A place to carry on chatting after a BFP and support each other through the stressful bits. I hope to see many new graduates appearing....

janie sympathies on the sore throat, I found getting the soluble paracetamol helped as it has direct contact with your throat iyswim!

IBelieveInPink · 25/03/2013 14:25

Oh Janie that's no good! Maybe try a salt water gargle? That won't make it feel better but may help it clear up quickly. And as for headache, if it is a stuffy type one, maybe smelling Olbas oil to clear it up? or a little bit I lavender oil rubbed into temples can help too.

JanieLovesCake · 25/03/2013 15:17

Thanks for the tips girls :) I've got some tiger balm to rub on my temples and under my nose. I'm thinking its maybe a positive (but annoying) symptom, my mum had this the whole way through both pregnancies. Off to get some salty water! Xx

JBrd · 25/03/2013 15:32

Janie Not to frighten you, but be careful with aromatic oils and balms, some of them are not recommended in pregnancy...
Salt water is great, if you can stomach it Grin

I've just realised that I'm not completely symptom-less... I've started to wake up with a very blocked nose now, which I remember all too well from my last pregnancy, only then it started much later! It's really annoying, I think it's called pregnancy rhinitis, you just end up constantly blowing your nose!

However, I'd rather have that instead of ms...

It is amazing how much you forget! DS will be 2 in May, but looking back now, the pregnancy all seems a haze... The more I think about it, the more I remember the details, and I have to say, not all is good Hmm.
I do look forward to being able to ask for lots of back and foot rubs from DH Grin

GardenWorm · 25/03/2013 15:33

Janie Hot water, dollop of honey, squeeze some lemon in and chuck a couple of paracetamol down your neck! My DH has something similar, I am psyching myself up for the inevitable catching of the germs....

BoyMeetsWorld · 25/03/2013 18:54

Hey all. I'm back, unexpectedly pg (we weren't exactly trying as had persuaded ourselves it was bad timing & I'd had a great job offer to start sept Hmm) of course it's fantastic though but I'm completely terrified. Last mc was dec. so scared & bad tummy pains which don't bode well.

andadietcoke · 25/03/2013 19:10

Hi boymeetsworld congratulations!! Being scared is normal, as are tummy pains. I'm 16w tomorrow and have had awful pains the whole way through, from the day I got my BFP to today. They come and go, and you'll worry they're gone when they're gone Wink

Higg · 25/03/2013 19:23

Hi everyone
Thank you for the kind messages has been a tough time and all I wanted was to get pg again now every little thing I'm thinking is all over but poas this mornin.g and CB said 3+ so it has risen it did put my mind at ease slightly just can't wait to here from the consultant to have my first scan, felt ill as envy thing since sat morning got a real stinking cold and sore throat but I'm just getting on with it and sleeping a lot, also had a very boozy wedding on sat was asked a could of times why wasn't I drinking I used the old white lie I'm on antibiotics hehe.
JBrd I was 5 weeks yesterday so we have the same due date :)
Hope everybody is good and had a good weekend

JanieLovesCake · 25/03/2013 19:25

Oh thanks for the advice girls. jbrd, ill maybe give it a miss to be on the safe side, I have the white tiger balm not the red one, maybe I'll just get some olbas hankies instead. God we really do have to be so careful! Last time I was pg I asked the pharmacist if it was ok to take paracetamol in early pg and he was very wary. Now I'm scared to take anything :( think ill just grin and bear it and hug a mug of honey and lemon instead!

Hi boy, and congrats!

BoyMeetsWorld · 25/03/2013 19:38

Thanks Coke that makes me feel a little better. Do they only give 'extra' care, scans etc after lots of mcs in a row? Think I may try & pretend it's not happening for a while

BettyFlutterbly · 25/03/2013 22:52

Hi girls. Too tired too read back through all the news I've missed. Just want to day hi and will be back tomorrow (will be 20 weeks yay!!)

Night girls and bumps x

IBelieveInPink · 26/03/2013 07:16

Morning all!
Dietcoke- just wanted to say good luck for your scan today. Let us know how you get on :)
Janie- how is the sore throat?
Boy- from what we have established it really depends how many miscarriages and where you live! Hope you are feeling a bit better today

andadietcoke · 26/03/2013 07:19

ibip thank you. I'm lying in bed refusing to get up. Bad news can't get me in bed. At least the scan's early - small mercies!

Bod is it your scan today too? If so, good luck!

BoyMeetsWorld · 26/03/2013 07:25

Morning everyone. Slightly less in shock today. Slightly.

How are you all feeling today?

IBelieveInPink · 26/03/2013 07:31

Haha! Small mercies indeed, I booked mine for 9am. No spending the day stressing for me! Now. Only 2weeks 3 days and 2 hours to wait!

andadietcoke · 26/03/2013 07:52

It'll fly by. Ahem.

I'm still refusing to get up. DH has just told me I'm being pathetic and immature. I know this, but I'm not ready to take on today yet!

GardenWorm · 26/03/2013 08:09

Good luck Anda xxx

JanieLovesCake · 26/03/2013 09:05

Ooh good luck anda!

My throat seems a little better and head doesn't feel as bashed about phew! I think a good long sleep worked pretty well. I woke up not feeling very pg though :(

JanieLovesCake · 26/03/2013 09:09

And pink how are your tummy pains? C

bunchofposy · 26/03/2013 09:25

Hello ladies

Congratulations to all the BFPs!

Delayed response Betty as have been away for a belated birthday break - bliss. I am due 11th August though, so snap! Gary what date are you due? Brie and Almond are you also due around then then?

I have my 20 week scan this morning. Feeling more relaxed about it than I was about the 12 week scan, which I built myself up into a state of massive anxiety about, and made myself quite ill. Mc really does mess with your head doesn't it?

Good luck to the job seekers. I can completely relate to hating my job! Currently trying to decide whether to leave for mat leat at the earliest date ie 29 weeks - I've seriously had enough now!

Hope you're all well. x

shellshock7 · 26/03/2013 09:37

Good luck anda and posy Smile

Is there any reason I can't have a menthol sweet? It says it contains no medicine or active ingredient? My throat is so sore Hmm

Also, is there a point that a PG test stops working, I know that you can get a false negative if you are too far along so was just wondering of anyone knew what point that would be? I've got 2 left so was gonna keep them in case I have a big panic but wouldn't wanna get a false negative cos I'm too far along Confused

bunchofposy · 26/03/2013 09:57

Good luck dietcoke! Hope it's going well.

Shellshock I wouldn't test again personally. Well it would mess with my head to do so anyway, as even if it was positive I would be analysing the line or number of weeks and finding reasons to get paranoid! I'd get your DH/DP to hide them far away!

Not sure about menthol sweets - I can't see why not though? I also like the soluble paracetamol tip from earlier. I have had a permanent sore throat for the past month or so so sympathise. The joys of a crappy immune system!
xx

bunchofposy · 26/03/2013 10:01

ps having said that (and realising I haven't answered the question!), I think the hg rises til about 12 weeks doesn't it, so I reckon til then a false neg would be v unlikely. Not sure about afterwards. Interesting q! x

IBelieveInPink · 26/03/2013 10:33

Janie- glad to hear you are feeling better. Cramps have calmed down a lot now.

Posy- good luck for your scan too!

Shell- I thought the test starts going backwards from about 7/8 weeks. Could be wrong though.

JanieLovesCake · 26/03/2013 10:51

Oh that's good pink, it is such a petrifying time. Cramps mean panic, no cramps mean panic too aaarrrggghhh! I'm currently in the 'no cramps' team and scaring myself silly.
