I was going to join the other one but those luck ladies have had thier babies and are now talking all things newborn Envy.

So join me if you are fat and getting somewhat fed up!

I am 36+4 and a scan on Monday showed that DS is already weighing around 7lb 3 Shock. For that reason alone I'm hoping he puts in an appearance soon. Previous DC's have been 40+1, 39 and 39 and 7lb6, 8lb13 and 8lb12.5 so not so sure why this one is estimated to be so big!

Hey swivel, fellow loser here. No batch cooking for me. Too busy trying to evict baby, no time to think about what will happen when she arrives. Oh, and just so you all know- 6 hours of walking, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea and a litre of tonic water yesterday. None of these things work, I don't even have braxton hicks. Sad

AmethystMoon · 19/05/2012 09:01

Hello can I join too. 35 weeks and don't want LO to arrive just yet but lurking for all your tips for a few week's time when I do Grin

SwivelHips · 19/05/2012 10:37

Commuting I heartily recommend a UTI to get things moving downstairs, I had severe BH but mind I also thought my ass was going to fall out so perhaps not. I'm very jealous of your 6 hours of walking, I can't walk to the bottom of our street without needing a wee or some other ailment kicking in. I haven't started on the tonic water yet, seems a strange drink without gin or vodka mixer but I'll give it a go. I only started on the raspberry yesterday, its a bit tasteless tho...I should have started weeks ago

Hi Amethyst...welcome. These last few weeks have flown in for me, enjoy them you sprightly thing Smile

Commutinghell · 19/05/2012 11:32

You're right, tonic water is crap without gin. Doesn't bloody work anyway Sad. I'm off to walk some more... Not sure I'm desperate enough to want a UTI to get things going Wink

McKayz · 19/05/2012 11:36

Unless tonic water works for all of you I'm not touching it. It's disgusting. One week and 5 days until I'm 37 weeks. Then I'll be trying everything but sex and tonic water.

SilverSage · 19/05/2012 11:37

Agreed that tonic water doesn't work. I'd never heard of it bringing on labour before, and so have been drinking it daily since about 27 weeks, as our antenatal class teacher said it was good at preventing leg cramps, which I was really suffering with. Leg cramps are much better, but obviously no sign of baby! Had a midwife appointment and she said the head was still free. Very disappointed. :(

McKayz · 19/05/2012 11:43

I hadn't heard of tonic water doing anything until this thread.

Commutinghell · 19/05/2012 11:46

Aargh currently walking up and downstairs sideways. Any evidence this works? Feel like a right wally. My dog thinks I've gone mad. DH hasn't noticed yet...

SwivelHips · 19/05/2012 12:33

Hats off to you for getting up the stairs full stop never mind sideways. I'd have collapsed by now. If you google it loads of stuff comes up, dont know about official stats though.
I'm wondering if I can replace tonic water with soda water then throw some lime in there, that would be nice and just as likely to work Keep at it - we're all watching your progress Smile

Wants3 · 19/05/2012 13:05

Hi, I am 40+2 and was early with my previous pregnancies so it feels soooo much longer! I am just uncomfortable now and want this baby out.|

:)

hippieshake · 19/05/2012 13:10

Just been for a 6 mile walk, now bouncing on my birthing ball, also had three raspberry leaf capsules so far today. I don't think she wants to come out x

McKayz · 19/05/2012 13:25

6 miles?? How on earth did you manage that?? Wow I struggle to do the school run which is a 2 mile round trip.

hippieshake · 19/05/2012 13:28

I've been walking my whole pregnancy so I've kept really active... which probably means it wont help kick start my labour at all now!

How long are you supposed to bounce on your birthing ball for? I get bored after about 10 mins haha :)

SwivelHips · 19/05/2012 14:54

I hate the birthing ball, I'm intending to burst the bugger as soon as this is all over. I can manage about an hour, I know it annoys DH though as I usually sit and bounce in front of the tv Grin

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 19/05/2012 15:03

I'm doing the only thing a pregnant women should be doing-lounging in the bath Grin!!

But I have just driven (Shock) a 240 mile round trip to my mothers and back! So I think I'm entitled! If driving bought labour on he'd defo be here by now!

I am at the NEC all day tomorrow-half hoping my waters break on the way home Grin.

