Just looking for like-minded ladies who are also new at this weird and wonderful thing to share my terror joy...

Feeling good so far at 5+3 although obv very early days and so much talk of miscarriage on this forum that it can become a little scary. Huge sympathy for anyone who's had a miscarriage, btw.

But thought I'd ask:

*how long had you been trying?
*how far along are you (if you know)?
*how are you feeling? Symptoms etc
*who have you told?
*are you, like me, rabidly Googling EVERYTHING?

OP posts:

Morning everyone

Just joined the club!! I'm just over 4 weeks, so exciting. This is my first child so I am literally terrified but have been trying for 7 years now so the pregnancy is such a relief. We have conceived through IVF, so it's been a long journey, but we're finally here. I have no symptoms really as yet, felt nauseas 3 weeks in but that literally only lasted for a day, the main symptom is breast tenderness. It is so painful and I'm so early on in pregnancy. Does it get worse? I'm dreading that if it does! Thought this would come later on! Is it too early to get symptoms? Hoping I'm lucky enough to be past sickness stage but maybe it's too soon for that yet! I feel like I don't know much about pregnancy, gonna buy some books and magazines I think, although at the same time don't want to be too keen in case something happens. Have spent hours on internet already finding out what I have to avoid eating and planning my birth already haha. I couldn't wait to tell everyone, the only people I haven't told are work and haven't put it on Facebook yet for that reason. But family and friends know.

How's everyone else doing? x

WeatherWitch · 29/09/2012 09:22

Welcome and congratulations mrsjones :)

babygeek · 30/09/2012 10:14

Got a call from my midwife yesterday and I have my booking appointment next Saturday at 8+1, yay! She sounded really nice, can't wait to meet her. We are starting to share the news with more friends, I probably need to tell my boss soon before something pops up on Facebook and a work friend sees it. I have been there for 4.5 years and I know that work people will be excited for me so I am lucky that will be low stress for me.

How are people dealing with morning sickness? Any magic cures? I would love to know! I am constantly eating dry crackers and polo mints, seems to help a bit. Ginger tea doesn't help me but ginger beer seems to. Luckily, I have only been properly sick once after I scoffed a load of corn chips, probably serves me right haha!

infamousmrsjones · 30/09/2012 11:23

Aww thank you Weather Smile. How are you today?

Good luck with booking appointment Baby. I?m having my first scan on the 11th so excited to see our little baby and find out if we?re having more than one Smile. Aw I hope my midwife is as nice as yours sounds, you really need that in your midwife with them being with you throughout. It?s exciting telling everyone isn?t it. I can?t wait to tell people at work as I can?t say no to some things at the moment that I shouldn?t be doing, like heavy lifting and when appointments start coming in I will have a proper explanation for them. But it?s still so early so not saying anything at the moment. I haven?t had morning sickness yet, dreading that stage! When did you start with it?

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday relaxing x

Hi im laura im 23 and im 6weeks pregnant today, ive just recieved my 12 week scan appointment through the post bt im terrifed as i had a missed miscarriage on 28th july this year and didnt reach my 12week scan, HELP x

GeordieCherry · 02/10/2012 18:43

Hi Laura! Would it put your mind at rest to pay for an early scan? Smile

infamousmrsjones · 02/10/2012 23:28

Hi Laura congrats on your pregnancy Smile I'm only 4 weeks and am worrying about miscarriage too. Think it's natural for everyone, but the more you think about it, the more you worry and you need to stay strong and healthy for your baby hun. Good luck with the scan, I'm sure it will be fine Smile. An early scan, like Geordie suggested sounds like a good idea x

GeordieCherry · 03/10/2012 15:20

Ah yes, relaxation!

It was everyone's top tip when we were TTC, and now for keeping the blueberry in place... Easier said than done. I'm an even worse knicker checker after my friend's MC. I had some stomach pains last night & quite freaked out!

