Morning all Brew's all round :)

Liege07 That must all be be very wearing in you & your family,I really hope your Mum is back to her old self very soon :)

Very pleased to see all postive scans etc I have scan envy!!!!!!!! I want it now!!!!!!!

Had a lovely day yesterday, after work I visited my bezzie mate & her 1yr old dd who is majorly adorable & is starting to say a few jumbled indesipherable words,so had great fun with her :) Also visited my uncle as it was his 70th birthday,so I decided to tell him he was going to be a great uncle for the 5th time.He was over the moon & said it was the best birthday present he's ever had :) he then asked when we were getting married which made me lol (he's really oldschool). We then went out for dinner with my parents for step mum's birthday & had a lovely time there too. If only everyday could be lovely like that & not have to go to stupid work!!!!!

Apologies for the long post gals, this is what happens when I have a day away!!!!!! Grin

Zoeplankton · 23/03/2012 11:20

Liege07 - didn't read your post properly before. Mercy, that is a lot to have on your plate!

I imagine looking forward to both the wedding and the baby is giving your Mum a lot of strength, don't underestimate how much you're helping her just by living a life with so many happy events in it.

Send her some bridal mags to flip through, she'll feel included and they're nice and fluffy! There's never anything too challenging in a bridal magazine Smile

Zoeplankton · 23/03/2012 11:25

In other news - I am sick of feeling so sluggish, so tired. Sick of the bloating and sick of the discomfort. It's time for that to change. It's time for action.

It's time... for PRUNE JUICE.

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 11:34

Zoe I just gagged just thinking of prune juice. Off out to lunch in a moment, totally wasting my day off so far.

lisbethsopposite · 23/03/2012 11:35

Morning all - exciting news for me. I did not think I was constipated, but any way last night and this morning I had MASSIVE poos, and my muffin top has pretty much disappeared. I'm just back to my familiar little handles but nothing too bad.
I swam this morning, first time in a couple of weeks so I feel great.

Liege Sorry about your mum. I lived abroad for a few years and the miles do make you worry. Especially when pregnant, something as small as burnt toast can be stressful. I'm sure you are doing your part for her recovery by giving her something to look forward to, wedding and baby.

Velo · 23/03/2012 11:35

Smorgs - Yes I'm in Belgium and I have no idea how the system works. At the moment by regular care provider is the gynecologist. I think I get to choose where I give birth although we have to pay a contribution and different hospitals have different rates (although most of it is covered by insurance). DH and I don't have a car so we'll go to which ever hospital is the closest and where there is a chance of the staff speaking some English!! I'm in Brussels and we have an English speaking doctor which has a midwife attached to it + the Brussels Child Birth Trust to ante natal in English as well - haven't looked into it in too much detail yet. The big stress for us is actually trying to arrange childcare, there is a big shortage here and places are booked up even before people start TTC!

Good luck in France

Liege07 · 23/03/2012 11:42

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone :) I just spoke to Mum and she sounds much better today than yesterday and is very proud to have washed her hair and eaten a jacket potato, so I am feeling a lot more positive.

zoeplankton I think you are right, she was happy to hear I would be coming home next week for when she is out of the hospital (thought she would never have asked) I have some half finished bunting that she should be able to help with.. (if not help at least admire) otherwise we can plan some flower arranging which should be up-lifiting.. pff what a lot of worry.. to be honest I can't wait until everything is over so I can spend maximum time caring for my pregnancy... I am just so grateful all this happened now and not around the time of the birth because that would be much harder for us all to bear.

smogs I am also in Belgium but I couldn't tell you if things are similar to in France, here I went straight to the gynaecologist when I had got the positive test and got a scan during the consultation (5 weeks) and she said I should come back every month until I think the 3rd trimester at which point it is every 2 weeks! crazy! but nice to feel so cared for.. I have asked about antenatal classes at the commune and also at the gynaecologist's and they looked at me completely blankly so I am going to ask at the ONE which I think stands for Office de la naissance et enfance I suppose there is a similar one in France.. regarding where to have the birth my gynaecologist will follow me through the whole pregnancy and when I begin labour I should call her and she will come to the hospital for the delivery this means that I have to go to the hospital that she is affiliated with and that I have a particular insurance for (comes with DH's job) it's dead complicated so good to be informed early on.. I get the feeling birth is treated as a highly medical event which may not appeal to you there is also a midwife led unit (maison de naissance) that I could go to but there would be no doctors or gynaecologists thus no epidural etc. hope this helps.. (sorry for the long post.)

