2 day over now and irregular period cramps and back ache are leading to NOWT!

And if one more persons tries to give me some 'helpful' advice I shall tell them
"Yes, I have been having sex whilst eating curried pineapple"
Fuck off!!!!

imustbepatient · 28/10/2012 19:59

Congratulations biggem and javotte!

I'm very happy to say that our little DD was born yesterday evening. Good luck to the rest of you!

Sastra · 28/10/2012 23:30

Me waters have just gone!

Stumbleine · 29/10/2012 05:59

Congratulations Imustbepatient!

Ooh exciting sastra, hope you're off having your baby now. I've been up since 3 contracting every 20 mins. Thought I might as well get out of bed as couldn't sleep. They seem to need dying off now though Sad.

RunningKatie · 29/10/2012 19:41

Wow, congratulations sastra, biggem & imustbepatient

Still pregnant here, DH nearly was stabbed last night when he started talking about an induction being inevitable. I'm only 4 flipping days over, an induction is another 8 days away. Worst still he was talking to the MIL who is the world's worst worrier but will also have discussed this with his whole extended family now. Arrghhhhh.

Stumbleine · 30/10/2012 07:29

My baby girl was born last night at 11.23 and we can't quite believe it!

Good luck to those still waiting.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 30/10/2012 10:02

Hooray! Congratulations :)

41+3 here and still no sign of baby. I had my third sweep this morning and everything is favourable and ready to go, it just needs to... go. My midwife is waiting for a call back from the consultant but I'll probably be booked in for an induction on Friday :( Lots of walking, swimming, stairs, pineapple, clary sage and being extra nice to DH until then!

Doodlekitty · 30/10/2012 13:50

I'm now 40+4 and I'm round the twist. So bored at home on my own, struggling to keep busy as everything is hard work. I was convinced he would be early so this has really thrown me. Consultant wants to induce me at +10 but I need to look into the pros and cons of this (any advice on that) before I decide whether it's happening.

Any tips on filling time on very little cash?

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 30/10/2012 15:05

Lots of walking, scrubbing floors and sleeping?

The pros and cons depend on why you're under consultant-led care. If it's just because you're overdue then the main reason for induction is that there's evidence to show that the placenta starts to deteriorate around the 42 week mark, meaning that the baby isn't being supported as well as it should be. In some cases this can lead to stillbirth or other negative outcomes. However, this is a very individual thing and the alternative is to monitor the baby every day and perform scans to check the blood flow through the placenta and umbilical cord and to measure the levels of amniotic fluid around the baby. As long as they are normal then it could buy your body a few days to go into labour by itself but any abnormalities should indicate immediate induction.

Orenishii · 30/10/2012 15:07

Hi all....relieved to say i had my son on saturday night (27th) and has been named Quincy Isaac. Not a great birth and still recovering but he's here and amazing so that's all that matters.

Congrats javotte,stumbleine and biggem!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 30/10/2012 15:25

Congratulations! I was wondering how you were getting on :) Excellent name.

javotte · 30/10/2012 17:15

Congratulations! I hope you can get plenty of rest.

Doodlekitty · 30/10/2012 17:26

Congratulations! Hope you have a speedy recovery and lots of lovely cuddles with your son

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 31/10/2012 14:50

Why am I still pregnant? :( I am going slowly mad; every time I hear the phone ring I get a little bubble of excitement thinking it's someone calling to let me know that I'm in labour Confused I've spent an absolute fortune on pineapple, curry, clary sage, EPO and chocolate, walked for miles, swum for miles more, rotated and NOT dilated, bounced, frog-walked the stairs and been more than nice to DH and nothing is happening. DH has announced that he is on paternity leave from tomorrow, so no pressure to have the induction on Friday or anything HmmAngry People I haven't spoken to in months are calling 'just to see how you're getting on'. Leave me the heck alone!

Purplecatti · 31/10/2012 15:21

Slightly Superior - you have my every sympathy. I am 41+3 and if there is no sign of baby by friday I'm getting booked in and really panicking about it. Last week I was told I'm 1-2cms down, 3/5ths engaged and partially effaced. But like you, NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
On the EPO, raspberry leaf capsules, pineapple, birth ball, walking, stomping up and down stairs, trying curry tonight (oh that will be fun with my acid reflux)
I am also furious at all the 'any news yet?' phone calls.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 31/10/2012 15:26

I don't mind the phone calls from actual friends but the casual acquaintances are starting to drive me bonkers. It has even extended to DH, whose first sleepy words on waking up yesterday morning were 'are you still pregnant? Yes? Oh.' You think he might have known if I wasn't!

MoonHare · 31/10/2012 16:18

Hi can I join you???

I'm going slowly mad here at 41+4, I would NEVER have believed I'd be this overdue. It's baby no. 3 the other 2 were also late - 9 days and 5 days but this??? 11 days??? Good grief.

Was planning a home birth and the chances are slipping away fast. Have an appt at hospital on Fri for assessment and baby monitoring.

Had a sweep yesterday was 2-3cm dilated cervix very soft apparently. Been having twinges, stretching, tightening, aches etc for more than 2 weeks on and off and loads last night but that all completely stopped.

I feel under so much pressure to deliver this baby, it can't be helping.

Grrrrrrrr................so fed up and frustrated!!!!!

Off to walk up and down stairs sideways, again.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 31/10/2012 16:32

You may join the campaign to make this the grumpiest thread on MN :o

I'm 41+4 too. I feel fine but I am terrified of being induced again. Trying not to panic and relax but :(

MoonHare · 31/10/2012 17:28

It's just so hard to relax though isn't it? With the threat of induction hanging there. Are there medical reasons why they would want to induce you? I'm hoping to get away with expectant management but I certainly think if there's no baby by the time of my appt on Fri then I can kiss home birth goodbye, even if I manage to avoid induction......

What are these babies thinking of????!

RunningKatie · 31/10/2012 19:46

I have overdue and fed-up pregnant woman rage today. I went to get a haircut and was helped out of my coat by a 19 year old who has no children. She proceeded to tell me that my bump was still really high for someone who was 40+6, then told me all about her DSis (accidental) home birth and how horrific she'd (not the sister) found it. How I got out of there without not bursting a blood vessel I don't know.

Tomorrow I have a sweep, oh the joy. I haven't really discussed inductions with the MW, but I guess they'll induce me on Tuesday when I'm +12 if I've not managed to go into labour naturally. That's my wedding anniversary so not the way I'd planned on spending it. Like you MoonHare I am hoping for a home birth this time around. I think these babies are so nice and cosy they don't want to come out when it's raining.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 31/10/2012 21:54

Ooo, nice anniversary present though! Let's hope you don't get that far.

No medical reason other than that I'll be 13 days overdue. I would like to give it until Monday but logistically Friday would be better. I'm just dreading having to be on the day unit and then delivery suite: no privacy, no space, noisy and bright. Exactly what I didn't want :(
