My boobs have been really sore for about a week, so bad I've bought a three pack of those ugly bras, I've always had tenderness before a period, but only for a day or so, I've also noticed a strange taste in my mouth, not enough to think much about it, until now, I've just read an early sign is a metallic taste, and that's the taste, couldn't put my finger on it before.

Slight twinges like mild period pains and wind.

I still don't want to believe it, I'm 39, this will be my first if I really am, but reading that about the metallic taste kinda made a light come on.

Early pregnancy symptoms REALLY feel like a period coming.....That's rather confusing.

I don't have anyone to tell, my husband is sleeping.

Blimey!!!

I never poas with dd as I had so many pregnant symptoms I was certain I was. But the gp test came up negative. He sent me on to the hospital (missing period and severe vomiting suggested if I wasn't pregnant I was definitely unwell) and urine tests, blood tests and physical examinations were done. I was told I wasn't pregnant, that I may have been but had probably miscarried. I was sent for a scan to confirm this.

I was almost 10 weeks pregnant with dd.

It can happen, it happened to my mother too and the only reason my pregnancy was confirmed was because the sonographer suggested a trans vaginal scan as her sister had exactly the same thing happen to her.

Some of us just aren't great at making hormones, which wouldn't be surprising given your fertility problems.

I had a negative test on the first day of missed period, OP, and I'm now 20 weeks pregnant! Try again in a few days (which will feel like years...)

itsnotmymainmainpresent · 17/11/2012 11:32

Sorry I posted and had to go to bed last night.

Fingers crossed it was a false negative. You've got the 2 extra tests to do in a week or so if your period doesn't come.

Good luck.

ScrambledSmegs · 17/11/2012 11:37

Don't feel silly, please. If nothing changes (and the brown blood could be nothing, implantation bleeding, spotting etc) then test again in a few more days.

FWIW, I thought I might be pregnant in February this year (nausea, sore boobs, funny taste in mouth). I got my period and was devastated Sad. I had an HSG (internal exam using dye and x-ray) at the fertility clinic booked for early March, so took a pregnancy test anyway to be on the safe side. Negative, as I expected. Later that month I got a BFP (positive test) and was absolutely over the moon Grin. Another post-HSG success, yay! There the story should end...

Except, when I went for my 7 week scan - customary when you've been referred to the fertility clinic - instead of a flickering heartbeat we saw a baby! Waving! Turned out I had been pregnant in February after all. Obviously one very tough baby, to make it through my 'period' and the HSG.

I'm due next week Grin

You can still bleed when you're pregnant at this stage, OP: implantation bleeding. Fingers crossed for you.

mrsbugsywugsy · 17/11/2012 12:54

does your period normally start with brown blood? If not it could well be implantation bleeding. I had this and got a faint positive a couple of days later.

Good luck!

Pondlily · 17/11/2012 13:08

No, usually light bleeding but definitely red at the start of my period.

I wouldnt give up hope, let us know how this story progresses please Lily, i know you might feel dishearted now but have faith in mother nature Smile

TerrorNotSoFrightened · 17/11/2012 13:21

I had this brown blood when pg, just when my period would have been due.
Also had two negative tests.

Stacks · 17/11/2012 13:22

Pondlily sometimes a negative test will have a faint line on the next day, which can be a sign of a faint positive due to too little of the pregnancy hormone.
I had invisible faint lines for a couple of days before getting a very faint line on a test within the stated time. Tested every day for a couple of weeks after, and watched that little line get darker and darker.
Try not to worry about any light bleeding. Your body can get implantation bleeding, or a 'fake' light period while still pregnant.

Best of luck to you. Keeping my gingers crossed.

Pondlily · 17/11/2012 16:09

Red blood now after cramping this afternoon (never get cramping with a normal period) I know was pregnant. So many changes and by 39 you really know your normal body and rhythms.

I let myself go there this morning and was so happy. I feel stupid now. And really, really sad.

I'm really sorry Pondlily, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you can be pregnant again very soon.

Is there anything your GP or specialists can do to help you? Have you had any investigations or tests?
