Hi I'm new to this forum and just wanted to come on here because I'm pretty lost. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and had my scan 1 week ago and it wasn't a nice experience! I was an hour later than the appointment time because they forgot about me and started to pack up! I was in pain from being so desperate for the toilet so the scan was uncomfortable. Anyway the sonographer was struggling to get an image and I was in and out fairly quick. What I wanted to know was on the scan there's the shape of a second head by the other baby's feel and what could be a foot by the baby's head. Very clear but fainter than the baby we were all looking at in the scan. If its so obvious could it just be coincidental as it looks to obvious for the sonographer to miss it or has this happened to anyone else? I have an already large bump that i can't hide which is making me more panicked! Please help its really consuming all my thoughts and I'm becoming obsessed! Thank you xxx

I cant make it big enough to see well but i can see the bits you mean, i think the 'foot' is a hand, hard to tell about the 'head' by the feet as i cant see it clearly enough

babraham · 16/01/2013 19:58

Looks like just the one to me!

goodygumdrops · 16/01/2013 19:59

Can you make the picture bigger?

lightrain · 16/01/2013 19:59

Oh, I see what you mean. No, I think it's just one. Babies at 12 weeks have bendy legs, I think the second 'head' is just a bendy leg.

LittleDonkin · 16/01/2013 19:59

I cant enlarge the pic either but I would be straight to the MW tomorrow and see what shee thinks. The "bulge" looks like something you wouldnt see on a scan where there is only one baby.

sillymillyb · 16/01/2013 19:59

I can't make your photo bigger to have a nosey..... nooooooo!

From this size I can only see one baby, I'm no expert mind - I went home and cried after my first scan because I couldn't make out all the bits the sonographer was pointing to and I felt like an awful mother!

McPhee · 16/01/2013 19:59

Hmm I doubt there is two, but can you enlarge the image a bit?

oneforthemoney · 16/01/2013 19:59

I can see what you mean. Can you rescale tne pic to make it bigger?

Beckimakeup · 16/01/2013 19:59

Lightrain it by the feet a fairly clear head just fainter than the prominent baby. We didn't listen to the heart beat no at the scan and I didn't see the head until I got home!

I can't see it too clearly but the "foot" by the head looks like a hand to me, I've seen that with my current pregnancy. You don't see te arm as its further away but the hand shows more clearly as its closer?

As I said I can't tell from the photo it's just a theory

VisualiseAHorse · 16/01/2013 20:00

The picture is so tiny - can't make it any bigger?

hpsaucy · 16/01/2013 20:00

I can't make the picture bigger, but it looks like only 1 baby to me

Chocaholics · 16/01/2013 20:01

Looks like only one baby to me, although I can see what you mean.

McPhee · 16/01/2013 20:01

Well, baby has a nice healthy sized head Grin

Sorry, couldn't resist Grin

CheerfulYank · 16/01/2013 20:01

Looks like just one to me...a cute one! :)

VinegarDrinker · 16/01/2013 20:02

At 12 weeks that is highly unlikely (but obviously not impossible). Much easier to miss twins earlier on. If they were just "in together" like you describe without separate sacs or placentas they would also be the very rarest type of twins (MCMA) which occur in less than 1% of TWIN pregnancies.

So all in all fairly unlikely!

Pinot · 16/01/2013 20:02

YY, increase the size to the maximum

Beckimakeup · 16/01/2013 20:03

Bigger picture now available!

pmgkt · 16/01/2013 20:03

I can see what you mean too but would they really miss it?

VinegarDrinker · 16/01/2013 20:04

X posted with the reveal of the photo!

McPhee · 16/01/2013 20:05

Ooh crap, now that does look like a profile to me Confused

sundaesundae · 16/01/2013 20:05

Baby's hand is by its head, the "second head" looks like the position of the legs, you could be seeing some placenta or umbilicus too. Definitely looks like one baby.

DoodleAlley · 16/01/2013 20:05

Ok I kind of see what you mean about a head by the feet. The trouble is that we are hard wired to see faces so it's tricky to know if it's just an optical illusion.

SneakyNuts · 16/01/2013 20:06

I see what you mean now, OP.

I do think it's the one baby though, maybe the position it's in causing an illusion?

VinegarDrinker · 16/01/2013 20:06

One baby, one placenta definitely! Hand up by its head. Can't see the second "head" just a pair of bent legs.
