12 week scan looks like twins but sonographer didn't pick up on it?????

Hi I'm new to this forum and just wanted to come on here because I'm pretty lost. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and had my scan 1 week ago and it wasn't a nice experience! I was an hour later than the appointment time because they forgot about me and started to pack up! I was in pain from being so desperate for the toilet so the scan was uncomfortable. Anyway the sonographer was struggling to get an image and I was in and out fairly quick. What I wanted to know was on the scan there's the shape of a second head by the other baby's feel and what could be a foot by the baby's head. Very clear but fainter than the baby we were all looking at in the scan. If its so obvious could it just be coincidental as it looks to obvious for the sonographer to miss it or has this happened to anyone else? I have an already large bump that i can't hide which is making me more panicked! Please help its really consuming all my thoughts and I'm becoming obsessed! Thank you xxx

That would be an enormous mistake. I doubt it ... but ... am no expert!

Okay I'll do it now I'm not good with computers so it may take a few minutes to figure out!

I would have thought it would be a massive incompetence on the sonographer's part to have missed it but I suppose there's a chance of anything happening!

I think you need to go to your midwives for a second scan. Or go to the gp with it and they will send you same day. I that doesn't sound right at all and the sonographer sound like he couldn't get be arsed tbh. I've come across a fair few crappy ones in my time (2 pregnancies both with lots of extra scans and a son who regularly has scans). A lot of them are distant and quite rude.

Did you not question at the time? it would be a huge mistake if she did miss a 2nd baby at 12 week scan.

My thoughts are could it be the same baby in a position so you can see the feet and the head at the same time so she repositioned the probe and it looked like a different shot but was just a different view of the same baby. The other possibility is that it is a echo so the fainter baby is just an image artefact and from the ultrasound waves bouncing off some thing they shouldn't such as some metal.

I did many years ago spend a few weeks working in ultrasound but it was many years ago so my knowledge is very rusty.

Agree it would be a very big mistake, but i have twins so have twin scan pics (mine were dcda so very obviously two) interested to see pics :)

I can only see one baby from that pic. Where do you think the second one is?

Don't they listen to the heartbeat, too? So would have picked up two heartbeats?
