I was going to join the other one but those luck ladies have had thier babies and are now talking all things newborn Envy.

So join me if you are fat and getting somewhat fed up!

I am 36+4 and a scan on Monday showed that DS is already weighing around 7lb 3 Shock. For that reason alone I'm hoping he puts in an appearance soon. Previous DC's have been 40+1, 39 and 39 and 7lb6, 8lb13 and 8lb12.5 so not so sure why this one is estimated to be so big!

Evening fatties- Im 38+3, and have today enjoyed a whole new symptom in the form on insane itching everywhere. Ive had my blood tested to check its not the scary coliosis thing, and it's not, so left wondering what might be the cause and whether anyone has any tips to calm it down?
I haven't asked him but am sure it can only be further enhancing my general attractiveness to my husband- farting, puffing, and now with added scratching, I feel like a Victorian brothel madame :)

tangledtights · 19/05/2012 22:53

aargh, well I'm 11 days over today and totally fed up. Have had my show today, blood and everything. yay! Had a grumbly tummy and lower back pain all day with some sharp contraction pain every now and again. Packed my other 2 DC off to grannies and then nothing. Nowt. Aaargh. What do I need to do!!

Commutinghell · 19/05/2012 23:18

Ooh tangled it does sound like you're nearly there! So exciting! Grin

used2bthin · 19/05/2012 23:22

Ah ok will get some RLT, seem to remember having it with DD1 but not sure if I drank enough of it-if I did it didn't work but worth a try as I get cloder to due date.

On the sex thing-I now have period type pains presumably as a result, they are quite uncomfortable and I can feel a lot of pressure but they are all over the place so not the real deal. Last time I had sex I had cramps after for hours too but thank fully nothing came of it (Blush that was a good couple of weeks ago so would've been too early)

used2bthin · 19/05/2012 23:25

tangledtights poor you, it must happen soon. My labbour with DD started very much like that, in fact I had regular contractions after the show over night that were getting worse then I went to bed and they stopped for a few hours while I slept! But did start again the next day when my waters also broke. So it doesn't mean things aren't starting.

StarlightMcKenzie · 19/05/2012 23:33

You must eat dates, - as I said Grin

karatekimmi · 20/05/2012 07:07

Well last nights curry didn't have any effect, other than the bedroom stinking!!! Going to be gardening today, would love to walk, but my feet keep swelling up (had it checked out, just need to keep feet up).

I think I have some dates in the baking cupboard somewhere, I'll have them with my yogurt for breakfast!

cupcakefairy · 20/05/2012 07:59

Ladies can I join you? 40+4 today and really fed up.. went to 40+17 with my ds & really don't want to be induced this time..have had a few random tightenings but nothing significant :(

All made more annoying by the fact the dating scan put my edd as 9th so I'm 40+11 by official dates & have to meet with consultant tomorrow where I'll be pleading my case to go by my date (i know I'm right, I've charted my cycles for years)
Would be most ideal if could go into labour today.. come on baby! Hope you're all feeling ok today.

SwivelHips · 20/05/2012 09:45

There is no way I'm eating dates...bleurghhh even the thought of them makes me want to heave.

lady you're my symptom twin, its only my legs that are itchy but they didn't want me to go in because I'm so far gone. Its just my hormones apparently. I keep meaning to buy acquas (?) cream but can't be arsed

Good luck today to those ladies that are ready to go, I'm 39wks today but fancy a couple of days at home so I'm keeping my legs crossed for a bit longer.

ladyparking · 20/05/2012 21:32

I also am "too busy" to be buying any new creams at this stage (FFS!) but I did repurpose some old aloe vera gel by putting it in the freezer for ten minutes before applying, seemed to work for a few hours.
Depending on where you live the sun is due out for the next 5 days so that's reasons to be cheerful if late.
Ever the optomist :)

Commutinghell · 20/05/2012 23:49

I can't stand dates but willing to try. Had a curry tonight and some pineapple. I don't even think I'm close, my bump doesn't even look low. Sad how is everyone getting on? Any more signs of labour for anyone?

SwivelHips · 21/05/2012 04:08

Labour no. UTI, thrush an constipation a big yes. I've had some period type cramp in the night (hence sitting here in the middle of the night freezing my bollox off drinking RLT) but I think its related to everything else. I had to get up before I killed DH as he's sound asleep and really bugging me.
Flipping heck the weather forecast does looks amazing for the next few days, I feel sorry for the neighbours already, inflicting this on them Wink
commuting my bump still up somewhere near my neck, cant wait for it to drop so I can breath again.
Painkillers kicking in now so might trot off back to bed...

Commutinghell · 21/05/2012 05:28

Oh dear, I feel for you swivel. luckily I'm not suffering from anything painful, but the insomnia is a nightmare. I'm also just settling down with a RLT. Are you doing anything to encourage your bump to drop? I've been googling all the things that should work but they don't seem to.

BlueCrane · 21/05/2012 05:43

Morning all...38+6 here and getting a tad fed up...just had to get up and have some food as I was ravenous but now daren't go back to bed for fear of the heartburn that will ensue if I lie down too soon after eating, but am soooo tired I really want to sleep again..grrrr...

Twitchy legs and itching bump also back after a respite of a week or so and have been super emotional for the last few days with some periody type cramps but at MW app last thurs LO was still freely roaming in there and not engaged at all...grrrr....just want to get on with this now!

used2bthin · 21/05/2012 07:14

Ooh what areas is the weather good in? South East? Must get RLT today. DD having problems at school so am feeling I need my extra couple of weeks to sort it out now.