Thanks again for all the nice comments the day is beginning to look brighter and it is Friday which is good news! xxxx

Velo · 23/03/2012 11:46

Liege07 thanks for the added Belgium info! Here's the link t the Brussels Childbirth Trust in case its useful - they also have nearly new sales etc www.bctbelgium.com/

Velo · 23/03/2012 15:07

It's 16:07, I'm so tired! counting down the minutes until i can leave the office...

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 17:08

Velo make a run for it - it is lovely outside....

nenehooo · 23/03/2012 18:19

Hi ladies, don't know if anyone can offer any experience or advice on this... Went to gp for a weight check last night and he felt my stomach and found a lump. Thought it was my uterus at first - with twins in there but then listened for heartbeat and couldn't find anything. Felt again and said it wasn't my uterus but couldn't say what it was, so referred me for an urgent scan. Just waiting to hear from hospital now - haven't heard today so guess I'll have to wait til monday now. Trying not to worry but it's getting me sometimes. Has anyone else had/heard of this?

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 19:21

nenehooo no personal experience but there are lots of non sinister reasons to have a lump (cysts, water bubbles and the like) Last thing you need so the sooner they scan you the better. Sending you virtual squishes. Sorry have no expertise on this but didn't was to read post and run x

HaggisNeepsTatties · 23/03/2012 19:35

nenehooo I've not any experience of that either, but I really hope all is okay and that you get some reassurance soon

Hope everyone has had a good Friday and looking forward to the weekend.
I am missing alcohol for the first time today. We found out I was pregnant at the end of a holiday to South Africa and while we were away we had ordered some lovely wine to be delivered once we were back...it arrived today. I'm trying to persuade DH not to open it because I'm not sure I'll be able to resist!

OP posts:
Midgetm · 23/03/2012 19:47

Haggis I also fancied wine for the first time today. Also got a new delivery just as I found out up the duff which I have ignored till now but tonight it appears to be winking at me x

nenehooo · 23/03/2012 20:03

Thank you... I'm stuffing myself full of chocolate in bed and thinking positively, you girls have a glass of wine!

piggyboo · 23/03/2012 20:17

squid i didnt get a proper bump with first baby til i was 26 weeks so you may have a while to wait :) embarrassed to say i have one already second time round and not even 11 weeks yet. I weigh exactly the same as last time but my tummy muscles must have been weakened by last pregnancy.

liege my gran had the same thing 4 years ago she is absolutely fine now and has had no further probs.

nenehoo hopefully its just something as simple as constipation or a cyst, you're doing the best thing, chocolate and positivity work wonders (hug).

Had my booking appt today and embarrassingly started crying when asked about my first birth, must be the hormones, (lost a fair bit of blood but the birth itself wasn't even painful as i had an epidural so not sure why the crying??).

ellangirl · 23/03/2012 20:36

Nenehoo it might just be a cyst on your ovary, all sorts of weird things happen inside your abdomen when you're upduffed, so enjoy the chocolate and relax- you'll get to see your baby early! I can feel both of my ovaries still thanks to ivf stimulation drugs, but constipation doesn't help the lumpiness either Grin

For those not drinking, I can't offer a wine substitute, but Becks Blue alcohol free beer is really not bad. My DH will even drink it if he's driving so it can't be awful!

Liege I am glad things are looking a bit more positive about your mum today, she must be made up to have lots of lovely things to look forward to.

