Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

congrats sweetkitty - I am so jealous, although of course I will love my boy, a girl this time to shop for would have been nice. I won't be as cruel as my grandmother who wanted a girl so much she dressed my dad in pink until he started school!!!!! Fortunately he has turned out sane!!!!
Am struggling having gone back to work, tired permanently and have had serious headaches - hormone related I guess - for the past week which means the nausea has returned. Unfortunately I don't enjoy being pregnant and am jealous of people who thrive on it - will be glad when it's all over. (Of course then I'll be moaning about being sleep deprived etc - think smiley)
We are away for easter so won't be posting for at least a week - have a good easter everybody and take care - keep well.

Nice to hear from you Sibble, and sorry you're having a grim time. Happy Easter to you and yours anyway!

Podmog - hope scan goes well - keeping fingers crossed for you! Don't forget to post later.

sweetkitty · 07/04/2004 10:07

podmog - I am just too nosy I had to know, don't think I'll be able to keep it a secret either. Would have been easier if it was a boy as we had decided on boys names, we are still arguing over girls ones.

Let us know how you get on today - best of luck. I was really nervous yesterday too.

SpringChicken · 07/04/2004 10:12

Congratulations Sweetkitty Lovely news.
I would love to know whether we are having a boy or a girl but think i would be dissappointed in myself if i found out!

Toyiba - noticed you are from Luton - I am too. Hope your not having too much of a rough time of it at the mo! Contact me through "Contact another talker" if you need someone to talk to.

littlerach · 07/04/2004 10:18

Good luck, Podmog, let us know!!

stace · 07/04/2004 11:43

hi everyone, nice to hear the good news and hugs to those that arent feeling great. I had my scan last week and as dp and i could not agree on whether to find out the sex or not we asked them to write it down and put it in our notes in case we wanted to know later. To our suprise when we left they handed us an envelope with the answer in.

We havent opened it yet and dont know if we will!!

But its such a wind up in my handbag right now!!!

dinosaur · 07/04/2004 11:44

Oh my God stace! I would not be able to resist opening it! DH would have to take the envelope away from me and hide it!

SpringChicken · 07/04/2004 12:14

Stace - how on earth are you managing not to look ?

I would have to have a quick peek - got no will power with things like that!

stace · 07/04/2004 13:33

we keep winding each other up about it (in a jokey way) cos niether of us is really really convicted about knowing!!! but it is a little devil thing in my bag:0

I keep telling him that unless he does so and so i will open it or it have phoned him and told him that i have a lighted match to it now!!!

Which is the devil i wonder:0

stace · 07/04/2004 13:33

cant seem to do those smiley faces oh i am stupid i just bothered to look at it property ;O

SpringChicken, I have sent you a message through 'Contact another talker'.

Podmog, How was your scan, did you find out the sex? I had my fingers crossed for you.

stace, if that was me i would have opened the envelope by now. I don't have the will power to keep myself from peeking.

sibble, sorry to hear you're feeling down. but as they say 'no pain no gain'. Hope you feel better soon.

I have a question for any1. I am now 21+3 weeks, but i still don't feel anything, i.e. no kicking or anything. Is that normal or should i be concerned?

littlerach · 07/04/2004 19:40

Glad it went ok, Podmog, have you told DDs about it being a boy?
Low lying placentas often move as you grow, I believe, if they don't then I guess it depends on how low it is. I think they rescan you until quite late, to check whre it is.
Make sure yo take it easy with your bp.

sweetkitty · 07/04/2004 20:13

great news podmog! I hope the next scan goes well for you fingers crossed.

I don't get kicks just little bubbles in my stomach it's great.

I know it's easier said than done Podmog, but try not to worry too much - I was sent off for these glucose tests with DS2 but it turned out there wasn't a problem, so hopefully yours will be nothing either.

I've also got to go for another scan at 32 weeks as the placenta is low, but I was told that it is quite normal for it to be low at 20/21 weeks and so not to worry about it now. 'Fraid I haven't got any more info than that.