Acupuncture defo helps with chilling out. Even if it's only for an hour a fortnight, it really helps.

I'm ok so far I'm happy to say but I will be much more at ease after I've seen the MW and even more after had our 12 week scan.

Feeling very sick atm. All day but worse first thing and in the evening. Eating boring plain carbs is the best thing for it, and tea with full fat milk

Going to leave work early for working from home lying down. Lying down is my favourite thing just now!

laurajane89 · 03/10/2012 15:57

I was thinkin about paying for an early scan but this pregnancy seems different (in a good way) so im just goin to stay positive and wait for my scan next month

laurajane89 · 03/10/2012 16:00

Hi ladies, wen did u all start getting sickness?

GeordieCherry · 04/10/2012 19:41

Think the sickness started pretty much straight away, maybe second week after I'd tested on the Tuesday

It's defo got worse... Keep thinking of it being a good sign!

Managed to eat a bit more tonight which is good news as I've got a mega early start tomorrow. Glad it's the weekend, but got tons to do... Early nights all round & it's the proper start of Strictly Grin

GeordieCherry · 05/10/2012 17:06

Got my flu jab today & did the form for free dental & prescriptions Smile

No jabs for Manila til second trimester, should be ok for our last-proper-hol-before-baby, but the nurse will check on Monday.

Booked in for 12 November anyway Smile

How's everyone?

GeordieCherry · 07/10/2012 19:59

Sunday dinner without red wine. Weird. Love the weekends with no hangover though Smile

laurajane89 · 08/10/2012 16:53

I am 7weeks and i feel soooo sick bt havent been sick, should i be worried?

Paradisefound · 08/10/2012 17:47

Dating scan tomorrow ( tuesday ) morning .... Wish I could be excited, but I'm terrified!

GeordieCherry · 08/10/2012 17:55

Why terrified Paradise?

I've not been sick either, just felt very sick. Worst first thing & late afternoon before tea. It peaks at 9 weeks apparently. I'm 8 weeks tomorrow & it's defo getting worse. It's a sign the hormones are doing their job so trying to embrace it. The tiredness can sod off though! Wink

Told work today which has been on my mind. We're at our busiest in April & summer. I'm due 21 May Blush

They were lovely Grin Feels even more real now Smile

GeordieCherry · 10/10/2012 07:20

Might need to upgrade a size on these jeggings, these ones are getting a bit squashy & it's making the sickness worse

Midwife on Monday, can't wait!

GeordieCherry · 14/10/2012 09:47

Midwife tomorrow. Cannot flippin wait!

Been feeling more & more sick the last few days/ weeks. Looking forward to that subsiding.

Just catching up with last night's Strictly, missed it because we were at my friends' new tattoo shop opening yesterday. DP told another couple of mates at the party, he's hilarious! We'd agreed not to til we get the all clear. He was pissed & excited though Wink

Fairy130389 · 14/10/2012 22:13

Hi Girls!!!!!!!!!!
Just found out I'm pregnant! (5 tests later as didn't believe it!!!!) I am now obsessively googling (in between 5 minutely toilet breaks - can't stop weeing!) Other than weeing, not had too many symptoms yet - although have had worse flu of my life!!!!! Even though we were trying I still feel a bit wierd about it - I think it's all the stuff you hear about mc in early preg?!

Anyway - AF was due 4 days ago so not sure how pregnant I am = NHS website says about 4 weeks but need to go to docs to confirm. What happens next???? xx

forgetmenots · 14/10/2012 23:15

Hello!
Have my first gp appointment tomorrow and not really sure what to expect...think I'm 5 weeks 5 days and getting dull twinges in lower abdomen. Googling has told me this is normal (what I wanted to hear!) but I'm fretting so much! Really, really sore boobs and need to graze on food constantly. Just told my folks and they are over the moon, I just hope so much that everything is OK. Nausea is there and comes and goes, but feels more like travel sickness or something - no actual throwing up!
Can't wait to get the scan out of the way!

