Sorry this is totally self indulgent and not very interesting for you guys, but would you mind casting a vote on the two options that dh and I have narrowed it down to for our expected ds (due April). Its between:

Scott Spencer Roberts
or
Spencer Scott Roberts

If you don't like either then do say...

Thanks

That's a great idea Twinkie. I love all the boys names we have talked about so far so i could try that.

Although, i know i would end up feeling bad if he truely hated the name - could my conscience put up wuth the pressure

Tips to get DP or DH to agree to a name - wait for that moment just after a long grim birth experience when he says you're wonderful and he'll do anything for you and have your name request ready. It's the only time my DP ever said that to me, I agree with Twinkie it's hard to refuse you at that point.

I have an Iona. (DP likes that it's the surnames we argue over still)

SpringChicken · 06/01/2004 11:01

No, i meant if Dp truely hated the name Freya but i picked it by being sneaky saying he could chose the boys name (Cos i know i like them all ) and i would chose the girls name.

Not my cup of tea i'm afraid Twinkie.

Think i might give it a try and see what his response is at the time.

I like Aurelia or Christabel as girls names. I like Violet, but think it might be about to be the new Ruby. I also like Oscar but already know three little Oscars. I like Vivien because it's usual at the moment, as is Audrey, while I'm on the subject of beautiful actresses. I think I gave my name away there, but then quite a few people know it anyway and I don't mind.
Thalia (pronounced Tah-lia) is the ancient Greek muse of comedy, and I think it is very pretty, but also getting quite popular.

aloha · 06/01/2004 11:37

I meant UNusual, of course.

Other Greek muse/goddess names:
Gaia, Clio, Demeter, Persephone, Hesta, Artemis, Aphrodite, and um, Urania!

pie · 06/01/2004 11:45

I love love love Artemis or Artemisia

elena2 · 06/01/2004 11:48

LOVE Thalia.

Also like Emilia (a friend's little girl is called this and gets shortened to 'Millie', which I'm not so keen on).

Artemis is on my shortlist. also Calista, Calypso, Cacia, Calliope, Ignacia, Viola, Saskia, Zephyr, Electra, Charis, Tatiana, Indigo.

I must be in a minority on this board I like Scott better than Spencer.

zebra · 06/01/2004 12:08

I think of Zephyr as a boy's name (knew one, years ago), rest as girl's names...!

Twinkie - don't think anyone is meaning to offend anyone else by saying they like/dislike certain names. I just think Emilia is such a lovely name, it seems a shame to shorten it!

I think Zephyr can be unisex. did the Zephyr you know like the name or curse his parents?

Greek names are traditional, if you're Greek! (not that I am)

Tissy · 06/01/2004 12:22

Aloha, what's wrong with Ruby? Has it become really common? I gave that name to my dd 2 years ago, after a much-loved childhood babysitter of mine, and no-one at the maternity hospital had come across it for years and years.