Toyiba - my pregnancy book indicates that it is normal not to start feeling baby movements until Week 22 so given that your scan was okay, I wouldn't be too concerned. Again I know it's easier said than done though.

Thinking of you all,

Hugs,

Dinosaur

Podmog, I'm the same as you. Blood tests showed higher than normal blood sugar so I'm having a glucose test at the end of April. Not nervous about the actual test which just involves drinking some lucazade, but I am quite nervous about the result. I had no problem at all with DD so I'm pretty phased by anything out of the ordinary and apparently if you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes it means strict diet which I'm not good at (I don't eat many sweets etc but apparently you have to limit things like fruit because of high sugar levels and I eat masses of fruit). However I've heard of lots of people who've had this test and it's been found to be nothing so fingers crossed fo us both.
Incidentally I haven't had a single urine test since I first went to my doctor at about 7 weeks (now 23+1). Last time they were forever dipping sticks in my wee. Is this normal?
I've also got a low lying placenta. They are re-scanning at 34 weeks. As I understand it this is just a quick check to make sure it's moved up. Apprently they nearly always do later in pregnancy as everything stretches. Good luck witht this one too but it seems as if it is inlikely to lead to intervention.

Hello All!

Back to work after my holiday and I'm feeling much better and more refreshed. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to check my BP again.... hopefully it's returned to normal, if not I'll be admitted to hospital for a bit of monitoring!

Hope everyone is well?

23+4.... and counting!

Hello everyone, not been on this thread for a while as my friend has been having a hellish time and thought she might have to have her baby early, no oxygen or something getting through, fingers crossed she should be induced this week, baby small though, scan reckons 4-5lb . After another friend losing her baby a few weeks ago, I feel 'guilty' for still being healthy and pregnant, am starting to worry over the smallest thing as well.

Had my second scan a few weeks ago, all well and dandy, pic is loads clearer than for dd as well, me and dh are sure its a boy, not sure why.

Feel like a whale though and only 22 weeks.

How is everyone else today?

dinosaur · 13/04/2004 11:02

Hiya all, I'm back at work today so back on mumsnet!
MN2T - glad you had a good holiday. How are things with DH?
Oliveoil - sorry to hear about your friends
I'm off to Ireland with DS1 for a few days tomorrow. "See" you all next week.

M2T · 13/04/2004 11:16

Hi Dino and OO! DH and I are getting along much better, the holiday and spending time together has really helped.

OO - How many weeks pg is your friends? My friend had her ds by emergency section at 34/35 wks. She had pre-eclampsia and the baby was in distress. He weighed only 4lb 12oz. However, he spent only 24hrs in a neonatal unit before being allowed onto the normal postnatal ward and they were both home 3 days later! So please please please try not to worry about your friends baby, at that weight they can be perfectly healthy. Fingers crossed for them both.

My bump has totally popped out in the last week! And I can feel the kicks much higher up now. I've been feeling very breathless which I'm assuming is the pressure on my diaphragm.

My headaches are still bad, I seem to wake up with one most mornings!

oliveoil · 13/04/2004 11:21

M2T - Glad to hear you and dh are ok, not been able to catch up for a few weeks as BT had a fire and all our phones were down, great for work, not for mumsnetting.

My friend is about 35 weeks but for the last 2 has had to have scans everyday as the baby wasn't growing, all is ok I think now but it just seems so small 5lb. Just sick of bad news everywhere I turn, feel like I am rubbing it in when I turn up glowing with health. My only complaint is heartburn and (maybe) stretchmarks.

Did you get your second scan? Sorry, not looked at all the posts

M2T · 13/04/2004 11:25

I'm sure she'll be okay OO. They'll pump her full of steroids to help the baby's lungs.

Yes I got my 2nd scan on the NHS! YEEEEEAAAAH!

Dates were fine, baby was fine, but couldn't tell the sex.

hi all

23+6 days (just in front of you m2t) glad you had a nice holiday.

I was 3 and a half pounds when I was born all those years ago and look at me now.

I spent the weekend spending a fortune on all baby girls clothes got some newborn and some 0-3 months. Keep peeking at them in the drawer. Don't worry I have kept all receipts just in case.
