. Those are the only possible outcomes.

Counting down the hours until 9am!!

Zeuxippe · 16/04/2013 13:10

Good luck vocalista!!

BumpKitty · 16/04/2013 13:31

vocalista I vote option A :) x

IBelieveInPink · 16/04/2013 13:40

Me too, I pick A! Good luck vocal.

Bump- really really? I am going insane! I have already run to the bathrooms 3 times today knicker checking as I am convinced it is going wrong! Dr google tells me that once you hve seen a heartbeat at 8 weeks, it is 98% likely to be okay all the way. So why do I hear of so many going wrong after this?! I think once I have a 12 week (ish) scan date, I will feel better, something to work towards. Then again, probably not....

JanieLovesCake · 16/04/2013 13:49

Thank you everyone! I'm still in shock, but good shock!

Excited for you tmro vocalista, I go for option a as a wee Smile I suggest wearing your lucky socks, that's what I did and I'm certain it made a difference Smile

JanieLovesCake · 16/04/2013 13:51

Bump I also thought 14 wks was far away, but as they thought I was 10wks going on lmp, this was my 10-12 wk scan in their eyes. I wonder if I could go for a private one in between cos I'm mad like that!

andadietcoke · 16/04/2013 14:05

ibip because people are much less likely to go on the Internet and say 'oh my pregnancy was perfect, I skipped through fields with a gentle breeze in my hair and had a sneeze baby'. Instead they go and share, either because they want other people to benefit, or because they just want to talk. That's why you keep hearing about them. 98% sounds about right.

Janie yay! Brilliant news. I had an EPU scan at 7.5w and a 12w scan at 13w. Had a private one at 10.5w which was about my limit for neuroticism!

Vocalista86 · 16/04/2013 14:18

Lucky socks - good idea Janie, perhaps lucky pants and luck earings too?

ibip always wondered the same...

anda So we have our first scan tomorrow (I may have mentioned it Grin, 7w4 days, but we'd already booked a private scan for 9w6d which my DH said 'oh remember to cancel the other scan' but yet, I haven't. In the back of my mind I know, if everything is well tomorrow, I will still want it!

JanieLovesCake · 16/04/2013 14:19

aaah anda thanks - that makes me feel less of a mental case!! i'm very pleased about the 98% figure...still convinced i'll be in that 2% though!!!

aoife it was pretty fuzzy t be honest...really have no idea what i was looking at but then my neck was bent at a strange angle - DH said he could see perfectly though :)

GaryBuseysTeeth · 16/04/2013 14:47

I had my 12wk scan at 13+6, they could still do the NT measurement.

Vocalista, option A with an extra baby Wink at least you'll have something else to stress about that way (I don't think I'd be very good at mothering newborn twins). Good luck!!

We should be going for a late-ish scan (not a 4d one, don't like them!) privately....had to have a scan at 35wks with DS, so I want one then to make sure this baby doesn't have the same problem he had (irregular heartbeat, which didn't develop until 35wks & cleared up after birth like most of them do).

andadietcoke · 16/04/2013 15:25

vocalista allaying my fears aside, it was a very good experience - they talked through everything they saw including blood flow in the cord and heart - something that I haven't had at any of my nhs scans. It didn't feel rushed and she spent ages explaining everything. DH even said after the first NHS one how much better it was and it was worth the money. You can always cancel it the day of the scan if you need to.

Pentagon · 16/04/2013 17:09

jbrd, squiz, lucky, thinking of you - fingers crossed everything goes well for all of you!

janie congratulations, wonderful news!! Will your next scan be an NT one? If yes, I think it can be done from 11w until 13w 6d so 14w+ may be a bit late but then again, I may be wrong...

vocalista good luck tomorrow!!

ibip and bump, I'm exactly the same - I managed to remain calm for 3-4 days after my scan and now I'm back to freaking out again...

Bodicea · 16/04/2013 17:59

Hi just reading back as been off the grid a bit.

janie congrats on scan. Pentagon is right. You can't have nt after 13 weeks 6 and also after 13 and a half it gets more difficult and more likely to fail. Depends on if you are planning to have an nt anyway. Many people don't but something to think about. Surprised they didn't say that to you - do they offer them at our hospital?

Sorry for all the tough times people are having. There is nothing worse that waitng to see if its bad news. Hope you are all keeping busy and getting lots of TLC. Impressed with the bread baking jbird. Most I can manage is banana cake or ginger cake. Must get more inventive.

Good luck tommorow vocalista x

Scanned an annoying teenager today who winged when I told her the sex And spent the rest of the scan texting her mates. When I asked her to turn over so i could see the heart better she look annoyed that I had interrupted her mid text. Seriously what is happening to our society? Rant over!