Fair play to the poster who walked 6 miles-I can't manage that when I'm NOT pregnant Blush. My car has made me lazy Blush.

Commutinghell · 19/05/2012 15:05

Ugh I'm clearly totally underdoing the birthing ball, I get bored after 10 mins. Just walked for another 3 hours, lots of big hills and hardcore steps. Oh and I went on a zip wire. Totally unhelpful but I enjoyed it. Right, more raspberry leaf tea and will try to bounce for a bit longer on the ball this time.

Kveta · 19/05/2012 15:14

I just hauled half of a flat pack bed upstairs whilst 'D'H played a game on the PS3. Am now lounging around whilst he takes the rest of it aloft.

Is anyone else in a vile mood? My eyebrows may never unfurrow after today, am an absolute fury. Not helped by a fuckwit in the car park this morning watching me approach my car, then leaning out of the window and saying 'can you hurry up, we want that space'. I nearly turned him to stone with my look, then did a massive go-slow getting shopping into the car, then DS settled, then folding the pushchair and loading it. Grr.

no birthing ball here (DS would break a limb on it, I just know he would), but am doing as much gentle walking as possible. May get a curry tonight, as flat pack bed looks like it will take whole afternoon to assemble, and I cannot be arsed with cooking after that.

right, must go and frown some more at my family, in case they mistakenly think I'm in a good mood after all.

TangleStash · 19/05/2012 18:43

Six miles! Bloody hell I am impressed. I feel good when I've done 2, at least having dogs has made sure I've been doing that most days. Although this morning it was more of a waddle than a walk...I've been trying to be on the birth ball for an hour each day, mostly while watching The Bridge or The Wire. And although I've not ridden my horse since November I am beginning to consider a quick canter to get things moving...
Oh I am in a totally vile mood as well. My mother keeps ringing with 'helpful' suggestions and I must admit to being a teeny bit short with her...(guilt ridden face).

McKayz · 19/05/2012 18:47

I feel like I've spent all day on the toilet. I know needing a wee regularly is very normal in pregnancy but this is taking the mick now!

Commutinghell · 19/05/2012 19:46

Yup, feeling the anger. If it's any consolation, I'd be delighted if my mum gave me any tips... Or showed any interest at all to be honest. I've refused to go out this evening. DH is in a right strop with me about it. As if I give a shiny shite. Added nipple stimulation to my list of things to try. Still nothing. Nonsense.

StarlightMcKenzie · 19/05/2012 19:50

I'm 37 or 38, - something like that Hmm. Figured it was about time I started taking some folic acid. SO in denial about the whole thing. Doesn't help I don't have a midwife, although managed to speak to the head of the homebirth team last night who answered her phone whilst off duty for some reason and just said if I go into labour to just call up and say I'm having a homebirth, despite not even being booked into the hospital Hmm

StarlightMcKenzie · 19/05/2012 19:51

SilverSage, there are very little medical reasons for induction. You don't ever HAVE to be induced.

I can't think of a single reason why I would agree to it tbh. It looks barbaric.

used2bthin · 19/05/2012 20:59

I'm 37 plus 2 and am also in denial. Torn between enjoying the last bit-DD at school so I get mon to fris school hours to myself but also am fed up nnow and want things to get moving.

Have got period crampy type pains this evening but not regular or contraction like.

Am also in a terrible mood although somehow have more patience with DD than usual-perhaps becasue I am not at work now so less stressed. This doesn't extend to DH though Grin or anyone else for that matter.

Doesn't raspberry tea help with a faster labour rather than bringning labour on?

SilverSage · 19/05/2012 21:55

RLT is supposed to help "tone the uterus", supposedly making contractions more efficient and less painful during labour. I started drinking it at 32 weeks, and by 34 weeks my braxton hicks had got so bad that I was googling signs of early labour. So I stopped it, but I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, so operation evict baby started tonight, with at least an hour of bouncing on the gym ball in front of the tv, RLT and sex. Someone said that you'd need to do it about 40 times to get the same amount of hormone that you get from the pessary they give you when you're being induced, but I thought what the hell, it can't hurt to try! Tomorrow I shall be going to the shops (on foot) to buy some clary sage oil.
