Oh, no, Pollingfold - what happens if you're not immune? You may still be able to go, won't you?

My mum can't remember if I've had it - very annoyingly. It's going round here too.

How is ds feeling?

jacksmumto1 · 17/03/2004 22:44

Pollingfold - hope everything is ok for you....

I saw the consultant today (not thurs as my pregnancy-addled brain thought ) and all is well. Had a scan - great to see my babe for the first time!! He was such a nice consultant, explaining where the baby was lying etc... and confirming that it was very likely the baby I have felt moving since 9 weeks. On the cs-front - it appears we will make a final decision at 33 weeks but it will be based on my feelings; how much pain I am in from SPD; the estimated size of the baby and how the pregnancy has been; if we go ahead then I will be booked in for 38.5 weeks. It was a positive appointment and I am happy with the outcome! Oh the scan revealed no twins - so no suprises on that score ... dh is a little disappointed!!

jacksmumto1 · 18/03/2004 15:29

Keep meaning to ask.... has anyone had that 'filling up with milk' feeling? The last week as been quite uncomfortable!!

cazzybabs · 19/03/2004 17:34

I am getting quite nervous that I'll go for my 12 week scan and they will say ergghh - no you're not pregnant at all." I mean I did only do 4 pregnancy tests...but as my ddddp points out that means I have got really fat and have turned into a really lazy cow.

sweetkitty · 19/03/2004 19:22

cazzy

I still think someone will turn round and say dorry you're not pregnant (this is after 3 scans) and now I'm showing. Still don't believe theres a baby in there!

wilbur · 19/03/2004 19:37

I meant to pop into this thread last week but didn't get around to it. You may have seen my other thread last week - I lost the baby at 11 1/2 weeks as it was ectopic. Very sad, but I am okay, had surgery and am recovering well. I'm sad not to be joining you ladies on the rest of this journey, but I wish you all the very best of luck and hope you have easy, happy pregnancies and even easier births! Looking forward to checking in again in September to hear who has sprogged. Good luck! xxxxx

cazzybabs · 19/03/2004 19:52

wilbur - so sorry to hear that. Much love.

Mog · 20/03/2004 11:48

wilbur
sad news, hope you are coping.
I had ectopic at 10-12 weeks in 2000. Have since had a baby girl and this one on the way. Just thought you'd like to know.
If you want to ask me anything feel free, maybe on a new thread.
Big hugs, and warmest wishes.

Coddy · 23/03/2004 00:23

stringbean · 23/03/2004 14:37

Thought I ought to drop in as it's a while since I've visited. How are you all? Wilbur, so sorry to hear your news - can't imagine what you must be going through right now.

Good to hear about everyone's scans. Someone mentioned that they're convinced they'll go for their scan, only to be told they're not pregnant. I felt exactly the same about mine, so relieved to see something was there! Went for nuchal fold scan on Monday (had to go private, as we only get a 20 week scan in our area - you get offered an amnio if you're 36 or over, but I didn't really want to take this route unless there was just cause). Slightly concerned at first as they said my bloods 'weren't great' ie. my hCG level was high (can be an indicator of Downs, among other things). I suspected my levels had been high as I broke out in a horrible allergic rash at 8 weeks, which the midwife suggested might be triggered by high hormone levels. Anyway, the scan itself looked fine, and the sonographer convinced me I had a 'lovely healthy baby'; she worked out my risk factor to be 1: 1000, so happy with that (age related risk is 1:170). It was lovely to see the little one kicking and waving, and a direct shot of it's bits did look somewhat male - very hard to tell at this stage, but the sonographer didn't contradict us.

Feeling very tired at the moment. Went skiing last week, and forgot what a knackering activity it can be when you're in good health, let alone 11 weeks pg. Lots of you seem to be feeling blobby right now - can I join in? I've put on about half a stone and am SO hungry all the time - sure I don't remember feeling like this last time! Desperate to keep it all under control - hate the feeling that my body is controlling me. Sat in the car outside the supermarket yesterday, scoffing a tub of takeaway salad (lots of beans and chickpeas in a yummy dressing) - I just drove there on auto-pilot after work. Too tired to cook last night, so went out for fish and chips, which I really wanted, but then I was sick afterwards. Realised that it wasn't the F&C I wanted, but the ketchup! Seem to want to eat strong tasting, vinegary, tomatoey foods at the moment. The thought of sweet stuff makes me feel ill. Does anyone else have odd cravings? Went to the gym on Tuesday and they've worked out a great programme for me to follow, but just want to lie on the sofa in the evenings, so not sure how I'll ever muster up the effort to go! Hoping this will pass soon and the second trimester will see me (and all of you) full of energy.

