I am glad other people are thinking of maternity clothes. Last time I wasn't wearing them until I was 7-8 months preggers - this time it won't be long. Where do you recomened getting them from?? Next, blooming marvellous, JoJoBebbe - anywhere else I've missed?

Still feeling a little sick all the time - but mostly in the evening and so tired I want to cry.

tillymint · 13/03/2004 00:13

I'm depressed about maternity clothes.....
Last year I bought loads, mainly from Next and Equation. One year on, and at 3+ molnths, my size 16 smart black maternity trousers are too tight........ Only wore them a couple of times.
I have visions of all the others failing to fit as the weather improves.
Will I really have to buy size 18 maternity. ...
I just feel like a blob. With 6 months of blobbiness to go.
Sorry about that. Need to have a 'feeling sorry for myself ' moan.
I really thought I was doing okay weight wise. I can't zip up my long boots either!

jacksmumto1 · 13/03/2004 11:09

Maternity clothes are a pain - either expensive for such a short period of wear or don't fit proper! Other places to get them - Asda; Mothercare; Dorothy Perkins; ?Marks and Spencer....
I'm only intending to buy a 1-2 decent pairs of trousers that I can use at work and at home (along with the jeans I have already); as I figure in the hotter months we will be wearing cooling dresses! Well.... that's the plan!
My jeans from last time which fitted me till I was about 8 months (and I struggled with for the last month with other trousers - it was winter!) are a snug fit now. I bought a pair off ebay - perfect fit so I will be selling them on (size 10 black mothercare BNWT's if anyone interested?! ). Must admit I started a few pounds heavier this time - would that make such a big difference?

Don't worry about having a moan to us!!! To be honest I know how you feel - I felt awful yesterday - so sick, tired and with a cracking headache but had to keep going for ds - I was almost begging him to go to bed last night so I could go! Just hope I can get through the next 2 days at work without feeling so ill

ja9 · 13/03/2004 11:31

Feeling really sorry for myself this morning... I thought all morning sickness had gone and have been feeling fine all last week. But last night, all through the night i just felt so awful - bloated and uncomfortable. Then this morning feel crap too. Struggled into work but not feeling enthusiastic about teaching my class all day. Winge, winge winge......

Jacks,
Is it worth selling maternity clothes on ebay?
Have you had much success?
How do you know what price to ask ?
Is it worth selling in batches or singulkarly?

dejags · 13/03/2004 15:05

Can I join in the maternity wear moan

My bump is growing at an alarming rate and almost all my pre-preggie clothes are a tight fit now. My boobs are HUUUUUUGGGEEE (gone up 2 cup sizes )

I have tried to get maternity clothes - went to Pumpkin Patch yesterday - their size 12 drowned me and they had nothing in a size 10. I looked at blooming marvellous and next and their clothes drown me (to my utter surprise), the Next size 10/12 were a joke and I am normally a 10/12, BM clothes were even funnier.

I am so uncomfortable in my non-maternity clothes and hate not being able to find anything decent in a maternity range (I may also have a bit of a mental block because I put on 4.5 stone in my last pregnancy and am determined not to do the same again!!!)

I am so glad to hear that other people have noticeable bumps - there is absolutely no way I can hide being pregnant anymore - people look at me askew when I tell them I am only 13 weeks gone?.

Moan over

Tillymint - I've only bought off ebay not sold so may not be of much use! Clothes seem to sell in both batches and single items - I must admit I prefer singles as I may not like all the clothes in the set! The trousers I bought are brand new with tags and I got them for £10 - I think the lowest you could bid was £2.50. Must admit I would give it a go however don't forget to say postage and packing is extra (this cost does mount up!) and if you accept paypal I think paypal will charge 3 or 5% so you may want to say that this has to be added on to the purchase price (otherwise you lose out).

dejags - my boobs are huge too and so so sore (much to dh's disgust!!!!! ) My bump is noticeable but I manage to disguise with loose tops/jumpers - most of my colleagues don't know yet! Should tell them as I'm 14 weeks but ....

sweetkitty · 13/03/2004 18:48

can I have a moan too about maternity wear. My size 10/12's stopped fitting a while ago and I decided I had to wear maternity clothes. Got some size 12 maternity trousers from Next and even with safety pins they are falling down. The size 12 tops I never tried on and they just look huge (at the shoulders not the bump area). I'm 18+4 now and just want something to fit me. And why do maternity bras have so much material, I know they are bigger but they ruin the neckline of some tops and blouses poking through. Grrrrrr!

dejags · 13/03/2004 18:59

Dejags can my grandchild be included as dd is due on sep 16th(I think)
she has no name at moment but I know once she comes home she will really like to read all this advice

jacksmumto1 · 13/03/2004 19:13

my EDD is the 11th

might be earlier if I have an elective cs though!!