My bump sort of did drop but now is high again?! Baby back to back and was 2/5 engaged but apparently can move in and out and not engage till last min with second + pregnancies.

Keep getting period cramps at night, woke up this morning thinking oh my period must be able to start then remembered the huge baby in my tummy!

jessebuni · 21/05/2012 07:44

Hi ladies! (or large, round, waddling and complaining people that used to be ladies if you're anything like me)

Can I join in? I'm 37 weeks today and I need to get this baby out by 40 weeks! I know EDDs are just that estimated but for medical reasons they will either induce me or give me a c section if I haven't had the baby a couple of days after my due date and after having a perfectly natural birth with no inducing pain relief etc with my first pregnancy I want to avoid induction and c sections (also due to the fact I have a toddler so c section would be pretty inconvienient!

Basically curry isn't going to cut it because I eat quite a lot of really hot food anyway so it'd take something pretty extreme to affect my stomach and get the baby going. So I was wondering if you ladies had any ideas!

jessebuni · 21/05/2012 07:46

Also for those of you who have had growth scans telling you you're having a huge baby try not to panic too much! I had a growth scan at 34 weeks with my first after measuring 5 weeks too big and they said he was 6lbs so they reckoned he'd be over 10lbs! 10lbs!!! They threw all my plans for a home birth or birthing centre birth out the window and said basically if I can have a natural birth I'll be lucky!

I did have a natural birth, zero complications and he was 8lbs2 1/2 so not even close to 10lbs!

SwivelHips · 21/05/2012 09:05

Don't forget I'm the queen of that bloody ball and sit on it for way over an hour in the night...and I do figure 8's and all sorts of stuff. I asked my consultant about good posture to avoid back to back and she said there's no scientific evidence to suggest that any of the things we read about will work. I asked my consultant midwife the same question and he said the opposite. So I'm none the wiser and not stressing about it too much. My friend gave birth to her first last month and the head only engaged during labour - and it was a very fast one in fact she nearly gave birth in the back of the taxi

I've got the period type cramps too, dont know if that means anything is starting? I'm linking them to this blasted urine infection but if there's a few of us ...
Jesse the only other thing I was told was hand expressing colostrum to get the old hormones going...I've never looked into it in any depth though. I've been doing it since wk 37 so we'll see.

jessebuni · 21/05/2012 09:32

The period tyre cramps are probably from the neck of your womb starting to efface etc. ready for labour and maybe even your babies hopping in and out of being engaged. I had them the last few weeks with my son and started having them about a week ago with this one.

SwivelHips - I think if I expressed properly I could get half a bottle already! I've been leaking since before 20 weeks. I had LOADS of milk with my son and was donating the extra to the neonatal unit local to me. This time I've got even more and they literally fire off streams of milk when I step into the shower! I'm sure my partner has been finding me less and less attractive with each passing month lol

ladyparking · 21/05/2012 10:16

Im having period cramps too, which I'm putting down to the curry I'm mainlining (its an excuse really, I love curry, I don't think it's going to make the slightest bit of difference to arrival date). I had a wet patch in bed this morning, most excited, thought it was my waters, husband accused me of wetting the bed, I furiously denied it maintaining I did at least have some dignity remaining, midwife had to intervene and say it was neither, more likely a sign of "cervical ligament softening", ie good, but not quite the full opening ceremony. Hmm.... I think she's appeasing me....
Jesse my hospital deemed me too dangerous for home or late delivery on account of being "obstetrically geriatric" at 41. I told them to fuck off and am having baby at home with an independent midwife :)

Commutinghell · 21/05/2012 10:24

Morning all. Period type cramps sound positive! Jack shit here Sad. The only thing I've heard actually works is castor oil. Two of my friends took it and it worked every time. Apparently it gives you the raging shits for about an hour, and then a few hours later labour starts. If you google it there are warnings about it though, so for me it will be a last resort but I think I will do that rather than be medically induced. I'm off to buy more RLT today too, and lots more walking, ooh and a pineapple for breakfast. Fingers crossed for some good news from one of us today Wink

Commutinghell · 21/05/2012 10:28

Oh my goodness lady, I am outraged for you Angry 'geriatric'?! Bastards. Good for you for telling them where to stick it. Has your independent midwife mentioned castor oil? My friend's told her to take it to avoid induction so she could give birth at home.

jessebuni · 21/05/2012 10:32

ladyparking - brilliant! i REALLY want a home birth this time. the reason i can't be late is because the placenta etc starts to deteriorate from somepoint after 40 weeks and i have a desease called aplastic anaemia which they can cure using the cord blood or whatever so they need it to be in top condition.

and the leakage could be almost anything at this point! between excess discharge and the baby pushing your bladder down to the size of a walnut! there is NO dignity after having a baby. When my waters broke with my first preg it felt like I was wetting myself and couldn't stop it because obviously holding it in wouldn't work because it's not coming from the same place but it wasn't a pleasant feeling at all. I'm not looking forward to the feeling a second time to be honest.

jessebuni · 21/05/2012 10:34

see the only problem i've heard with caster oil is that it should really be a last resort because not only does it give you the shits but you could be like that for as little as an hour or the whole way through your labour! messy and unpleasant! my friend tried it and it not only worked on her but also on the baby meaning because the baby pooped inside her and there was a chance that he'd swallowed it as well so he had to go to hospital for a few days after her having her nice homebirth anyway!

McKayz · 21/05/2012 10:51

My MW said never ever take Caster oil. It can cause loads of problems, like the runs and then you have no energy and are dehydrated, it can make the baby ill too. Not worth it in my opinion.