Lolabelle · 23/03/2004 17:20

Half a stone i snothing - I've just passed the stone mark and its not slowing down!! I'm craving meat a lot and I am famished all the time, colleagues keep tellingme they can see my mbump but it is in fact just weight gain!! I've still no bump and am eating for ten at least and bought 2 big macs last tuesday on the way to my mums and parked up and ate them both before getting to my mums as the thought of the McDonalds meat was too much for me to resist!!

So sorry to hear your news Wilbur, I sincerely hope you are coping and my thoughts are with you.

ja9 · 23/03/2004 17:23

lolabelle - craving meat? isn't that supposed to mean that you're having a boy?

niknik · 23/03/2004 17:38

Thought I would catch up as not been around much lately. Wilbur I am so sorry to hear yours news, hope you will be starting to feel a little better soon.

Well I have finally mustered up the confidence to start telling people about the pregnancy. To be honest I don't think I could keep it a secret much longer as I appear to have developed a definate bump over the last week.

I am now almost 16 weeks. Still feeling tired and yucky, I have absoloutlely no appetite and I am having to force myself to eat. I weighed myself today and I am exactly the same as my pre-pregnancy weight. I am seeing the midwife next week for my ante-natal check up and bloods, so I don't know if she will say anything about my weight.

niknik · 23/03/2004 17:53

P.S.

I have worked out that I will start my maternity leave in exactly 19 weeks (if all is well)

I am obviously very bored (or lazy) at work

costamum · 23/03/2004 20:24

Hey Stringbean - I had the same ketchup craving in my first pregnancy until I ate too much and got sick! Sort of went of it after that - all the heartburn didn't help either. This time round I seem to be after creamy sort of things - especially in cakes - something which I couldn't stand before!

Sorry to hear your news Wilbur. Take care.

dinny · 24/03/2004 12:13

Hi everyone, I am suddenly feeling hugely fat and blobbyb (16 weeks). Booob are huge too. I'm also cravign meat, Lolabelle. Am a vegetarian so a bit tricky- can't let myself eat it. Have been having loads of Quorn sausages instead. Does that mean a boy? Anyone feeling movement yet? I thought I was much earlier but haven't for a while.

Lolabelle · 24/03/2004 17:09

jA9 - Really is that the saying that meat cravings equal a boy?? God that would make hubbie pleased!!

God I am so envious of you not gaining a pound yet, I am nearly 17 weeks yet feel about 30 weeks!! Worth it though...

M2T · 24/03/2004 17:15

I don't believe there really is a link between cravings and the sex of your baby..... FWIW I developed a huge sweet tooth with my 1st pregnancy..... which turned out to be a boy. Same this time. I'd rather be craving meat though coz I've put on nearly a stone and I'm only 20wks! EEEEEEEEEEK!

Distracted · 25/03/2004 15:07

Hello everyone, not been on here for a while. So sorry to hear Wilber's news, must be horrendous to go through that.

Think I'm the latest due on this thread - my date is actually 27th September and when I went and had my dating scan last week they thought I was probably 2 days out, which would make me due on 29th (although they haven't changed the date in my notes). It was lovely to see the baby kicking and moving around on the scan. Just got to work out what antenatal care I'm going to get now - read about how the number of appointments have been reduced, so will have to ring my local midwives and find out what the norm is now (my booking and scan were at the hospital where I plan to deliver, but I won't go there for antenatal appts as it's an hour drive away).

What are other people getting in the way of antenatal appointments this time round? Last time it was every 4 weeks up to 32 weeks, then fortnightly to 36 weeks, then weekly. I read that now 2nd pregnancies would only have 7 appointments.

Still feeling fat, haven't dared weigh myself again. A friend said I was showing already yesterday and I'm only 12+4 days! I don't think I am really - just looking fat!

Stringbean - glad to hear your scan went so well and you had such a low risk. You know who I am by the way - forgot to tell you my nickname, but expect you've worked it out from my due date! I'm a coward when it comes to the downs risk and even refused to have the triple test bloods.

Did someone mention selling size 14 maternity clothes (sorry think it was a long way down the thread)? I'm a 14 and my last lot of clothes were all winter clothes, could do with summer wear if anyone wants to sell?

Anyway must go - dp kindly took daughter into town this morning to get some shopping and they've just got back and can hear her crying (she's really miserable today with a cold and everything is making her cry or have tantrums). Better go...

highlander · 25/03/2004 18:11

I'm actually a bit jealous of all the September bumps! My tummy is still pancake flat, although I'm starting to feel a bit 'full' and the outline of my abs has gone.

Starting to feel light headed - is that normal?

dinny · 27/03/2004 11:54

Can't believe you've got a flat tummy, Highlander!! Are you quite tall? I've a bit of a bump now - looks huge to me but others say tummy looks unpregnant still.

I feel really "full" too - woke up last night really uncomfy from lying on one side too long. Can't imagine how huge tummy will be in 4 months! It seems so big now!