Tillymint - am I right in thinking you have SPD? How are you getting on? Mine's eased off slightly - still there, still uncomfortable but not painful at the mo - I know for some it is related to hormones - could it be that things are settling now I am at 14 weeks so may ease for a bit??? Hope you are ok

tillymint · 13/03/2004 22:18

dejags
My scan has given earlier date of 1st Sept.

SPD
Still being affected by it, but seem to be managing it quite well. It doesn't help that dd2 is getting bigger and heavier (7 months). Bending down to pick her up causes discomjfort by the end of the day. I'm in no hurry for her to start crawling.....she is springloaded though. Everytime shes picked up she bounces.
Also spending a fortune on osteopath every fortnight, reeeaaallly helps. She keeps thing in line.
And I do not push a shopping trolley or pram. Can do buggy around flat shopping area, need my retail therapy. Feel a bit lazy driving everywhere, but if I push it, I'll end up like last year - confined to a chair, and crawling around.

Apparantly there are two types (in theory) of SPD - mechanical and hormonal. Not sure whbat the difference is. Maybe we've got different types. I do hope yours continues to ease. Just don't get to confident and cause va set back. Best of luck and thanks for remembering.

tillymint · 13/03/2004 22:21

BTW M&S don't do maternity anymore.
If anyone is interested in my cast offs, sizes 14 and 16 let me know.
Mind you, you all sound a little skinny for my tents..

highlander · 13/03/2004 23:14

noooooo dejags! I'm on the 24th - I don't want to be bottom of the list!

highlander · 13/03/2004 23:16

actually, seeing my name on the list of September gals makes me feel quite cool.

Yay - I'm in a cool club!

Mog · 13/03/2004 23:21

I've been a bit quiet on this thread but feel more confident as I went for the 12 week scan today and everything is fine. This will be our third baby and I've had various due dates but reckon it's about the 18th.

cazzybabs · 14/03/2004 01:41

Not really sure of my date - dd not planned and I knew excatly date of LMP this one planned (kind of) and not a clue. Hopefully late Sept early Oct - will let you know when I have my 12(ish)week scan.

Doctors tomorrow for blood tests, dp out getting pissed tonight .

BTW did nay watch your life in their hands on BB1 tonight - all about doctors and today was about brain surgery - quite amazing!

tillymint · 14/03/2004 21:50

cazzy
Watched some of it, but missed the end. Did the guy recover?

niknik · 15/03/2004 14:36

Hi girls hope you are all well.

Have you now told everybody about your pregnancy ie work collegues etc. I have told only my closest friends and just can't pluck up the courage to make it common knowledge yet.

I am sure it is my previous m/c's that are making me so wary, I am still unconvinced that everything will be alright this time even though my scans have been fine.

If I had my way I would hold out for another 6 weeks until my 20 week scan, but I don't think my stomach muscles will!

Any body else feel the same way

jacksmumto1 · 15/03/2004 14:50

only a few friends and a few colleagues know at the moment... I can't decide how to tell folk that I am pregnant again! A couple of people have guessed and I think most others will guess very soon!!

pollingfold · 15/03/2004 15:16

Hi everyone, finally had scan yesterday and big sigh of relief that the blob appears OK. My nuchal folds risk factor didn't decrease however from the measeurements, but 1 in 700 can't be bad. Also since the scan was at 13+2 the measurements will be more than at 11 weeks, so been told not to worry. Its that a pregnant womans perogative..to worry.

Also dates have moved forward to 12th Sept - but that maybe due to having long babies. My DS was 62cm at birth but 2 weeks late!

Spent next 2 hours emailling everyone I know with the news, although many had guessed due to "how I stood with hands on belly". What must strangers think of us, while we sit and massage fat bellies whilst not looking pregnant!

dejags · 15/03/2004 15:25

My husband calls me the "town crier" Everybody we know knows including colleagues, postman, childminders family ... I am just not the type to keep this to myself

We have decided to find out the sex of the baby at the 23 week scan - DH wants me to keep this to myself but I don't think I will be able to go 17 weeks without telling anybody.

Pollingfold - we are due on the same day - let's see who get there first! I also had a very long first baby 59cms - 62cms is REALLLY long considering the average is in the low 50cms.

Hello to everyone.

Not much happening with me - still puking in the evenings. I have bump that is very noticeable to me but don't think others can really notice. Bizarrely still wearing normal jeans. With dd1 I wasn't able to get into them after about 10 weeks. Must just be carrying differently (and being sick I suppose)

pollingfold · 17/03/2004 17:17

DS has got chicken pox!!

Have just had to have blood taken to check my immunity.

Am supposed to be going on holiday next week.