infamousmrsjones · 14/10/2012 23:36

Evening ladies been so busy lately hardly get to come on atm! Just had our 6-week scan a few days ago was such a relief to know baby is fine and his or her heart is beating! Can?t wait for next one!! Smile

Geordie ? I know exactly what you mean got a friend who?s recently had a miscarriage so it?s automatic that you worry along with that we have a lot of fertility problems in our family, my sister was still born and there?s been quite a lot of miscarriages so it?s quite scary for me too. A friend of mine who went through a lot of ivf has nothing positive to say about my pregnancy and continues to warn me about miscarriages as she had several and never managed to produce a child in end, unfortunately, but of course you worry enough about miscarriages, etc. anyway you just don?t need reminding of it!!! sounds like acupuncture is working well for you. hope the sickness fades off soon. It?s very strange not having wine with meals isn?t it! it can only be a good thing for our health and brilliant with no hangover but weird adjusting to all these changes haha. Glad your work reacted well about your pregnancy, I?m dreading telling mine! Planning on telling them at 9 weeks, so got about 3 weeks to go yet. I?ll have had two scans by then so will feel more comfortable, but would prefer to wait until 12 weeks if I could just to be sure! Bless DP telling people at the party, he must be so excited. Good luck with the midwife tomorrow. Smile

Laura ? that?s great news that your pregnancy feels different this time round. Good luck throughout your pregnancy hun. I don?t know how some people can manage to relax and enjoy their pregnancy I and everyone else on here I?ve spoke to can?t help but worry haha. Can?t wait to hold a healthy child in my arms! Def don?t think it?s a bad sign if you feel nauseous but haven?t been sick it seems completely normal hun. Still no sickness for me so praying I don?t get it, full of cold and very sore throat so could do without sickness too. So far haven?t been able to take anything for sore throat does anyone know if there is anything you?re allowed to take when pregnant? It seems there?s so many things you?re not allowed. Smile

Paradise ? enjoy your scan at least you?ll know everything?s alright and get to see your baby. I get that it?s worrying until they confirm everything?s fine but try not to worry you don?t need the anxiety. Smile

Fairy ? congrats on your pregnancy! if I remember rightly the pregnancy officially starts from the date of your last period weirdly so you probs will be just over 4 weeks. Contact your doctor who will kickstart everything, other than that check out websites like this one and nhs for advice on what you can and can?t eat, etc. get a book if you can, we bought one which is day-by-day and shows pictures of what your baby looks like every day, the exact size of the baby every week and so on. Just make sure that if you get a book you get a recent book if possible as the guidelines change a lot. Other than that just relax and take it easy, obviously cut out smoking and drinking, etc. and you?ll be fine. Smile

Hope everyone?s well xx

GeordieCherry · 16/10/2012 15:41

Fairy, Forgetmenot - stop googling! Midwife said yesterday do not google, it will make you worry. Go to the NHS site and leave it at that.

I reckon you're pretty safe on here too, but remember each pg is a very personal thing

Midwife has referred me to a consultant as I've had 2 biopsies/ loop excisions on my cervix and might need a stitch, yuck

So, now I have my MW notes and we had a staff meeting about what we do about my ML at work (I'm the only one doing my job) it's definitely more real Grin

Still feeling super sick, but managing to eat a bit more in the day Smile

Fairy130389 · 16/10/2012 21:05

Hi all - I think I'm going a bit loopy - I have just had to do another test as I had convinced myself I wasn't preg (we did 4 tests before!!) obv result was pos but it just doesn't feel real!! I am also having to out a ban on googling - it is sort of taking over my life haha! Is anyone else as nervous as me? I just feel like I'm waiting for something to go wrong!! I've been having a bit of period pain, is that ok? Sorry about this, I'm sure I'll feel better after I've seen the doc!! Hope you're all well and not being plagued by too many symptoms! Xxx
