mummytotoby- when i was in labour with dylan i wanted to get in the pool, however i waited till the last minute to ask and when i did ask the midwife told me it would take half an hour to fill - at this point i decided i couldn't wait half an hour and had an epidural - something i really regretted later. next time i would definately ask them to start filling the pool before i felt i really needed it!

bighotmama- cheers! we like it and glad you do too - i'm welsh and my father is a keen ocean yachtsman so as dylan means 'welsh man of the sea' we thought it quite appropriate :) don't know what we'll do if we have another one and it's a boy tho cos dylan was the only boys name we could agree on!!

BigHotMama · 20/04/2006 16:18

MumtoDylan, How funny? Its the only boys name me and Dh can agree on too! Men are so fussy when it comes to boys names dont you think? We got about 4 girls names and just the 1 boys - could it be a sign I wonder?
I'll be diving straight in that pool & they wont be able to get me out...definately dont want epidural, just hope the pool will be free when I go in, do they have baths there if you cant have the pool?

diddle · 20/04/2006 17:50

bighotmama - they do have baths in two of the rooms, but i'd request that room if you want it, just to be sure. I quite fancy standing with the shower spraying on my back for a few hours, could be as relaxing as a massage.

MummyToToby · 27/04/2006 21:32

no twinkly lights unfortunately :( they sounded nice!!

anyone else rhesus negative?gotta have anti-d injections on tuesday and have been told they either do it in the arm, leg or BUM Blush.
wondered if there is a routine way at different hospitals, or if it is midwifes personal choice?

OP posts:
diddle · 28/04/2006 07:46

mummytotoby - sorry not rhesus Neg.

Been to Russells hall again this week, maternity car park was nice and empty, i was very impressed i didn't have to wait for ages to park especially as i was having braxton hicks every 5 mins and i was on my own.
The midwife was lovely and so was the consultant, all very professional and worked as fast as they could. It was just braxton hicks though and baby is staying put for another 6 weeks hopefully.

MummyToToby · 29/04/2006 15:49

been thinking about other pain relief in case i can't use the pool and was thinking of maybe pethidine. apparently some hosps only do it in either the thigh or bum, but at others they do both. does anyone know what russells hall do?

MummyToToby · 01/05/2006 22:26

just to let you know there is a CD player in the pool room

OP posts:
diddle · 02/05/2006 08:07

thanks mummytotoby, think DH is going to take his Ipod and speakers, although i doub that will happen, bet we end up rushing and forgetting loads of stuff.

BigHotMama · 02/05/2006 18:59

Cd player eh? My LO is partial to rock and soul music as he/she always kicks me when I sing in my band at weekends, it will come out head banging I reckon! Grin
Hope your all well girls, and we should think about arranging a meet up when all the baba's are born and we feel we can cope lol.
I just presumed pethidine was injected into the leg? Not sure what they offer at RHH? Hoping the classes may give me more info.
Has anybody done their birth plan yet?
Feel huge and only 26 weeks! Have outgrown a pair of mat jeans and my linen trousers have split (twice!).

diddle · 03/05/2006 10:21

bighotmama - haven't done my birth plan yet and i've only got 5 wks left, maybe i should do it today, just in case. I feel huge too, but thats because i am. I have put on 2 stone so far in this pregnancy, which i don't think is too bad.
I am noticing my trousers not fitting now i'm nearing the end, and i'm going to ahve to buy some more today, which is such a waste, but i need to be comfy.

MummyToToby · 03/05/2006 20:25

diddle what size are you? i have some maternity trousers from dp that are size 10 but they are too big for me. tried them on in the shop thought they were a little loose but there wasn't an 8 available and i was going away for the week so bought them anyway cos i had absolutely no clothes to take with me. now regretting it cos i hate wearing them as i have to walk around holding onto my trousers the whole time. complete waste of £25!!

MummyToToby · 03/05/2006 20:26

oh and btw incase anyone else has to have the anti-d it's in the arm. they do it in the opposite arm to the one you write with incase it makes it heavy. mine didn't hurt at all, whilst having it or after so wasn't really an issue.

OP posts:
BigHotMama · 04/05/2006 09:35

MummytoToby size 8? Thats just not fair, I'm a size 16 on top and size 18 on bottom. Have just purchased some light black linene 'beach' trousers from Next £15, very comfy, plenty of room and hoping they'll last me for next 14wks.
Diddle, thats not bad chick, 2 stone? I've put on 1 stone and 2 pounds so far and its all mainly chocolate n baby lol. Cant stop eating at moment, got munhcies all throughout the day but dont really enjoy big meals now its too much!

MummyToToby · 04/05/2006 11:02

i've put on 1 stone and 1 pound so far. got another 9 weeks and 1 day left - gona be huge. btw when is everyone due?

OP posts:
MummyToToby · 04/05/2006 11:02

btw that's a maternity size 8 not a normal size 8!!

