M2T · 30/11/2003 22:22

Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

Hi everyone on this thread. I noticed Stace had said she felt "bruised" between legs. I've had that a couple of times. Really hard to explain - any ideas oh wise mumsnetters?

Judging by this thread I am expecting a huge expansion in bump over the next two weeks (am 18 weeks).

stace · 29/03/2004 14:18

Dinny the bruised feeling for me is like some bastard kicked me right up the with a hob nailed boot and i seem to get it every week or so for a couple of days at a time?

Sponge- i so agree it was more fun the first time round and its such a shock cos its supposed to be easier the 2nd time as you know what its all about but i guess we are all realising its not the same , he ho only x weeks to go

dinny · 29/03/2004 14:29

Yes, that's exactly it! Well described! Haven't had it for a while now. Any idea what it is?

It's not as much fun the 2nd time - people (esp dh) aren't as caring/don't make much fuss

sponge · 29/03/2004 15:05

In my case it's not really dh that's the problem, he's still pretty good, but at 40 I'm finding it all more tiring, and the main difference is that first time round you can be quite selfish, second time you've got the first one to look after. Just as well I love her to bits

sweetkitty · 29/03/2004 15:41

I put on 12lbs in the first 12 weeks and thought whoooo here we go but have stayed the same weight since then (i'm 21+5 today). My bump is growing like mad now I just keep sticking it out (first pregnancy)! Dragged DP into mothercare on Saturday and we picked a pram and actually bought some baby things ( I think it may be dawning on him now that we are having a baby)!

Using spot cream like mad to get rid of the acne on my back for the wedding on Sunday (I'm bridemaid not the bride!)

Toyiba · 29/03/2004 19:50

Hi everyone

Podmog, i hope you're coping well. it can be hard to keep your emotions hidden especisally when you are pregnant.
Well, i had my anomaly scan 2day. Although the baby's limbs were all intact, the mw said the the baby is small for its age. she did mention that it could be that my dates are incorrect.
i am noe 20+1 wks and have gained 1.5stones in weight. i feel huge but everyone else says i am fine.

dinosaur · 31/03/2004 09:54

Hi Toyiba, sorry to hear you are a bit worried after your scan Hang in there, fingers crossed everything is alright. When are you going to be rescanned?

I totally understand being worried about scans. I was pretty scared before my 20 week scan this time, because last time around with DS2, not only did they find he had clubfeet, they also saw something else that made them think he might have Edwards' Syndrome, so we had lots of worry and stress about that, although everything was okay in the end.

This time I am being rescanned at 32 weeks as the placenta is a bit low. Nothing's ever completely straightforward, is it?

Toyiba · 31/03/2004 17:08

hi dinosaur. thanx for the reassurance. the date for my rescan is on the 28th april.
it's taken a long time for me to conceive, i'v come this far i really don't want anything happening now. it would devastate me.

dinosaur · 31/03/2004 17:21

Aw Toyiba, will be keeping everything crossed for you xxxxxx

sweetkitty · 31/03/2004 20:19

Will also keep fingers crossed for you toyiba.

22 weeks today saw the midwife yesterday and what a change from the one I usually have. She talked me all through SPD (instead of not knowing what it was) she was really lovely and she found the heartbeat right away I could have listened to it all day!

sibble · 31/03/2004 20:55

Toyiba, hope the re-scan puts your mind at rest. With DS I was redated by 2 weeks (back) as he was small for dates which means I had a positive pregnancy test within a day or two of conceiving which I have never really understood. In fact I was at a conference when DS was conceived according to scan and the Dr asked DH if he was sure baby was his!!! Forutnately we knew he was but where one partner is jealous could have been tricky. What I am trying to say is scans are fantastic when they tell you what you want to see/hear but are so worrying when they hint at something being 'outside the norm' and you end up in the recall system. Fingers crossed for you.
Have my midwife appointment tomorrow and appointment with Dr's at same time to look at my cyst and various other problems!!
Was watching TV last night and this programme was going on about how even 1 drink in pregnancy could cause foetal alcohol syndrome etc and showed an 18 year old with it - so unecessary and upsetting when you are pregnant (did turn it over) but seeds of doubt had already been sown - havn't had a drink since +ve test and won't as had 2 drinks with DS and threw up violently - memory is enough to put me off - but did have wine before found out was pregnant as still can't work out how he was conceived!!!! God we have enough to worry about when pregnant we can do without the food police, drink police, exercise police etc. Dh is being really sweet but with al the bleeding 'won't' let me go swimming or do yoga - just in case. Will be quite glad to have my body back when have given birth.
Another thing - are people patting your bump yet - very weird to have strangers walk up and touch you - really not sure I am that comfortable with it.
Anyway enough rambling - hope everybody is well.

M2T · 01/04/2004 13:33

Toyiba - Good luck with your re-scan. I really don't think these radiographers appreciate how muchy they make you worry! It's incredibly insensitive. I'm sure it's all fine though.

Please please please can any of you help me. I had an antenatal appointment yesterday and saw the GP as the MW was too busy (!!). He discovered my BP is up, I have protein/blood in my urine, mild swelling in my ankles and for 2 wks now I've been getting horrible headaches that make me squint in daylight.

He was reluctant to let me go away on holiday, but said that as long as I took my notes with me and saw a GP of the headaches returned then I should be okay to go. It's only Berwick Upon Tweed...so not far.

How can this be happening at 22wks? I've started a thread about this, but noone seems to have had all these symptoms of pre-eclampsia so early on. The GP says if my BP hasn't fallen by the time I get back from holiday I will be admitted to hospital for closer monitoring.

No experience of it, but please try and relax and take it easy - not that simple, I know. Enjoy your holiday, am envious, Berwick is lovely!

dinosaur · 01/04/2004 14:21

Sorry to hear this M2T. I think you got some advice from Mears on your other thread?

There's always something, isn't there?

M2T · 01/04/2004 15:11

Thanks Littlerach and Dino. I just read Mears advice and have relaxed a bit now. Isn't she fab??

stace · 01/04/2004 17:04

M2T sorry to hear your news, i know its easier said than done but really really try to relaz and rest that it the most important thing!!!!

sibble · 01/04/2004 20:12

M2T hope things calm down, maybe your holiday will help, try not to stress (easier said than done I know). Thinking of you.

Toyiba · 01/04/2004 22:59

Thank you all of you for being concerned for me. I have been feeling extremely down since my scan. unfortunately my P isn't very caring at all as he didn't want the baby in the first place. Although he did get round to accepting it but he's very insensitive.
But friends & family have been very supportive as have you all too. And i greatly appreciate it.
M2T, i'm not quite sure what pre eclampsia is, but i have also been getting severe headaches and i'm at 20+4 weeks, but i thought that htey were normal during pregnancy. Sorry i can't be of much help.

dinosaur · 05/04/2004 11:01

Toyiba keep posting - we're all here for you.

littlerach · 05/04/2004 13:54

Toyiba, I had awful headaches when I was 18-19 wks, they stopped after a couple of wks. Get them checked if you are worried. I am sure that all the stress of your scan doesn't help!

sweetkitty · 05/04/2004 22:29