JanieLovesCake · 16/04/2013 19:07

Thanks bod and pentagon...I better give them a call tomorrow to check. It's the ulster hospital in Belfast so not sure if its maybe different here than England. I defo want to get any tests going. Just checked my calendar and ill actually be 14+4 on the date if next scan so maybe I'd be best to book it did the week before. I was all of a fluff so just did what they said and couldn't think of any questions! Thanks girls, I honestly don't know what I'd do without you all

squizita · 16/04/2013 20:22

Scared myself witless... some mild (like 1-2 on the pain scale) one sided pain. I've been scanned umpteen times. Wonder if it feels 'tender' too. Blush I will go to Dr if it continues tomorrow...

andadietcoke · 16/04/2013 20:31

Oh squiz. Could it be wind? Try lying on your left side to see if it helps? Hugs. Weird pains are horrid.

BumpKitty · 16/04/2013 20:38

ibip yes really I could impress you with the scale of my craziness but if I do you will no doubt start having the same crazy thoughts! I know my scan date not sure if it helps or not, it was exciting to find out the date though :)

janie I thought it seemed a bit late but didn't want to assume you wanted the tests, fwiw I didn't have any tests with DD and it actually stressed me out quite a bit not knowing so I will be having tests this time.

BumpKitty · 16/04/2013 20:45

i have just sat in front of my laptop with this thread open then typed the above post on my phone - what a numpty!

bod god that would piss me off no end, i had a bolshy teenager in the next bed when I had my ERPC and that was soul destroying!

squiz go to the dr if you are worried, but it's probably normal pains. That's meant to be reassuring but sounds patronising - it's not meant to be my brain is just a bit rubbish at the mo

shellshock7 · 16/04/2013 21:02

Jbrd, lucky thinking of you x

squiz hope the pains have subsided x

diy you feeling any better today?

congrats janie Grin what a relief, you must be made up!

Good luck for tomorrow vocal Smile

Has anyone on here any experience of PGP? I had it relatively mildly with DS....had to wear a support and couldnt really get abt etc. without lots of pain but never ended up on crutches/wheelchair...I was just wondering if anyone knew if it could start this early (9+2 today) as I'm sure I felt the pains today after a really hectic day where I've prob overdone it Hmm It didn't start till 4m last time so I'm really hoping its just normal growing pains or something?

andadietcoke · 16/04/2013 21:07

shell I think it starts earlier if you've had it before. No personal experience (obviously!) but have spent many many hours googling pregnancy aches and pains in early pregnancy (before I knew it was normal for twins to hurt early and frequently).

shellshock7 · 16/04/2013 21:20

anda I avoid google if I can help it (prob would've self diagnosed a MC the way I'm feeling today Hmm) so thanks for that...oh bugger tho, it's gonna be tough with DS here if its like last time!

andadietcoke · 16/04/2013 21:31

shell I'll google on your behalf and only ever tell you the positive stuff!

shellshock7 · 16/04/2013 21:38

DS had to have a few tests and things when he was first born (totally fine tho Smile) and the docs said to me when I asked them to repeat the name of a test...never google, you are stressed to the max already and don't need to make it worse, you won't read anything worthwhile or good! I've obeyed pretty much ever since Grin

BumpKitty · 16/04/2013 21:49

Sounds like a wise doctor shell, i have a friend who had very bad SPD and had it much earlier in her 2nd pg. Her mw told her it wasn't possible to have it as early a she did - which was really useful! Anyway, she started having physio pretty early on and that helped her a lot - might be worth asking about x

JBrd · 16/04/2013 23:55

Good luck tomorrow, vocalista! Am also wishing for option a!

I almost feel that we need a stats thread just to keep up with all the scan dates Grin, there are too many too close together! I'm struggling to keep up!

The bleeding seems to have slowed down a little today... I think. But still bright red and watery-ish, and the back pain is really bad, I had to take paracetamol. I wish it was Thursday tomorrow, so that I can find out what is going on Sad
The sad thing is that I don't think that -should it be all well and good- the scan will make me feel much more positive. If the outcome is good, then it'll be a short relief, before I start worrying again. Because there is just no guarantee that all will be fine from now on...
Sorry to be all doom & gloom!
Think I might have a pyjama day tomorrow, today ended up being quite busy! But it felt good to keep busy, although I'm quite tired now. I made cibatta and ginger shortbread, wondering what I can bake tomorrow... Quite fancy trying a new cake recipe, the problem is that I end up eating it! Grin