OP posts:
MummyToToby · 04/05/2006 11:07

ooooh diddle 8th june not long now!! (just scanned back through the thread to find out when you were due!) anyone know where top banana has disappeared to?! does anyone know what they are having and have you got any names? mines a boy called toby jack morgan. (toby and morgan being my older brothers names and i wanted to name baby after him in memory - not personally that keen on morgan, i might just have jack yet - prefer it for a little girl so i might "save" it for later)

OP posts:
diddle · 04/05/2006 17:24

mummttotoby - yep only 5 weeks left, i was a size 14, but my new trousers are a size 16 and are soo comfy.
We don't know what we're having, i want a nice surprise. We have Joshua for a boy and Ruby for a girl. So looking forward to baby coming now, i just want it here.

BigHotMama · 05/05/2006 14:14

MummytoToby I'm due on 7th August so got just over 13 weeks left to go. Just cant wait now, and am excited to have a little bundle to look after and become a mom.
Diddle, 5 weeks to go for you then? Has it gone quickly? So far for me it has but I want the next 3 months to fly by. Ruby is a lovely girls name btw.

MummyToToby · 07/05/2006 14:17

i am the same. 8 weeks and 5 days to go and getting so fed up of the constant tiredness and back ache and not being able to sleep!! i just want to see my baby! worst luck cos i have come down with chicken pox! cos i'm after the 20 week critical stage no risk to baby, although he may contract it inside the womb. doc says only other risks are that it can be particularly severe forp regnant women - great, i am more likely to scar cos i'm no longer a child wel duuuuuuh, - now i have stretch marks and chicken pox scars to fret about, 10% chance of getting pneumonia (hopefully not as my sister is in hosp with this ATM) and it can bring on prem labour. the only risk is if baby is born within the next week and then he could get it or even worse shingles but that's unlikely as theres over 8 weeks to go and he may get chicken pox within the first year of his life. why oh why does everythin always happen to me!!

OP posts:
diddle · 08/05/2006 08:08

bighotmama - it has really flown by, feel like i've been pregnant forever, but the weeks are really going fast and still are. i can't believe i have 4 1/2 wks left now, its crazy. So many people have told me that it will slow down and really drag, but its not at all. that might be because i'm still working though, keeping busy.

mummtotoby - you are having a rough time of it, hope you stay well and don't get anything any worse.

BigHotMama · 09/05/2006 16:10

Hope your ok MummytoToby, thats been a fear of mine catching Chicken pox as never had it when I was younger. Hope you get better soon chick! x

Diddle, 4nhalf weeks to go? Wow! Cant wait till I'm at that stage, I'll be entering the 3rd trimester next Monday so feels like I'm reaching another milestone! Having loads of nasty heartburn at the moment and Gaviscon doesnt seem to be clearing it up 100%, its nasty stuff too!

Have got our 4d scan on Saturday so am really excited but bit nervous too. We're finally gonna see our baby's little face.

MummyToToby · 10/05/2006 16:29

well i've had chicken pox really bad, but i'm over the worst now. was in loads of pain with it. doctor gave me a spray for my mouth, calamine cream and paracetomol which did NOTHING. i was getting really stressed out with it and when i went back to the doctor (he wanted to keep an eye on me and baby) he wanted to admit me to hopsital cos i couldn't eat or drink and he thought the baby was distressed as he had been moving around way more than usual. i promised him i would try and eat so he agreed to let me just go for a scan to check everything was OK rather than having to stay in unless the scan picked anything up. he prescribed clarityn even though you aren't really supposed to take it when preg and this worked much better. i was no longer in agony so i was calm and i think this calmed baby down cos scan was fine. been using anbusol on my ulcers which is working better than the spray the doc gave me too so i;m sticking to that.feel fine in myself today, (hence why im back on MN) no longer feeling tired and sick and i can actually eat so i'm not starving anymore!!getting fed up of having to stay in the house. only 5 days to go!!gonna make me a nice spag bol i think to make up for not eating since thursday!

BHM - where you having your scan done and how much is it - i really want one!do they do DVDs of it?

OP posts:
BigHotMama · 10/05/2006 17:03

Blimey! Your really going through the mill aint ya chick? Glad your feeling better now and your spag bol goes down a treat!!!! yum yum Grin

My 4d scan cost me £150 at clinic called 'Onestop clinic' in Oldbury. You get 20 mins on dvd and cd of still images and I think they give you some photos too so good deal I think. But if you get chance to get yourself up to the babyshow at NEC (19th-21st) they are also doing them there not sure if you get same package but the price is about £25 so bargain whatever you get!

Did you hear about epidurals on GMTV this morning? They are only thinking of making women pay for them in the future? Its not been brought into action a nd not sure if it will but I think thats ridiculous, surely it should be free and we should be allowed the choice? Got to be a typical bloke who thought this idea eh?

nightowl · 10/05/2006 17:39

i had my last one at wordsley, just missed the shiny new russells hall. it said in the paper every room would have an en-suite kind of thing when they were building it Envy