So pleased there's been lots of positive scan news. I too have 12 week scan envy even tho I've had 3! Had booking appointment today at 9+2 and I am really pleased to be included in mainstream antenatal care now after being under an ivf clinic for so long. Just want to get on with a normal pregnancy now!

squidkid · 23/03/2012 20:40

Home now! Had a nice last day at work, they gave me flowers... everyone was lovely. Going to catch the train to see a friend tomorrow and tell her I'm pregnant (she is sending me texts telling me to bring my trainers so we can go running - hah, well maybe I will go for a run and see what happens). Then me and the boy are off on a four day hike. The weather is supposed to be amazing. Daffodils and lambs and spring in the Peaks. So happy I feel like I've got enough energy back for this. (Might be speaking too soon!)

piggyboo 26 weeks! No way! I do have... not a bump... a sort of "thickening of the waist" at times.

lisbethsopposite Haha see! Now I will curse you for your flat stomach as mine is huge after dinner!

leige thinking of you and hoping all goes really well.

nenehoo sorry for the stress - unlikely to be anything sinister at your age but best to get it checked out. Keep us posted.

I cracked and had a glass of wine. -hangs head- A really really small glass though... I might have one tomorrow as well as friend I am going to see is a proper wine connoisseur. AND THEN I WON'T DRINK ANYTHING FOR AT LEAST A WEEK PROMISE.

ps. I asked a room of 6 doctors today if they thought there was any problem drinking small amounts occasionally in pregnancy and they all simultaneously snorted and went, "no." So much for the official guidelines, hah. Bet they wouldn't say that to a patient. (This is exactly what I would have said before I was pregnant, but now I am strangely wary/guilty!)

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 20:48

squid I intend to celebrate the end of the first trimester with a big old glass of red.pretty much everyone I know abstains first trimester and then has the odd cheeky half. I totally agree the odd one or two won't do you any harm. Well that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Enjoy your wine. I'll be joining you in 2 weeks and counting...

squidkid · 23/03/2012 20:52

midgetm yay!!! I am counting down to all your scans too you know (when hopefully you won't find me so smug and cheery)

I abstained for the first trimester yeah. It was quite easy - the thought of it turned my stomach (the thought of beer still does, and I normally love a nice local ale).

Guccigirl79 · 23/03/2012 21:07

Have just about managed day 5 of 6 at work!! yay!!! really feeling it tonight so cant wait to be done tomorrow :)

I had lager envy last night for the first time since I've been up duffed,I could've very easily sunk dp's pint!! (not terribly lady like I know but I'm not really a girlie girl!)

Not much else to report other than can't wait for bed lol

HaggisNeepsTatties · 23/03/2012 21:30

I'm with you midget waiting till after 12 week scan...so if DH can hold off opening one of those lovely bottles of red till next weekend then I will definitely be having a cheeky wee glass next weekend!

OP posts:
jodidi · 23/03/2012 21:42

I didn't have a bump til about 15 weeks with my eldest, and even then I was still in my normal clothes til 24 weeks. This time I'm only 9 weeks (ish) and I look huge!! I've lost weight on the scales but I already look pregnant because my muscles have never recovered from my other 2 pregnancies.
Anyone worried about alcohol, I'm abstaining too, but when I was pg with dd1 I went on a complete bender when I was about 8 weeks, spent about 2-3 weeks drinking heavily every night, and she's absolutely fine. I will say in my defence that I had no idea I was pregnant at the time and felt incredibly guilty about it as soon as I found out.
I have finally got a date for my 12 week scan, it's not til the 23rd April!! 4 more weeks to wait!!! I'll be about 13 weeks by then I think.

Midgetm · 23/03/2012 21:57

Things I forgotten from last time I was pregnant: 'do not watch sport relief when up duffed' Been hysterically crying for an hour now... Silly silly move.

nenehooo · 24/03/2012 07:39

Thank you all for your thoughts... Have woken up after an 11 hour sleep and it wasn't the first thing I thought about, so that's a good sign Smile as for alcohol, I've got 3 weddings of really good friends this year, therefore 3 hens too, so not drinking is gonna be a killer!!! All being well, I will definitely be drinking a glass of champagne for the toast at each wedding... It'd be rude not to, right?!
